Soo I found out that there's a decent amount of people who do not want children under the age of 14 to be baptized and I was just wondering specifically if this was a common protestant opinion that I have just never heard before? I am specifically requesting that catholics and orthodox don't vote, and if you're willing put your denomination in the tags!

I know you have all probably seen the esims for gaza posts circulating. Some of you have probably looked at them and thought maybe you should help out, but have weighed up the daunting process of signing up for something you're unfamiliar with vs. the gut-wrenching scale of the things people are going through on the ground right now, and you've put it off or questioned whether it will make enough of a difference vs. some other future kind of activism you could put that $6+ towards. I'm not calling you out or scolding you, it is natural to feel conflicted and ambivalent about the multiple calls for aid that you are seeing on social media.
but consider this: what would you do if you suddenly had to leave your home? how would you cope? how would you begin to plan where to go next, or figure out what to do to take care of yourself? most likely you would reach reflexively for your phone.
telecoms access is not a petty luxury in 2024. a loaded esim means the ability to call family members and find out where they are and whether they're safe, and whether they need anything you can provide for them. it means access to maps and regular updates on the situation unfolding around you. it means you can look up whether it's safe to drink rain water, or how to tie a type of knot you've never had to think about before, or how to treat an injury without medical supplies. it means the ability to tell people outside the situation what you are seeing, what you are feeling, what you are thinking. it is an absolutely crucial resource. and it starts at $6 for 7 days.
many many people have observed that internet access is changing the way the world understands genocide. internet access is life or death, and it is shaping modern history in front of you. and it starts at $6 for 7 days.
please, please visit gazaesims.com and spend 5 minutes and $6 to change the way this plays out for everyone.

"I listen intently to the sounds of the shelling, and the heaviness of the sound translates my distance from the place being bombed. It's far, past the Wall. In Gaza, or maybe Rafah .... I keep listening, my ears trained to the sound of repeated bombings, and I feel a strange closeness with Gaza, as well as a desire to hear the shelling from nearby, and to touch motes of dust from the buildings being bombed. The absence of dust brings an awareness of how profoundly far I am from anything familiar, and how impossible it will be to return."

Rashida Tlaib has set up a petition to send to the White House to recognize and stop the ethnic cleansing and forced displacement happening in Gaza. If you’re a US citizen please sign. I have no illusions that this will change policy, but the public outcry against their actions must continue. We will not be distracted or discouraged from continuing to object to these humans rights violations.

So much of my work rn is making me a direct audience to Palestinian Christians who are begging, pleading even, for our help. Christians, you do not get to look away from this. They are incredibly clear about what they need: ceasefire, prayers, protection. Do not look away, do not look away, do not look away.

yesterday afternoon a Syrian student at Stanford was hit by a car and told by the driver "fuck you and your people". he recognized the driver as someone who has been harassing Arab and Muslim students at pro-Palestine protests. the student was hospitalized after the being hit by this man's car. Stanford has yet to acknowledge that this was an anti-Arab, Islamophobic crime, and waited over eight hours after the incident to send out a warning to students. you can find more info and an email template to contact Stanford's administration at @/stanfordmsu and @/stanfordsjp on instagram

The Qatananis. The Abu Daqgas. The Al-Zaneens. The Chaabans. The Al-Attars. The Tahraouis. The Abu Hilals. The Al-Madhouns. Abu Zheir al-Lahham's family. Nasser Shamlakh's family. The Kulks. The Abu al-Oufs. The Halawas. The Saftaouis. The Azaize family. The Naffars.
These family names are amongst the families that were wiped out as a result of Israeli shelling and targeting of civilians of Gaza just during the past week.
It's reported that over 50 entire families, with multiple generations, have been wiped off the civil registry.
The word for this is genocide.
