Well, another night where I'm trying to go to sleep but sleep won't come to me, the cheeky bastard.
So why not ramble about Nikia and the maybe Izou/Thatch ship?
So, if I recall correctly, I had sorta planned on some drama with Thatch hiding part of his relationship cause he was trying to soft launch the idea to Nikia but didn't want to spook her away since she clearly did not do people. You know, with the whole, living on a mountain in near total isolation thing?
And I still like the easy drama but if I'm serious about it, I can't see it lasting the entire first week. Not totally at least. Izou would definitely give Thatch a day or so to make an ass of himself before popping up. And as ill inclined to socialize as she is, Nikia isn't stupid and knows gay people exist. She's just got enough tact to not outright ask once she sees them interacting.
She likely gets a few brownie points from Izou when he notices she's trying to give them couple space and time without making it awkward. Does bully Thatch about chasing her out of her own home though. He's a very physically expressive man and it's almost impressive she doesn't pick up on his intentions. Izou takes longer to really get behind the idea of her as a partner but I'm pretty damn sure they'd both be weak to someone who likes taking care of them a little.
Whether it's in fights or little things like fresh sheets while they're out. It really gets to them when someone takes the time to do something nice for them. They also like someone fretting over them when they stay out too late and come back covered in snow. Swiftly bundled up in front of the fire with a hot drink fixed up.
(Thatch giving Izou a sly look cause he knows damn well Izou is loving the shit out of this)
Also the hugs. Half the reason Nikia has big, fuck off wings is cause hugs would be so damn comfy. It'd be criminal to not consider it a positive.
Maybe there's a super dense snowstorm at one point that forces them to sleep in the main room, the upper level 'sealed' off to retain heat without wasting firewood and they cuddle lol. It takes a bit of work cause Nikia curls up in a ball, used to sleeping alone, and they have zero issue with physical space. But the end result is super cozy and cute. Thatch is teary eyed in the morning cause he doesn't want to get up, half buried in feathers, hands curled around Izou's waist and Nikia's hip. She's just sandwiched in there and buried her face in his chest, Izou right behind her.
If they sleep for another few hours, no one's the wiser lol, but Thatch absolutely uses the incident as propaganda for why they should totally go for it.
Chickens out when Izou calls him on it though lol

Okay so! I had to brush up on him a little bit since it's been a while since I've seen this goober pal around with his bald buddy but from what I understand:
Given that whole "every fight I've lost was only by a hair" schtick he and Yosaku have going on, he's definitely prideful - this means he wants to show off for his partner, show that he's the big strong man even in a relationship between men, maybe that means he's holding out doors for you, maybe it means rolling around in the mud to see who's stronger and making out later
If the two of you get sick from the germs afterward, oh well
This also means that he's difficult in arguments, unfortunately - he's not the type to start them for no reason, no - but Johnny definitely takes his time cooling down, especially if he thinks he's in the right, and it's even longer til he's ready to talk it out properly
He's in his mid twenties, he's young and stubborn, Johnny sticks to his guns and he's reluctant to admit "weakness" even if that has nothing to do with anything you disagreed about; it takes some space and cajoling from Yosaku, but eventually he'll agree to sit down and talk it out
He likes to act like the serious one out of the duo, but his immaturity where silly things like pride is concerned is definitely something worth addressing
After that though, after he's long let soak that he's the idiot in the situation, he puts his all into making it up to you - he's not great at expressing it straightforwardly in the beginning, getting that first "sorry" out of him early in the relationship was almost like pulling teeth, so he goes out of his way to make grand gestures of how much he really cares about you
Long-term this isn't sustainable of course, you tell him that for sure, he's aware he's hard to love sometimes, but deep down he wants reassurance that you'll be there for him while he sorts through the messy unflattering bits of himself - when you do give him that solid bit of comfort, he seems to loosen up a bit, let you in a bit more into that eclectic little head of his
He's not the strongest, or the smartest, and maybe he puts a little too much stock into rumors and superstitions, but he's willing to fight like hell for you once he's attached, and by god he's gotten attached to you, man
So maybe cut him a little slack when he shows up drenched with his cliche bouquet of roses and soaked snacks for your date, yeah?

You fix your appearance in the mirror one last time, catching your husband's reflection making subtle—intentionally muted—motions you recognize as Katakuri chewing his lip behind his scarf again. If he wasn't so worried about appearances, you'd suspect that chewing would show on his otherwise perfectly manicured fingernails.
"Kata-kun," he perks up at the term of endearment, leans down when you gesture to pick a piece of lint out of his hair.
He glares at the offending particle, a blemish on his spotless appearance, yet his gaze softens when you cup his much larger head in your hands to turn his gaze to you. You're perfect as you stand before him, not a hair out place or crumb on your cheek could change that. Not the lines under your eyes from hard nights' work and especially not when you survive hard-won tummy ache battles.
And, in his eyes, he's wholly unworthy to stand at your side as the flawed person he is, putting up that faultless mask for the people around him.
"We'll be fine." You press a kiss to Katakuri's forehead, something unspoken beneath your reassurance.
It wasn't easy for Katakuri to agree to something like this; of course, he'd do anything to be the exemplary partner you deserved, but turning off a reflex that'd borderline become part of his identity proved to be more difficult than he'd like to admit.
The two previous dates "without haki" had gone as smoothly as he could manage; using his future sight once his nerves got the better of him on the first [just a little peek wouldn't hurt, right?], and being forced to on the second when the lovely picnic you had planned with him was crashed by wannabe rookie pirates stepping into the Tottoland territory without knowing what they were getting to.
They were easy pickings for him, let alone the both of you together, but because of that Katakuri wanted to make sure that this time, you'd get the perfect date you asked for.
[See: You didn't actually ask for "The Perfect" date, but he made a fuss in his own mind about it anyway.]
So you set out with him today, taking a pleasant stroll through private gardens on the quieter side of Komugi Island before making a detour through the town to pick up pastries you'd ordered the night before - it's brief, so ogling of Whole Cake's creme of the crop can be kept to an absolute minimum. You've gotten used to the usual stares and some glares from the fan club, but the only thing that matters to you is the look on your husband's face when he turns to check on you.
Katakuri is perceptive enough to notice unwarranted looks even without his haki, you ease his worries with a squeeze of his arm and a passive wave.
He is, however, slightly spooked by a fat orange tabby on the way out of town without his future sight. Kata's grateful that there's no one but you here to giggle at the blunder, only slightly huffy at the laughter that rises from your person as you give the clever creature scratches and praise.
The two of you don't really relax until you're in the safe, private confines of the mochi construction your husband typically builds to eat his merienda in. This time, it takes the form of a grand but sealed gazebo.
Peace and quiet for the next hour or so secured, you let lose to rummage through the giant treat basket you picked up in town. With an offering of kisses and a giant spoonful of pudding to his mouth, Katakuri doesn't take long to unravel either, tucking his scarf neatly aside and allows himself to be drawn into your presence, your warmth.
You spend much more time than intended in that secluded little gazebo, the amble bubbling of the juice river outside a comfortable faraway thought as you spend your afternoon with Katakuri, joined only by that cheeky orange tabby content to laze around cutely in exchange for short belly rubs.
At some point you find yourself half asleep on your husband's chest, kissing his scars and unwilling to so much as expend the energy to check the time. The cat's asleep on his other pec, you press your forehead against it, careful not to wake the man beneath you. Because you know it means going back to work, back to the not-so-hum-drum life of living in Big Mom's empire and conquering islands to grow her territory.
That darling man you'd sacrifice life and limb for, the man you married despite hell and high water and his batshit family because you loved him more than life itself.
Still, being a Charlotte was exhausting, Katakuri knew this more than anyone, so you chose to be selfish just this once and went back to sleep, disturbing nothing in this dreamy little fantasy you'd built with him for the one afternoon a month he was free enough to spend with you, his partner.
