Morning ruminations
As the full moon wanes
Dawn brings but the afterthought:
"Leave this loveless light;
Leave this loveless life, you sought;
Leave, and hope —
You'll live once more."

Oh to be home!
A lot of hearth, iron, yet far too little fire
To claim a centerpiece's title.
Still, parts of me do long to inspire,
Maybe I could be a bookstand of oaken.
Sometimes I think I could be the rug,
Warm and inviting,
But the dead animal in me would still protest
Being de-clawed for comfort.
I drift on, wishing I could be the succulents;
Still, yet ever growing; safe
On the windowsill, where the light gets in in
Abundance.
But I am not that green, anymore;
I could say I am the corroded key
That lastly locked
An old softly squeaking main chamber door,
More or less annoyed
With the sound
Of
Opening up.
Then again, I am what squeaks and creaks.
Though, easily… and hopefully
Such noises sound
Familiar.
Cradling lands of melancholy and nostalgia;
We can drift to anywhere.
If I am me, then I must be
The run-down
Rocking chair.

Oh to be home!
I thought eventually I’d be stained glass.
Something lofty and vibrant.
Maybe an elegant divan. Velvet.
Or I’d be a draftsman’s table, sturdy, useful.
I thought I could be a fantastical wardrobe,
colorful and quiet with secrets inside.
The ultimate would be a roll-top desk
with lots of drawers and places for things.
But I think I’m an overstuffed chair,
a bit shabby and past my prime.
Comfortable if you hit at the right angle,
inviting and soft but slightly warped.

Wistfulness glints
Besotted, I drift off in fantasy,
Enamoured by a faint, yet timeless smile,
Alleviating every ache, worldly,
Until I am unsullied (for a while).
That smile — it is the heart you so beguile
Into its lost essentiality,
For wistfulness glints, and mirroring eyes
Undo the umbral weight of emptied skies;
Lo, all those stars… so you do shine to me.

Kill-switch
Sky-shot,
I could not hold on
And from my everlasting embrace
You slipped
Into the vastness of a
Dark unknown,
Your lifeline attached to
My kill-switch.
An interstellar spaceship
Has, ever since,
Been at drift.

Top 5 Songs (of the moment)
I was tagged by the musical mastodon of evergreens and earworms, @allnightsong2, to share with you my top 5 songs of a moment in time which is this exact moment.
Thank you!
The Highwaymen - Highwayman
Heard this song for the first time two weekends ago, and ever since it has been haunting me. It's just too goose-bump-guaranteeing brilliant. My entire top 5 should be just this song, as that would be the most honest list. But I'll humor you…
Level 42 - Lessons In Love
Heard this one in the car, and caught myself thinking: damn, that guy has a really nice voice. Of course, he has… but I never really appreciated it enough for its uniqueness. That day I did, so I should share the song now I have the chance.
deadmau5 & Kaskade - I Remember
A warm blanket. Nightly ride excellence.
R.E.M. - Bang And Blame
For some reason this song has been in my head during my daily walks. Always loved the reverb on R.E.M. songs, and this one's got it bad. It creates a misty dreamscape, only pierced by the voice of Michael Stipe. What a vibe.
Genesis - Domino
"Look out the Windows
Millions of ordinary people are there
They gaze at the scenery
They act as if it is perfectly clear
Take a look at the mountains
Take a look at the beautiful river of blood.
The liquid surrounds me
I fight to rise from this river of hell
I stare round about me
Children are swimming and playing with boats
Their features are changing
Their bodies dissolve and I am alone."
That's from Domino Part 2, I think. I randomly watched the live registration of When In Rome on some German channel at like 2 a.m., and that exact part sent shivers down my spine. Considering Domino, it's the live version you're after. I know Genesis stopped being cool, but I am unashamed to trade in some cool-points for legitness.
I am not hip.
Tagging: @psychicbouquetlove, @not--waving--drowning, @brooklynbubbles, @madworlddiary, @lunaragent; five for five, without any obligation to partake, and with the added notion that you can just drop your top songs without rambling on about them. I mean, it would be appreciated (by me), but it's not exactly necessary for this game of taggetry.

Silenced
Last I remember is
The silence, and my oafish gratitude
To finally be rid
Of the lost-battle-struggle,
Echoing deafening
Screams and hollers within
My rib cage, until weakened
Animalistic groans
Screeched, so, scratched at my sternum in
Lock-jawed
Lamentations of a voice
Too hoarse to cry out;
The excruciation of my core
Cramped up to a leaden ball
Til its last whimper, and, so,
Its pitiful death,
Much anticipated… then…
The relief of silence, and
Riddance of pain has made
Place for
Grief, since.
What hurts no more, has turned
Unfeeling; dead, rigor mortis post
Tetanus,
So, your departure
Has infected my heart.
I never guessed this silence
Would not turn song, again,
And
Even though
I am partial to believe in miracles,
I know my heart, and as far as I can
Remember, it will not
Come
Alive, again.
Of this I am
Certain.

April showers
Soft droplets of rain
Fall down from an unseen cloud
I lift my face upward
And smile, embracing the world
Surrounded by windswept petals
So, I am nurtured; so, I am whole
As April cries her
Tears of joy

I rarely write of muses. I tend to feel there is a certain unfairness in distilling someone to pure inspiration, then poetry. In a way, such artifying feels like just a different kind of objectifying. Using a person. That's the dirty side of musing, as I overthink it.
On the other hand, I am, at times, quite hopelessly romantic. Hopeless, because I can only poem what I dare not, or rather, knowingly should not say, due to my heart's godforsaken intensity. And romantic, because it is just a deluge of unadulterated love that washes over me. It has to go somewhere. Maybe a poem isn't so bad, then.
She's quite something.

You, soft tunes
Less noise, more music
Times of yore remind us
S l o w e r
Savor the day, and each other
Sway, if you can't dance, hold
Each other... closer
Rays of golden
Hour
Highlight your smile and the kindness in your
Eyes
Glowing
Pride, an apple pie
Cools on the windowsill
Or is it rather happiness?
A garden, scaped together, in full bloom
Maybe that could be the metaphor of us
A porch swing, creaking; hands and heart
Warmed, appreciating a brought
Hot beverage
Small gestures, small moments; all things
Considered normal
Become so achingly wonderful
Your smile (again) and the excitement in your
Eyes
Sparkling
Smug, a succulent
Has sprouted a new leaf
When, by all means, it should have been
Dead, already
Could this be happiness, really?
Maybe that could be our metaphor
A home
Library, packed with
Old books, dusted off attentively
So, our histories, those we would like to keep
Shared, fifty-fifty
Yes
A home
And hearth where the dog sleeps
After the long walk in a world that has turned
Wonderful, so achingly
You, soft tunes
That remind to go slow
Slow as can be; slow as homely
Home
That is the metaphor
'Home', is everything
You evoke
In me

Thank you kindly. Always a pain, picking a new one, so I appreciate the compliment! You should see the collection of Mel Gibsonesque mugshots leading up to that photo.
