you know what i loved about the finale?
all this talk about sylki vs lokius, and everyone fighting over betting which one will be canon-
when in the end, this show was never about romance. it was about love, but it was never about romance. it was always about loki learning to heal and to be loved, and sacrifice, and hope, and a bunch of cool sci-fi shit!! it was about him not wanting to be alone.
(but ultimately in the end, he has to be)
when loki turns to sylvie and mobius, they desperately try to open the door to stop him, because of course it's them who see him for the last time. it was always them. he says 'for you' because they were the two most important people to him this entire series.
when i went to look at people's thoughts on that scene, i just saw everyone arguing like HELL about who loki meant, hating on each other's ships, being devastated lokius wasn't canon (same, but in the good angsty way, not in the we hate the writers for doing this) etc.
guys! that wasn't the point of the scene! he loves them both, he was saying it to both of them. he didn't want to kill sylvie, and he couldn't watch mobius die again.
season 2 has exceeded season 1 for me in so many ways, but especially because of the scrapping of romance. it's been incredible to see these relationships become vague and blurry, the line between friendship and love and romance completely up to the viewers. it's been heaven for me, who ships both sylki and lokius.
anyways the finale was amazing, this show is amazing, and this season was amazing. i really really hope there's a third season or that they show up in other marvel projects IMMEDIATELY.

*spoilers below for Season 2, Episode 3 of Loki!!!!*
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Listen, you have no idea how excited I was when Loki said "I've never met this man in my life" about Victor. 10/10, absolutely flawless.
But for real, my jaw was on the floor for the entirety of Loki s2e3. I mean, we all knew Miss Minutes was definitely evil, but that took a turn I was totally unprepared for. I'm going to need the full week to process everything she said. And the fact that Sylvie didn't kill Victor because he was just a variant who hadn't done anything wrong yet, just like she was when she was kidnapped? Beautiful!
I'm so invested in the plot of this season, and I think a lot of that is due to the care that the cast and crew have taken with these characters. I love that I'm never sure whose side I'm on, and that ambiguity is what makes the show so compelling. (I think we can all agree that we're against whatever Miss Minutes is planning though. She needs to be permanently dismantled)

Oppenheimer easter egg in Jurassic Park
I was beyond the moon to find out about Jurassic Park's return to theaters for it's 30th anniversary, because it's one of my favorite movies, and I've never had the chance to see it on the big screen. It was just as epic as you would expect. But one of the upsides to seeing it that big is that you start to notice details that there's no way you would see otherwise. For example, I saw this picture taped on Dennis Nedry's computer...
Tumblr media
And even though it was only on the screen for a few seconds, I could have sworn I was looking at Oppenheimer. I haven't seen the Oppenheimer movie, nor have I seen any real life photos of him. But I just had this gut feeling that that's who it was. And sure enough, when I looked it up later, guess what I found:
Tumblr media
And oh my gosh, Nedry having that picture just adds so much to his character. Bear with me here on my analysis, because once again, I haven't seen Oppenheimer and I'm not that familiar with the real life events. Nedry is very much a character who feels unappreciated for the great things he is doing. It gets brought up pretty frequently throughout the movie, and it's such a big point that he even decides to betray Hammond because of it. Obviously it's highly debatable on whether or not Oppenheimer did "great" things (I personally think that nuclear weapons should never have been created, but I guarantee there are people who disagree with me). But the point is that NEDRY idolizes him. Nedry probably sees a scientist who discovered something world-changing and wasn't given admiration for it. And he can relate to that!
And then if you take a step back from Nedry and look at some overall themes, there's that whole "your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should " connection. Scientists bring back dinosaurs, and the dinosaurs kill people, which makes their choice to bring them back objectively bad. Same thing happened with the creation of the atomic bomb. They were so focused on accomplishing their goal that they didn't pause and think about the tragic consequences that would follow. (I mean, I'm sure they knew people would die, but probably not how many and how sickening of an effect it would have on those who survived).
Anyway, discovering that detail was really cool for me because I don't think I would have noticed it if A). I hadn't gone to see Jurassic Park in theaters, and B). If Oppenheimer hadn't come out for me to even know who he was or what he looked like. I have such a deep respect for filmmakers and their dedication to creating characters who feel like believable people.

Guess who finally got around to seeing Across the Spider-Verse! I won't lie, I'd seen so much Spider Society fanart leading up to the movie that I wasn't really that excited to see them onscreen. Instead, Spot took the spotlight. What can I say? I like goofy-looking characters

Tangled/The Great Gatsby
Tumblr media
So I was listening to the Tangled score, and when I got to the track called Return to Mother, I was thinking about this scene in the movie. Eugene was about to kiss Rapunzel, but stops himself when he sees the Stabbington brothers in the distance. Now here's the thing. They're holding that green lantern. So Eugene essentially sees a green light on the other side of the lake. Where else is there prominent mention of a green light on the other side of a lake? The Great Gatsby. I don't remember much about the symbolism in that book, but if I recall correctly, the green light was meant to symbolize something along the lines of "unobtainable dreams". And what's interesting is that at this point in Tangled, Eugene chooses to go back to settle things with the Stabbingtons and leave behind his dream of becoming rich. (And he gives it up for Rapunzel, because she is real and right there in front of him, whereas the riches were just the dream of a poor orphan child as a means of coping with his situation)
There are probably better conclusions to draw from that comparison, and I think it's a stretch to say that this was a planned reference, but I just thought it was neat. :)

The idea of a Labyrinth/Owl House crossover has been floating around in my mind lately ... Not sure how Jareth would feel about Hooty. Hooty would probably love Jareth though, seeing as how he's another owl-based character to talk to. King would probably love him too because he's an all powerful ruler. Luz has probably seen Labyrinth, so she'd be starstruck and she'd ask him a million questions about his kingdom and the creatures who live there. Eda would claim that he's copying her whole "crazy hair/transforming into an owl" thing.

So, fun fact about me, I've got an obsession with the 1986 movie Labyrinth. It's one of those movies I've watched since I was a toddler, and it has consistently stayed on the top of my favorite movie list. I recently fell back down the fandom rabbit hole after discovering a comic on DeviantArt called Girls Next Door (if you haven't read it, you totally should! The creator is Pika-la-Cynique). Anyway, this is what I imagine my gown would look like if I was in the Labyrinth. It's pretty similar to Sarah's because I'm in love with that dress, but I thought I'd add my own touches.

Fuck cottagecore, I want 80s fantasy film core. The sky is a strange hazy amber color, the foliage is purple, and everything is covered in an obscene amount of glitter. There are muppets and/or Hensonian creatures everywhere. Tim Curry is probably there. Everyone is dressed like they're going to a renaissance festival. There are wild chickens running around underfoot. I am the town bookseller, which basically means my shop is filled to the brim with dusty, leatherbound books that I will either sell or potentially give away to you, if you express sufficient interest in them. You read these books and then have magical coming-of-age adventures and save the world. You try to bring the books back later but I tell you to keep them. There are unicorns and fairies and goblins and giants and other feral magical creatures without names who want to eat you. Be safe out there.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this yet and it's really going to bother me if I don't say something...
So in the new Puss In Boots movie, one of the antagonist groups is Goldilocks and the three bears, right? It works really well for this movie and I love them as characters... Except, in the first Shrek, we see that the three bears already exist, which wouldn't be a problem if the mom didn't get turned into Farquad's rug.
I'm too stubborn to believe it's just a continuity error, so I'm accepting any and all theories 馃槀

GO SEE STRANGE WORLD!!!!
Oh my gosh, I went with a friend today, and the two of us were just blown away! The visuals, the music, and THE STORY are just so incredible! There were a lot of pretty funny jokes (although it doesn't take much to make me laugh, so my idea of funny might differ from everyone else's). I know that the character Ethan caused some controversy because he's gay, but anyone who boycotts this movie because of that is a fool, because Ethan was such a sweet and amazing character. This movie covered so many good themes that are important to talk about. It also does good job of providing that classic Disney heart, and I can tell just how much care the crew put into it. Also, this was my first time watching the new Disney 100 logo in theaters, and I nearly cried ... It felt like the beginning of a new era and my inner child was thriving for a few seconds.

Having hyperfixations for me is kinda like how people talk about falling in love and getting married.
When I get a brand-new hyperfixation, it鈥檚 fireworks and butterflies in the stomach and stars in my eyes whenever I see anything related to it and sweet shivers down my spine whenever I hear someone mention it. It鈥檚 late nights researching every tidbit I can find about it. It鈥檚 the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I think about as I fall asleep at night. It makes me so indescribably happy and I can鈥檛 imagine my life without that thing.
But after a while, the fireworks fade and the butterflies go to sleep, and it鈥檚 not sparkly and new and exciting anymore. I don鈥檛 feel like I鈥檓 physically dying if I go an hour without thinking about it. It鈥檚 no longer the (only) thought that I fall asleep to at night. But instead, it becomes something old and familiar and deeply comforting. I can exist in the same space as it, just enjoying its presence, without needing to interact with it, just appreciating it and everything we鈥檝e been though together: all the fics, all the fanart, all the hours of daydreaming.聽
It鈥檚 turned into a deeper love that I know will stay with me always. I know those characters, those stories, will always have a special, deep place in my soul, and even if it鈥檚 been years since I鈥檝e thought about that particular hyperfixation, I still feel something soft and warm unfurl inside me when someone mentions it or I unexpectedly run across something that reminds me of it.
Hyperfixations never go away for me. They turn into companions whom I may no longer be head-over-heels infatuated with, but whom I love from the deep places of my heart and whom I know as well as I know myself.
I love every hyperfixation I鈥檝e ever had, and I will love them always.

Got into the Fantastic Beasts movies finally! I haven't done a whole lot of fanart lately since I've been bogged down by schoolwork, but I made time to draw Newt! (Sorry about the poor quality of the background.... I drew this in my sketchbook first)

Alright, so I was rewatching Wall-E (because it's a fantastic film that deserves a lot of recognition), and something occurred to me. The ship where a large part of the movie takes place is called The Axiom, and it's described as "the jewel of the BNL fleet". That implies that there were more ships .... But we only ever see The Axiom throughout the duration of the movie. So what happened to those other ships? Are there more people out there just chilling in space? I would assume those other ships would have charted a course back to Earth alongside The Axiom if it was their flagship, but I swear they only show the one ship landing at the end of the movie.
