Wanted to draw Danny for Halloween but drawing him as a ghost would be too cliche. So perhaps after a bad ghost fight, he’d just go for the laziest costume of nothing at all and call it a zombie.

There's so much to love about Maternal Instincts but I really super extra love the piggyback ride

It's funny because there's no explanation. I'm pretty sure Maddie's just coddling Danny. Yes Danny just did a lot of running from the mutant ghosts so he could be tired, but Maddie had just fought all those ghosts off. Danny also tripped pretty bad over a log but there's no indication that he twisted an ankle or anything. In fact, we only see the piggyback ride for two seconds before Danny casually jumps down so he and Maddie can talk face to face.

But here's my favorite thing about this moment: it's not played for laughs. It would have been perfectly on-brand for the show if Danny made some comment about being thankful no one could see them like this. It doesn't matter that they have bigger fish to fry— if Danny Fenton feels like complaining, he makes time to complain.

It's so endearing to me, seeing our superpowered protagonist in an extremely vulnerable situation (literally powerless) letting his mommy carry him (again, literally and metaphorically). Danny is typically resistant to help like this, but we don't see it here. Right before this scene we had the emotional turning point of the episode, where Danny hugged Maddie and told her "You're awesome!" It takes Maddie by surprise but she melts into it. The above shot is the next thing we see, and the apparent lack of necessity for the gesture or any awkwardness around it gives it an air of normalcy. It stands in huge contrast to the rift between Danny and Maddie at the start of the ep. We start to believe that these two were indeed very close for years, you know?

gosh it's cute it's REALLY cute!!!!

i brainstormed some ideas for a sideways-portal for the second phanniemay theme for fun and ended up getting sort of into it. i thought it would be neat if the portal was reimagined as something less in the direction of a door, but more like a well. theres a lot of significance behind wells and similarly-shaped holes as portals of their own, especially in fairy tales, and though thats not really the same genre as danny phantom, i thought it could result in some interesting scenes, especially composition-wise. the last one, in particular, is inspired by that ending scene from one of my favorite movies: ‘the ring’ (the american one lol)

plus could you imagine the fentons retrofitting a hot tub in the basement to make a ghost portal, only for it to result in TOTAL DISASTER  bc i think that would be a pretty hilarious scenario

ill keep this out of the main tag for phanniemay since these are technically still WIPs (that i might not ever finish, sorry) but i figured id at least share what i had as alternate ideas for theme 2: ‘portal’. i really wish i had time to follow through on my fanart ambitions like i could last year but oh well what can u do

I believe that before Danny’s portal accident Sam and Tucker kind of squabbled for dominance in their trio, both wanting to be the ‘leader,’ while Danny kind of passively sat there listening to them. He wants to calm them down but at the same time butting in when he’s not the one they have a problem with might make them angrier.

After he becomes half-ghost, of course, Tucker and Sam are humbled by their experience watching their friend actually die, whether they believe he’s dead now or not they thought he was gone forever while he was being electrocuted, so now whenever he says something, they listen.

They share thoughts and information, act when they need to, but Danny’s kind of the only one who doesn’t realize he’s the person they view as being ‘in charge’ most of the time.

I just noticed that this is a gesture Vlad does in the show quite often? Like it is so funny
