i just pointed out in my judaism class that itā€™s interesting to me that when asked Godā€™s name, God did respond with the ineffable name (the tetragrammaton) but put a much greater emphasis on who they are the God OF (Iā€™m the God of Abraham, the God of Moses, etc.).
and my teacher said she feels a kinship with that because she remembers the joy that came with the first time she was called ā€œ(sonā€™s name)ā€™s momā€, and how beautiful it feels be named for who you love. and i almost burst into tears

Some of my favourite requiem chasubles. We never see priests wearing anything like this anymore. Memento mori!

Catholic academia:
gothic cathedrals, the smell of incense, getting up early for Matins, someoneā€™s old prayer book forgotten in the pew, greek philosophy, finding a rosary in your autumn coat, baroque altarpieces, trying to read Augustine and Aquinas, empty church in the middle of the day, sound of footsteps on the stone floor, pictures of saints as bookmarks, light coming through the stained glass windows

Sometimes I like to look at a fictional character and go what aspect of Christianity would most fix you, not of course divorced from the rest of it but just like what would your character have thematic interplay with the most that would hit you in a deep place and be a specific point of grace for you. Anyways Kaz Brekker would be the Immaculate Conception. Batman is the works of mercy. Ben Solo and Divine Mercy/the Prodigal Son. Thereā€™s something out there for Lex Luthor
