He only came here for one reason and that was to visit Daisy. She being a force to be reckoned with that he had taken notice of from the first moment they met. The way she drew people in he couldn’t help but find a fascination with her. Barkis was no stranger to darkness and he saw it in her, perhaps as she also saw in him. As far as he saw it, he did what had to in order to survive. That’s all everyone was trying to do themselves really. People did what they must, he was doing the same. A mean to an end and now he’d found it: Lindsay. She was going to fit into his plan nicely if all went according to plan. That didn’t mean he couldn’t give his favorite dancer a visit, holding up his whiskey glass in greeting when he saw her across the room.

Lindsay let out another giggle. She swore she wasn’t trying to sound like she was making fun of him or anything! She just wasn’t used to being wooed like this before. Barkis has only ever been a gentleman to her and she had to admit it was really nice. Most of the guys she has dated were jocks that didn’t know the first thing about romance, except Tyler of course, and even with Tyler wooing her like he did Barkis was still taking the cake right now. “Really? That’s so sweet. Oh my gosh I just…I’m totally blushing right now!” She covered her face with her hands, her smile peeking out still. She honestly was so overwhelmed by the attention and she rather loved attention. It was just too good to be true, really. A guy like him trying to woo a small-town girl like her? Sure, she was super hot and she was super famous now, but still. She was always just in shock. “I…I so don’t even know what to say! I like, really like your vibe. And getting to know you has been so much fun! I just…I’m not normally so like….this!”

She had been precisely what he was looking for. He was happy to stop his search and begin pursuing what was right in front of him. It had been quite the journey trying to find the right fit. This had fallen into his lap really and he couldn’t be more pleased. Lindsay was exactly who he’d been searching for all this time. “I’ve been waiting to meet someone like you for a very long time,” he said taking her hand and pressing a soft kiss to the back of it. Strangely enough Barkis did actually enjoy seeing her happy like this. It made him smile himself as he looked up at her, still holding her hand in his. “I was wondering if you would like to go on a date with me? A formal one. We could get dinner, go wine tasting, a picnic in the park, whatever you desire. I’d like to continue getting to know you better, if you’ll let me.”

"You showed who you are." - Victor
@vvdort
If there was anything Barkis knew how to do it was take someone's words and turn them on their head. Victor usually made it exceptionally easy for him, plus he found a slight amusement from the man. That didn't mean he wanted the twig around for longer than necessary. No matter how hard he wanted to avoid him Victor was like a cockroach, he never seemed to go away. That was beginning to be the same problem he had with Emily. With a softened expression of confusion, he looked at the other male, even going as far as to tilt his head. "Whatever do you mean? I am a simple man, Victor. All I've ever wanted was love. I would believe you above anyone would understand that."

@herhotness cont. from here
She’d become his new favorite thing, more than any other girl he’d ever pursued before. Finally, he’s found his perfect match. As far as Barkis was concerned she quite precisely fit the things he looked for most in a woman. There was still a finesse to it all and a manner about himself she was always to present to a lady. Regardless of his actions, Barkis Bittern was a gentleman. This woman had perfectly fallen into his lap and only a fool wouldn’t handle such a fine art-piece without care. “Not many people are so bold about that which alone makes you mysterious to me,” he said with a smile. Lately she’d been all he wanted to see, making him almost feel something at her own brightness. Barkis didn’t want to get too certain yet, there was much left to do. “Ah...” He ran a hand through his hair, looking down at the floor sheepishly then back up at her with a shy smile. “You’ve caught me, I can’t lie. I’ve been absolutely enchanted by you since we met.”

Lindsay put a hand to her heart (or what she thought the location of her heart was). He was so sweet and a romantic? She really felt like she was scoring big getting to know a guy like this. She would have assumed he was gay if he hadn’t said girl though. A guy like that was too good to be true for the lucky women out there. No point in him ever knowing that small detail anyways. “I so hope you find her. Romance is like, so important in a relationship!” When he spoke about Tyler her smile fell for a moment. He was right, but still. Tyler was special. And he always would be. “Oh stop! You’re the one who has like, totally turned the party around. I am so lucky to have ran into you! Oh! I got an idea!” She stood up and extended her hand. “We should like, dance! I love dancing! It’s so much fun!”

He couldn’t help but find her more interesting than Victoria. Every time he tried to talk to her it was as if he was talking to a feather duster, dry and uneventful. Lindsay on the other hand, she was a treat. “It really is, isn’t it? People don’t appreciate the little things anymore. Buying her flowers just because, making her breakfast, telling her she’s beautiful even when she’s heard it a thousand times,” he said exhaling heavily. “I apologize, I can get carried away sometimes.” Barkis gave her a bright smile and shook his head. If she only knew how much better his night was now that he’d seen her. “No, no, I would be absolutely miserable if it weren’t for you.” He placed his drink down and stood with her, quick to take her hand. “It would be a pleasure.”

Lindsay was really into his energy right now. She was also a sucker for compliments so that did really help him. She would be lying if hearing that he didn’t have a girl didn’t make her feel like she was doing something right. “Stopp! You’re like, way too sweet!” She nudged his arm gently and sipped at her drink. “That’s like, such a bummer. I really hope you can find the girl of your dreams soon! It would be so sad to not have someone to kiss for New Years!” She sighed, shaking her head. “I don’t have anyone tonight. I mean, I used to like, have this guy…Tyler! That’s his name. But he’s been pretty MIA lately. I hope he isn’t in the hospital again.” Her ex got injuries more than any person Lindsay had ever met. It was such a tragedy. “I just like a good party. And Lava Springs! I’m a super devoted member.”

Barkis couldn’t help himself when it came to things he wanted, he liked to get them. He wanted to make sure he made sure she knew he was interested but not lay it on too thick that she wouldn’t like it. In everything he did he was particular and calculated, especially when talking to a woman he wanted to impress. “I’m only saying what I see to be true,” he said holding up his hands in innocence. “I hope so, I haven’t been able to find her yet but I know she’s out there. What can I say? I’m a bit of a hopeless romantic.” Barkis gave a shy smile before it curled into a smirk as she talked. “Wait, no way, I can’t believe that. What kind of guy would disappear on a girl like you? Any guy who you’d even give a second look would be lucky.” Perhaps it was too much but he did assume this Tyler guy was an idiot, had he seen her? “Well I am glad you came, you’ve already made it a much better party.”

It was New Years, and Lottie wasn’t giving up hope that she was going to end it on a high note. So far the party was wonderful, ,and she’d done her best to avoid just about anything that could go crushing her heart. Watching a few couple dance she hummed softly to herself, it was rather lovely. “Oh my stars!” She gasped as her attention went more towards ensuring her drink didn’t land on her dress of any sorts. Lottie didn’t mind being bumped into, but she would have a small melt down if her dress got ruined before the grand ending of the evening. Looking up finally she let out a small laugh. “Oh no sug’, ya’ didn’t. Ya need a water or somethin’ can’t have ya’ stumblin’ around into anyone else on my watch. “

His beautiful backup plan. Charlotte LaBouff herself, he should have known from the hair that it was her but all the blondes started to blend together at events like this. He hadn’t been able to meet her face to face until now, the opportunity finally presenting itself. She had been one he had his eyes on for some time and until Lindsay he thought it would be time to introduce herself to her after what was happening with Victoria. Barkis had to switch gears after the confirmation that Emily was alive and well had finally caught up to him. “No, no, all sober just an idiot not paying attention,” he said holding his hands up in innocence to being intoxicated. Barkis wasn’t one for drinking until he lost control, that being the very thing that held in together. “My fault. A dress that gorgeous isn’t one to put around that kind of behavior,” he joked slightly. “May I buy you a drink? It’s the least I can do.”

[ 𝙻𝙸𝙽𝙳𝚂𝙰𝚈 ]
Lindsay loved Lava Springs. She was a very frequent occupier and when she got her membership it had to be one of the greatest days of her life. There was nothing she loved more than being treated like an absolute princess, and the place was very good to her and her royalty money from Total Drama. So when she heard of a NYE party at her favorite place to relax, of course was on board! Supporting the arts was a major plus. She made sure to give a rather generous donation before she actually let herself have some fun. She hadn’t been there for long before her mystery Scorpio came over to her with a drink in hand. It was like, an added bonus to everything! She took the drink happily and giggled at his words. “I do get that a lot! But thank you! For the drink too! It was so nice of you, Bradley.” She grinned at him. “You look pretty good too. Did you bring a hot date with you?”

She was dressed in less than most of the women he went out with and yet he wasn’t making any complaints. Even though Lindsay wasn’t his usual type after Emily it would be smart to play it cool and stay beneath the radar. Little did she know that she might be perfect for just that. Barkis had been doing his research on her, even finding out about her little appearance on Total Drama Island which continued to seal the deal. This girl was the right one, he could feel it. “Any woman that is as beautiful as you still deserves to hear it every day,” he said clinking her glass in a cheers before taking a sip of his. A simple girl as far as he could tell, trying not to chuckle at the name she’d used. He didn’t bother correcting her as it didn’t phase him too much much when it came down to it. As long as she knew who he was when it mattered. “Not this time, haven’t been able to find the right girl just yet.” He shoved his free hand into his pocket and gave a nonchalant shrug. “What about you? Only way a girl like you is coming to one of these things alone is by choice.” She must have other men that wanted her but Barkis wanted to make sure he came out on top, whatever it took.

He saw dollar signs before he saw beauty in a woman. Over the years he’d picked up on what exactly makes someone look like they had money. It’s how he trained himself to do the very same and prove that he earned his place in this society. It was money that made the world go round after all and Barkis wanted to make sure he was a part of it. The moment he laid eyes on Lottie from across the room he knew. From the way she held herself to the clothes on her body he knew she was someone he needed to be in good graces with. He made his way over with a smile already on before pretending to bump into her as he walked by. “Oh, excuse me, I’m so sorry. I should pay more attention,” Barkis said giving her a smile. “I didn’t hurt you, did I?”

Even though he’d come without a date Barkis knew who his eyes would be on once he arrived. Lindsay was much more exciting of a prospect than Victoria. It hadn’t been his intentions to switch a plan partway through, as gestures like that usually tended to ruin everything but this was a special case. After seeing Emily, confirming that she was still around he needed something different. Lindsay fit the bill in more ways than one. Perhaps this one he might actually keep around, she was quite a sweet sight to see and he thought she’d be easily convinced if need be. Barkis was still assessing the situation before he laid it on too thick but she was who his sights were set on from the moment he walked in. He went to her first thing, a drink already in hand to offer her. “I owed you one after last time I saw you,” he said, flashing a smile. “And don’t you look absolutely beautiful, though that’s not out of the ordinary for you I presume.”

Lindsay let out a giggle, but she did mean it on getting him a drink. It was not every day that she met a total charmbomb like him and she was feeling good for being right about his sign. “Let me! I like, insist. I wanna get something fancy and like, why get a fancy thing alone?” She obviously fell into the flattery rather easily. Why wouldn’t she? She was good at lots of things and knowing people based on their signs was one of them. “I’ve been told I am super good at reading a room. And people! I love all the signs, of course, but like, scorpios are so fun and mysterious! I can’t help but be drawn to them.” She bit her lip. “I mean they also say scorpios are like, super loyal! Which is totally cool!”

Her looks were the tip of the iceberg, it wasn’t every day that a gorgeous woman was offering to buy him a drink. Typically it was Barkis that would be trying to get a girl a drink and now the tables had been turned on him. He wondered if that meant she could afford more than just a mere drink, in interest going farther than her looks now. “What kind of man would I be to say no to a beautiful woman? It would be an honor to share a drink with you,” he said tipping his head to her politely. Regardless of what he’d done in his past he was sure to have manners along the way. “Is that so? I could see that, I must admit I haven’t been table to take my eyes off of you all night but I bet you hear that all the time.” Barkis wondered what same bad may come from his astrology, as he’d never paid attention to it before. “Loyalty is hard to find these days,” he said with a smile. “As for mysterious, what do you think? Am I mysterious? I don’t think I could give a proper assessment of myself on that one.”

He had just finished with his set for the night which was something that always put him in a good mood. Playing piano was his favorite escape, one that he treasured and he didn’t think anything could ruin the feeling he got from finishing a successful set. That was, until he saw Barkis sitting at a table near the bar and his stomach knots. He almost trips over his own feet as he tries to hurry away without being seen. But of course he must have been, he was performing. His name was on the bloody sign that said he’d be preforming. It was a moment too long that he stood there, realizing too late that he was staring at him like a deer in headlights. Should he just walk away? Should he say something? In his attempt to think, he just keeps staring, noticing the other man looking back. So he gives him a slight nod of acknowledgement while cursing himself inside his head for all of this.

Barkis knew all too well what kind of pathetic excuse for a man that Victor Van Dort was. In all honestly, Victoria probably was better off with the guy since they seemed to have some sort of chemistry. The last thing Barkis cared about was any of that nonsense, only having any sort of eye for her because of the money that came along with her. As of recently he’d been looking at someone else though and wondering if it was time to drop Victoria for something sweeter. There was an exhale once he watched the awkward man fumble around as he did. Barkis got to his feet, leaving a bill on the bar top for the woman who had gotten him his drink. With a hand shoved in his pocket and a smile on his face he sauntered towards the other male. “Don’t tell me you’ve gotten stage fright now that I’m here,” he cooed at Victor. “Sounded lovely, didn’t know you had such a gift.”

Though he didn’t seem entirely upset by what had happened with the girl he was supposed to marry, his words certainly spoke another narrative. Daisy knew all too well of someone like him, partly because she was just like him, too: he was hiding something. “Cheating on someone like you?” she repeated, shaking her head while she clicked her tongue. “What a shame. I can’t think of anyone who would take advantage of a man like you.” With his killer looks and ridiculous pile of money, Daisy definitely wouldn’t. “How did she die?” Though she knew from what the papers had said, she wanted to hear the story from Barkis himself. Daisy was intrigued by death, anyway. “Were you there?”

He has been drawn to her since the moment he met her eyes in Wonderland. In fact, he hadn’t been returning for any other reason than her company. The sparkle in her eyes had turned dark long before he met her and that’s exactly what made her so special. Not everyone had the same glare that he did, something lingering between them between his words. Barkis wondered if she knew, seeming like she was the kind to read between the lines and he left breadcrumbs for her to pickup on. No one else knew the truth, he intended to keep it that way, until he met someone like her. “Can you believe it? I gave her everything, you know, loved her more than life itself.” Well, the dollar signs that came with her anyway. Details didn’t matter here though. “Stabbed, would you believe it? So personal,” he said his eyes now boring into hers. They held behind them secrets he wondered if she could sense. “Do you think I was there the night my fiance was murdered?”

Daisy had done her research since the last time she’d seen him, and read the stories about how he and his future wife had some accident before they were supposed to be married. He had mentioned, though, how none of it was accidental, which had been cryptic, but Daisy could only assume it might have to do with the biggest so-called accident of his life. “What did happen to her, anyway?” she asked, feigning innocence and curiosity. “She died, didn’t she?” Playing dumb was what she did best, and with a man as calculated as Barkis, she was better off the less he knew. “I’m so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine losing a love like that. Mine thought we were better off without each other and it practically tore my heart to shreds,” Daisy told him, giving him a sigh and faking a frown.

He was intrigued by a woman like Daisy. She played the game well, matching his moves as they baited each other into a checkmate. It was exhilarating to have something else that twisted with situations as they both did. He could tell this wasn’t her first time fishing for what she wanted to hear, knowing how she used words was all too precise. The only way to see the needle in the haystack was if you’d placed for them yourself and he had laid enough to rest to see how she slithered. And yet she still drew him in, a curiosity that might kill the cat if it got too close. “Tragic, isn’t it? I think of her often,” he said feigning a sigh. “She’d done be absolutely rotten before she passed you know. Played me like a fiddle, I fear she only wanted me for my money, only to find out she’d been cheating on me all along. Made me look like a fool.” The lie he’d begun was continuing to be written. “A pity.”

“Oh gosh,” Lindsay said with a giggle. She hadn’t expected to be flirted with by such a handsome guy in a place like this, but here she was, living her dream right now. “Well, thank you. I enjoy looking good. It’s been my greatest strength or whatever. Can I buy you a drink? I think you’re a Scorpio and like…that means we could totally connect.” She knew a lot about that kind of stuff. After Heather, she really wanted to make sure she alligned herself with the right charts. “That or like some macho Aries. Which means we would still totally connect!”

Sometimes it was too easy. Barkis craved the chase but it was the capture that he loved the most. This one was already scratching the itch he had for something new and she was beautiful to boot. He was always keen to appreciate a stunning woman when he saw one, though beauty only went so far with a man like him. “Buy me a drink? I couldn’t let a gorgeous woman like yourself get me a drink when it should be the other way around.” He leaned against the counter and motioned for the bartender to come to him next. “Is that so? Are you always this good at reading people? It seems you’ve seen right through me,” he said with a smile coming to his lips. “Tell me, what else do they say about Scorpios?”
