Considering Smokescreen never have a on screen checkup by Ratchet. I like he somewhat in pain for most of the series but always try to fight through it since he thinks there 's are way more important things going on right now than his own pain.

Something something about Smokescreen being able to connect with a human immediately unlike the rest of the team that is made up out of Cybertaions like him and yet unable to interact with that human for the rest of the season.

I wonder if the reason why Smokescreen never went into details about his time at boot camp is because he thinks his experience there was nothing special and it just a bunch silly shenanigans that he fondy remember but since he wanted to make a good impression on the team and want them not give him any judgemental looks , he decided just never talk about to anyone unless they are close to him like Bulkhead. Either that or he have a bit of a rough time at boot camp and he really rather not talk about it all avoiding the subject as much as he could.

Considering how rough military boot camp are in real and how much of a little pranker Smokescreen can be if he want to . I think it's probably a mix of both
