Slow pace today. I was aiming for 7 but got to 4 and felt good, so I decided to get in an extra mile. My mind needed the extra time on the road, too.

2x2 Mile Interval Run
I tried to keep the interval pace at 11:00 min/miles. First one was spot on, but the second one not so much. I guess I ran out of gas.
I got pretty down and upset with myself. I let things I can’t change affect me mentally and that threw off my workout routine for about a month. But then I reminded myself that I have to be somewhere in order to improve, and with consistency, I can do that. It’s going to be okay. We keep pushing.

4 Mile Treadmill Run
I had to split it up into two sessions because the treadmill setting I used stopped the workout just before 30 minutes for a cooldown and I had to restart. I’ve always been annoyed with default sessions. I’ll stop you when I’m good and ready, machine. 😤
A storm was rolling through- rain, big waves, and crazy winds. I got quite the view from my spot in the hotel gym. A few people were brave and tried to enjoy the hot tub, but soon vacated when the rain picked up.

Long Run Day: 7 Slowww Miles
It was a hot one out. Luckily there were some shaded places. I did a considerable amount of walking, but got the miles in.
I saw some goats and lots of scenic views.
Yesterday, we took a drive along the northern part of the island, and did some mini hikes along the way. Very tired when we got back, but it was a great way to see more of what’s out here.

Today we
Drove to the top of Mauna Kea!
We made several stops to make sure we didn’t get elevation sickness. At half way or more, we stopped to hike out a short way to crater Lake Waiau. We felt that elevation. 😳
It was otherworldly up there, and quite stunning.

It’s beautiful on the big island, but very hot! Oahu has a warmer temp, but Hawai’i island has a greater UV index. I think it’s time for some reading poolside!

New Year’s Eve Run into
Golden Hour
Ran 8 casual miles this evening, and I stopped to enjoy the view along the way. I saw some mongeese, lots of happy birds, beautiful flowers, a rooster yelling at me from above in a tree, and several lovely lounging cats. I also watched a beautiful sunset, and spied a few early fireworks across the loch.

I always feel super strong when I do this route. I remember how hard it used to be for me, and now I crush it. I’m so thankful.
Progress is so empowering! Never forget where you used to be, so you can understand how far you’ve come.

Beautiful Day ☀️
The house is all ready for our party tonight. Only a few more things to bake before guests arrive later, so I went out and got a few easy miles in before consuming my weight in tasty food, treats, and homemade sangria. 😋
New running/lifting plan starts Monday! I’m excited to pick up the weights again.
