This social view is echoed in the perspective of some psychoanalysts, who see depression as a form of protest. As humans are taken to be units of energy in industrialized societies, they will resist, whether they are conscious of this or not. Depression is thus a way of saying NO to what we are told to be.

The causes of depression, according to this view, are social. Sustained social pressures are bound to end up affecting our bodies, but the pressures come first, the biological responses second.

This social view is echoed in the perspective of some psychoanalysts, who see depression as a form of protest. As humans are taken to be units of energy in industrialized societies, they will resist, whether they are conscious of this or not. Thus, much of what is today labelled depression could be understood as old-fashioned hysteria, in the sense of a refusal of current forms of mastery and domination. The more that society insists on values of efficiency and economic productivity, the more depression will proliferate as a necessary consequence. In a similar way, the more modern society urges us to attain autonomy and independence in our search for fulfillment, the more resistance will take the form of the exact opposite of those values. It puts misery in the midst of plenty. Depression is thus a way of saying NO to what we are told to be.

Whenever we have the chance to talk, I feel less alone in this vast world. The hundreds of kilometers that set us apart mean nothing when we can get to talk about the humane and the divine as if we just got to share a coffee after a busy day.

Take that common, busy day. You're tired. Your client suddenly liked to throw an unexpected deadline and there's more coffee than actual blood running through your veins. You have a lot to complain about, yet you always manage to set that apart and find a kind word for me, a complete stranger, who on top of that, is constantly pushing you to actually complaining and throwing sh*t to the world since it's the only way I can think on to make you feel better.

HOW. HOW DO YOU DO THAT.

Your kindness shows both in your words and in your art. You could just pass from sharing your amazing art, yet you spend some time and effort to make something, a something that won't leave anyone indifferent. Upon seeing your art, I realize that I've been smiling for a while because my cheeks hurt. It makes me smile and brightens my day.

This little Bond licking the camera might not do much justice for what I want to convey, but I refuse to be short on words only. He's a good doggo and likes you, and it makes 2 of us! (well i'm a hooman, but you get the idea)

Hot take on SxF’s plot

I don’t think Operation Strix is the main plot of the story.

SxF is character-driven. It does have a plot, but I don’t really think Operation Strix is the main plot. It’s more like throwing three very marginalised and traumatised people into a family and let them experience what normality or stability feels like. Operation Strix is more like a set of training wheels - before they really become a stable family, they are on training wheels. 

It does, however, follow a theme, or a direction very closely. SxF has a fucked up world. It is a post war police state - everything looks peaceful and normal on the surface, but it isn’t. And everyone knows. They just keep mum and move on. Every misstep leads to conflicts. Every minor conflict could become an excuse to start war. Even the notion of normality has its duality in SxF.

The only way to make progress is when the characters are honest to themselves - when they do something just for the sake of it, and they truly stand by their words and actions.
