My skin should not determine the way I am treated.

I was incredibly insulted today. I went for a pedicure with my mother and before hand kept getting stared at because of the psoriasis on my legs. Well the woman went to her boss and I was forced to explain to him what was wrong with me after he said “can you get that? What’s wrong with you?” I was ready to cry. When it got to the part where they rub your leg she refused because she didn’t want to “catch it”. I know I should not be that hurt over this, but I am. I was refused a service because of what I look like. This is not the first time that this has happened. Just because my skin is different… You say I don’t understand, but the truth is I do.

I am utterly mortified by this I am a beauty therapist myself and I myself have psoriasis and every single beauty therapist should know exactly what psoriasis is and that is isn't contagious! I am so so sorry you had to go through such an awful experience I am literally in shock you had to explain yourself to her and repeat that you wasn't contagious I always feel the need to let people know about my psoriasis but to have that 'therapist' actually refuse to do a part of the treatment is disgusting I completely understand how you feel when people are looking at you and whispering Come to my salon petal I'd never make you feel like that xxxxx

Minus the fact Cara Delevingne’s tummy is like 1000000000000000000000 times tinier than mine, The fact that she has the same white marks from psoriasis on hers makes me that tiny little less self conscious about them
