A binder is a piece of medical equipment. If you use one incorrectly, or use a poorly made one, you can really fuck up your ribs. This article from the Cleveland Clinic talks about how to bind safely.

A $14 binder is guaranteed not to be safe. There's a reason reputable companies charge more- sometimes a lot more. They have to carefully design binders so they don't crush your ribs or make you sick.

You know how everyone says Don't Bind With Duct Tape? Don't bind with Amazon binders.

Really not understanding the vitriol over the shit with the channel leaving YT for a $6 subscription independent site.

I understand disappointment, even some frustration. But the characterization of the situation is extremely confusing to me. I get that it sucks to lose access to something you had for free because you just don't have the money. Being in a financial situation where $6 is prohibitive is extremely stressful. But it's not their fault if you cannot afford entertainment, you aren't entitled to their content, especially if you can't contribute to it financially. Such is the world we live in. Y'all are mad at creatives for wanting more money to expand their creative endeavors, rather than actually engaging with the systems that create this money cycle in the first place.

Saw some saying they would rather it look like shit and drop production value because they just want the personalities, but at this point, a whole chunk of their content necessarily requires expenses for travel and access. Were they making enough on Patreon and YT ads, and Sponsors to cover all this and hire the appropriate staff? Maybe. I don't claim to know their financials because I don't. Just because you can look at a number on Patreon and make a bunch of guesses doesn't mean anyone knows that except the people looking at the books. (Side note, it was explicitly noted in the offending video that sponsors (and presumably YT censors) were a contributing factor for wanting to be independent and have more money. I would rather a creator be able to create without concern for offending a sponsor or YTs ever changing censors, personally, and $6 is nowhere near a severe request for that possibility).

Reminds me of another situation where people found out an independent group made a fuck ton of money and everyone assumed that went directly into their pockets rather than into production and paying their staff.

Just cuz people want to live comfortably and also make high production value content doesn't make them rich or greedy.

I don't know. I'm vaguing extremely obviously because I'm venting but also don't really want to have a discussion about it. I simply don't understand how extreme the reaction has been. But who knows, maybe it will calm down.

Also before anyone says anything. While I am privileged enough for $6 to not be a barrier of entry for me, I am only now being able to attempt to save money at all, and mostly still live paycheck to paycheck. Don't come at me and imply I'm coming at this from a position of wealth or lack of understanding of the monetary situation many people are in.
