writeblr intro except i was already here oops
hi! my name is dallon and i am not new here, just moved accounts! not much has changed but here is my little pinned post
i’m 21 and use he/they pronouns.
i’m a literature student and i’m in my final year so ! i don’t have a lot of free time !
i write literary fiction and contemporary mostly but i don’t really care about genre. i’m here for messy characters and cool vibes
i’m trans & autistic and most of my work is about that
my writing priority is to have fun. i try to avoid productivity culture and don’t really care about writing a lot or writing “good”. i just write because i want to!
i don’t really stick to one project but rather bounce around multiple and that is why i have so many wips <3
what you’ll find on my blog: novel excerpts, sometimes longer writing updates, short story + poetry posts, writing positivity but also honesty. idk i’m pretty chill!
current wips
revelations, revelations: adult literary. twins felix and dorothy reunite in 1980s san francisco after four years apart, where they try to repair their broken relationship, heal from religious trauma, and reckon with the fact that they are not good people. my biggest baby <3 the novel i will never finish <3
life cycle of massive stars: (new) adult contemporary/literary/???. three trans, autistic housemates try to survive university and the looming threat of adulthood and Change. no plot just vibes
i always see orion: ya contemporary (???). follows a pre-transition, autistic trans boy trying to navigate life with his sister after their parents leave them during their final term of school to fend for themselves. very new so once again no plots, just vibes!
i am made of indigo: adult literary. a closeted trans man moves back home after graduating university to broken family dynamics and a seven year old sister looking to him for a new mother figure.
how to swallow matchsticks: short story collection. i write about messy relationships and self destruction. highlights include: a teenager taking her little sister to the aquarium after killing their father, ace lesbians teaming up against the commune they spend their summers on, trans boys doing crimes, a girl becoming besties with the girl in the missing persons report, sneaking out to visit your brother who faked his death, setting a laundromat on fire to impress a girl and a cat who is probably God.
this is where i buried my baby teeth: poetry collection. i write about being trans, being mentally ill, and trying to heal your inner child. also i write about riding a submarine to the moon and fish experiencing complex thought
again i can’t promise regular content as i am very busy, but if any of this interests you then i have a general taglist! i only have one, so you will be tagged in everything and anything i have to post <3 if you would like to be on it then please let me know on this post! i’m also looking for other writeblrs to follow so if you write similar genres/anything queer and/or with autistic rep really then i would love to check it out!

whispers hey you can’t use the same critical framework on works by individual lgbt creators that you use for works by corporations looking for profit from lgbt stories written by straight people because the context and consumption of that content exist in completely separate spheres thannnkssssss

Cannot express how disinterested I am in seeing traumatized characters “reconcile” with their canonically shitty parental figures.

3-Page Writing Critiques for Winston (pay what you can donation)
Hi folks! As I posted in my last video, my family’s rescue bulldog, Winston (2) was recently hospitalized and had to undergo emergency surgery. He’s back home now and in recovery, but since hospital/surgery costs were high, I want to do whatever I can to help contribute to the bill and his future care.
Tumblr media
I’m offering 3-page in-line critiques (can be from a story, novel, or up to 3 poems, but no NSFW please!) for a pay-what-you-can donation (no minimum, it can literally be $1!). Payment will be accepted first through a PayPal.Me link that I will send you via email. I will send your critique ASAP (within ~1-7 business days) also through email.
WHAT YOU CAN GET:
Critique for up to 3 pages of your story/novel excerpt/poems. The critique will include line edits and/or in-line comments where necessary.
I really appreciate your help here - please boost this post to help spread the word.
HOW TO DONATE:
Email me at [email protected] for the PayPal link and attach what you’d like critiqued (Word docs preferred but I can also critique in Google Docs). Please use Times New Roman 12 pt. font double spaced. Once you’ve sent through your payment, I’ll get started on your critique.
If you can’t donate, please don’t worry - I truly don’t want to put anyone out especially after the holiday season! I really appreciate all of your help already!
If you’d like to support in other ways, perhaps consider sharing some of my YouTube videos (authortube content about my writing journey, craft videos, book design, etc) with your friends, or rewatching an upload you liked!
A little bit about me for those who don’t know: hello! I’m Rachel, a 20-year-old writer from Toronto. I run an authortube channel and am currently pursuing my BFA in creative writing from a Canadian university with concentrations in Fiction and Poetry.
Thank you and happy 2022!
—Rachel

I think that one of the most underrated writing tips is so simple – you do you. The writing process is very subjective. Every writer has their own unique ways of developing their craft and turning an idea into a compelling story. Some pieces of writing advice will work for you, some won’t. You, and only you, can tell what feels right and what doesn’t. Don’t think that you’ve got to use something in your story only because someone else said that it would be a good idea. You don’t.

i think not a single word you write is ever wasted. i think your unfinished stories taught you more than you know, i think your notebook margins are full of doodles and every one of them has meaning, every scrap and perpetual work in progress lives inside your heart. art is not ever “wasted” just because you put effort into something that’s not suitable for mass consumption. there is value inherent in the act of creation!

GNC trans men - you’re wonderful!
Gender-conforming trans men - you’re amazing!
Binary trans men - you’re awesome!
Nonbinary trans men - you’re very cool!
Trans men in general - I hope you have a wonderful day. You deserve to feel safe in your identity and in how you choose to present yourself. I wish you happiness and reasons to laugh.

The fact that people are boycotting JK Rowling for her blatant transphobia and not mentioning her blatant racism exemplifies why people are white before they are trans or gay.
The Wizarding school North America (Ivermory) is riddled with blatant appropriation of Native American cultures, but no one gave a shit.
But no one gave a shit until she started starting transphobic rhetoric.
She literally takes Native American beliefs and... I don't know what the words are for this bullshit. Misrepresents them to capitalize on them? Appropriates them? Completely ignores the original beliefs in order to make up her own?
Although the new insights into the universe of Harry Potter were welcomed by many, the author was strongly criticised online by a number of voices from Native American communities, particularly over her writing about skinwalkers, which in Navajo legend are said to be evil witches or wizards who can take on the form of animals.
Rowling writes that the myth “has its basis in fact … A legend grew up around the Native American Animagi, that they had sacrificed close family members to gain their powers of transformation. In fact, the majority of Animagi assumed animal forms to escape persecution or to hunt for the tribe. Such derogatory rumours often originated with No-Maj medicine men, who were sometimes faking magical powers themselves, and fearful of exposure.”
Responding to a question on Twitter, Rowling said that “in my wizarding world, there were no skinwalkers”, with the legend created by those without magic “to demonise wizards”.
But yeah. The transphobia is why we're boycotting her.
(This isn't to say the transphobia is okay or to minimize trans issues. This is to point out that white people only care about issues that effect other white people.)
Look. All I'm saying is if you're going to make a post about why we don't like JK Rowling. Say "we aren't going to support JK Rowling because of her racism and transphobia."
Not to mention. How shitty of a writer must you be if you can't create b your own myths and legends? The fact that she's gotta steal from others completely exemplifies how shitty of an author she is.

One of the things that I get told by a lot of people is that the writeblr community is ignoring them. They are putting out their posts and original works, but because they are not getting the notes and responses they were hoping to receive, they think that they are being ignored.
This is such a deeply damaging and painful mindset for you to have, and it's also really unfair to the people around you.
I get it. It hurts when we don't get the validation, response, and encouragement we were hoping to have. It really, really sucks, and I'm so sorry that you're feeling lost and alone and confused about why people aren't reading your writing. Your writing is wonderful, and deserves more love than you feel like you're receiving right now. You're definitely not the only person feeling that way, and most of the people here can empathize with you. We're all struggling to get noticed.
But here's the thing: most people here aren't ignoring you.
*This post isn't talking about any malicious acts of bullying that might be happening which unfortunately does exist on Tumblr. This is talking more generally about the content and engagement on this website.
Here's the definition of the word ignore:
refuse to take notice of or acknowledge; disregard intentionally.
Ignoring someone means that we see someone, and we pretend not to see them. It means going out of our way to exclude someone because we don't like them.
I promise, most people in the writeblr community aren't seeing your URL and your posts and saying "Oh ew, it's this person again. I hate them and I think they suck, so I'm not going to interact with them."
The Writeblr Community is massive. There are easily hundreds and thousands of writeblr blogs that use the tag. With the wonky tagging system, and the tumblr algorithm, it is so, so easy for posts to fall through the crack. There are thousands and thousands of posts with the #writeblr tag that you are competing against for attention.
When you scroll through your dash, do you like and/or reblog every single post you see? Do you remember every single blog that pops up on it? Do you follow every single writeblr blog you see? How many times are you actively choosing to ignore posts? I would guess not very often. You're just scrolling on through, and sometimes a posts catches your eye, and sometimes it doesn't and you forget about it by the time you're two posts down.
Even with DMs and asks — people have a lot on their plates. Tumblr isn't always a priority for people, and maybe they don't have the time and energy to respond. Maybe they never receive it because it got lost. Maybe they intend to reply and forgot to, and now it's too late to respond and they feel super awkward and bad about it. There are a lot of reasons why you might not get a response, and as much as it sucks, chances are, it's not done maliciously.
You have a lot of love and support to give, and some amazing creativity and writing to offer. It's really unfortunate that it's not being noticed, and it can really hurt to see something you've put a lot of effort into and have it not get the response that you're hoping for. Tumblr is a fickle place, and with engagement dropping lower, it can be really hard to get the community that we're all hoping to find here.
That being said, I can't help but feel like people who say that they are being ignored are carrying a lot more hurt than they need to. Feeling like you are being ignored or excluded can hurt your self-esteem, or build up a lot of anger and it's a really awful feeling.
Chances are, most people aren't ignoring you. Most people are not out to get you, and they are not trying to exclude you specifically from the community because they don't like you. It's much more likely that you're just getting a little lost in the shuffle because there is a lot going on in tumblr at any given moment.
This isn't your fault, and this isn't anyone else's fault either.
It hurts so much to feel like you're not being seen, and that's absolutely valid. I'm sorry that you're feeling that way, it's a terrible, awful way to feel. I can reassure you however, that most people would love to get to know you; they just might not have noticed you yet. I can reassure you that most people are not purposefully excluding you either.
The community doesn't hate you. People don't hate you. You are wonderful, your presence here should be cherished, you have so much to offer to the community, I think that you absolutely belong here, and I'm sure that other people would agree too.
I hope you find the friends and the interaction that you're hoping for someday soon! It might take some persistence, luck, and some shaking of your fists at the tumblr algorithm, but I know that your people are out here somewhere.
Until then, try to remind yourself that people are most likely not ignoring you. They're just missing a lot of the cool stuff you're doing because it's really easy to miss things on this website. Someday, someone will notice and will appreciate it as much as you do. You just need to keep trying until then.
Good luck! I'm rooting for you.

This is your friendly reminder that the last few years have been hard, and if your writing has taken a toll as a result, that doesn’t make you any less of a writer. Maybe you went on hiatus. Maybe you got burnout. Maybe life gave you shit and other things took priority. It doesn’t matter. Writing is hard, so when life is hard, you might end up slacking in the writing department. And that’s okay. There’s no rule that says you have to write even when life is shitting on you. You’re allowed to take a break, and you can start writing again when you feel ready.

okay, the whole “silly writers, siblings aren’t supposed to actually like each other” thing was always annoying, but it has now morphed into actual real-life people telling me and my actual real-life sibling that our relationship is weird and creepy because we enjoy spending time together and aren’t constantly at each other’s throats, so if we could all collectively stop pretending that siblings are only capable of being cruel to each other, and that any depiction otherwise is unrealistic, that would be great, thanks
