Catherine of Braganza, queen consort of King Charles II of England, portrayed on the ceiling of her rooms at Windsor Castle (the Queen’s Presence Chamber and the Queen’s Audience Chamber, respectively). These ceilings were commissioned by her husband, the King, and painted by Antonio Verrio. Verrio would eventually decorate most of the state rooms in Windsor Castle, working continually for Charles and Catherine between 1678 and 1685. After the death of Sir Peter Lely in 1684, it was Verrio who would become the Principal Painter to the King.

I feel as though doctor who holds a very sacred part of academia. It hold the childlike whimsy of it. Staying up past your bedtime to read under your blankets, learning something new and raving to your parents about it, finally figuring out what you want to be when you’re older, knowing useless funfacts. Doctor who holds it all, and does it beautifully.
