What’s it like to fall?, Uriel asks, eyes concerned but wary. She’s the first one to ask and the memory hits Lucifer like a brick to the gut. The darkness of the space, the blinding light of flashing stars, the cold wind that whips around his ears-
It’s like being born all over again, Lucifer laughs and locks the rest behind his teeth.
What’s it like to fall?, Azrael asks next and his voice is curious, as if he’s walking over a frozen lake waiting for the ice to break. Lucifer looks at him and wishes some of his naivety back again, the wide eyes, blowing open, the curious hitch of his voice, God on your tongue -
It’s like losing one of your limbs, Lucifer finally whispers but he’s not sure Azrael even heard it.
What’s it like to fall?, Gabriel asks when they meet, eyes determined but calm like deep rivers. His presence is as soothing as it always was and when Lucifer closes his eyes he’s almost sure he can hear the voices of his brother’s and sister’s in heaven.
It’s like a mouthful of apologies, Lucifer murmurs and loses himself to the memory just a tad longer.
What’s it like to fall?, Raphael asks with a sharp grin and his lips twisted in a haunting way. Something ugly coils inside Lucifer and he remembers Michael’s touch on his shoulder, throwing him out, the pain on his chest, the taste of blood on his tongue -
It’s like losing all hope, Lucifer snorts and ignores the sour taste in his mouth.
What’s it like to fall?, Metatron asks, voice full of fear. Lucifer wonders, for a brief second, if God is still with them, peeking over the edged shoulders of his children, waiting for the betrayal to set in again. He feels suddenly incredible tired.
It’s like becoming a monster, Lucifer answers and flinches from the burning phantom pain on his shoulders.
What’s it like to fall?, Michael asks with fire behind his eyes and his lips pressed into a thin line. Lucifer watches his brother, shoulders square and muscles tensed from clenching his hands too tight. He remembers the his wings catching fire and the reek of burned flesh in his nose, his skin in shreds on his back -
It’s like dying, Lucifer chokes and ignores the pain in his brother’s eyes.

Lucifer fans, and especially original s5 Lucifer fans, can we talk about Lucifer’s scenes with Anael and how much they had consent written all over them?
If you look at these scenes closely, (Which I have, at length, repeatedly) you can see why these scenes felt so intimate and close, even though the action of consuming one’s grace is one we were used to see as violent and forced.
We start by seeing Lucifer admitting he didn’t enjoy having to kill other angels to consume his grace.
I’m not trying to paint him in roses but I mean, how could you blame him? If he hadn’t done it he would’ve literally died and no angel was willing to share their grace out of their own will.
Until Lucifer met an angel who was willing to do that, an offer which he took immediately.
But that’s just the preview. What I really want to talk about is the grace eating itself.
We start with Lucifer approaching Anael to drink some grace from her as they usually do, only this time she asks him to take it slow. He looks confused by this new request, but immediately respects it, and lets her guide him through how she wants to be treated.
She tells him “we don’t have to rush,” and he stops, looking at her questioningly, waiting for her to explain what she meant.
He lets her take his hand with the knife and show him how she’d like it to be done.
When the cut is already open for him to drink from, he still doesn’t do anything. He looks her in the eye, waiting for approval, because he knows this time she wants it to be different. He touches her neck gently as if asking for permission, she raises up her chin, exposing her neck to him, and only then he goes.
At some point she grabs his face, signaling him she’s had enough, and he stops.
He looks at her again and at this point they both can read each other intuitively and know what the other wants without speaking. Lucifer heals her, ending the first round.
And again, he doesn’t start again until she signals him too, looking at her and waiting for her to give him the approval.
This whole healing and cutting again on repeat felt like a strong hint to BDSM to me, and what even strengthened that analogy to me was how they both were constantly making sure the other is safe and is ok with what they’re doing, the creation of an intuitive mutual understanding in which they both can read each other’s needs and feelings without words and try to fit themselves accordingly.
Lucifer treating Anael with such care and putting her consent first brought my mind back to s5 Lucifer, who asked Sam if he’s sure 3 times before taking his “yes”. With all the “Lucifer the great and terrible” vibe he’s been trying to radiate lately, once someone opens up to Lucifer and respects him, he immediately shows the same affection and respect back.

I seriously need Gabriel and Sam to find comfort within each other.
I understand that they weren’t best friends before, but maybe these episodes will be a chance for both of them to start over.
Sam has been through so much, and I know Dean can help, but Sam needs someone who will give him their full attention, who will understand what he’s dealing with.
After everything (after Gabriel died) : the trials, being thrown into the Cage, being soulless, going crazy after regaining his soul, and other stuff, Sam needs someone who can love him, and take care of him.
As for Gabriel, he’s been stuck with Kentucky Fried Douchebag for who knows how long. I feel like he’d be more willing to become friends with Sam then Dean (considering Sam is the more sympathetic person.) And besides, Gabriel cared about Sam, he’d be more willing to put down his pride in front of someone who he could relate to.
Those two seriously need each other right now, because after all the shit they’ve gone through, they deserve some peace at last.
