ALDNOAH FINALE SHOOT REAL HOLY SHIT!
I cannot believe we managed to pull this off.
This was truly a shoot I’ve yearned to do for almost 8 years now. I’m very emotional over the fact that it’s real.

Science Section: Day 3 [The Strategist]
Eventually, everything fails; the moment something is created, its internal clock starts ticking until it reaches the point where it reaches that point of destruction. But at the same time, “matter can neither be created nor destroyed”. Is this some sort of paradox?
In fact, those two statements are both true. Failure of something does not necessarily mean its destruction but rather the destruction of its current form; in a way, it can be thought of as transforming into something else according to conditions. Like a phoenix rebirth kind of thing.
One example is the ‘destruction’ of an ice cube: under certain conditions (an ambient temperature of 32°C or less) the ice cube’s form is still changing, but its freezing as soon as its melting so it appears to remain the same. An increase in temperature would make it melt too quickly, to the point that its change of state is detectable by the human eye. Heat it up even more and it will go from water to steam – but water can also immediately become steam when exposed to high enough temperatures.
Tumblr media
The change in state is the ‘destruction’ of the ice cube and the ‘creation’ of water or steam, but the matter that makes up all three of those things is the same. This transformation has a ‘cost’ in the form of heat, so that eventually, the ice cube will seem ‘destroyed’ regardless of state.
Tumblr media
Another example would be when a certain Orange Kataphrakt faced a Martian Kataphrakt called the Elysium. The phenomenon that that Kataphrakt Elysium represents – the Meissner effect – can be simplified into the consideration of magnetic fields and temperature. Obviously, while temperature was explicitly shown in the battle against Elysium, magnetic fields cannot be directly observed. However, the magnetic field is indirectly seen when the Elysium deflects the bullets of the UFE Kataphrakts and this is achieved by a combination of a material characteristic (the composition of the Kataphrakt) and the temperature of the nearby environment. Elysium caused the surrounding temperatures to reach something close to absolute zero – where even molecules cannot move. By manipulating the environment like this, Elysium facilitates the Meissner effect to cause the bullets to fly off course.
Tumblr media
However, the Meissner effect produces a weak or nonexistent magnetic field, which can be disrupted in two ways – destroyed abruptly through a first order phase transformation (such as evaporation, condensation, sublimation, etc.) or gradually through an increasing (opposing) critical magnetic field. From the anime, it can be possibly assumed the bullets Inaho utilized were Type-II superconductors. This would mean that the Meissner effect is not entirely in effect and with the application of a grenade launcher, the explosion of such grenades would induce a temperature gradient for the local area, which through 20 rounds could make a path for Inaho to reach the Kataphrakt Elysium without freezing.
Tumblr media
Pretty impressive for Inaho to have not only known all that, but managed to apply it as well in such a tense situation. And that’s why he’s such a good strategist – you could say that he was able to keep a cool head while facing off the Elysium! That’s the end of today’s science section for Day 3: The Strategist, and a good day to you all.

Science Section: Day 6 [The Hero]
Before getting into the science, the first question that needs to be asked is – what is a hero?
Asking Google to define the term will give the answer that a hero is “a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements or noble quliaities,” and uses “a war hero” as an example.
One such hero that comes to mind when considering the matters of war and the quandary of what can be done to end all wars – to mitigate casualties – was a man named J. Robert Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer was among the scientists behind the Manhattan Project, which resulted in the creation of the atomic bomb. His creation sparked not only a potential “quick” end to World War II but the birth of a new potential line of armament – nuclear weaponry. Even to this day, his creation continues to bring debate about whether or not the atomic bombs should have been dropped and discussion of nuclear weapons continue to plague modern society.
Tumblr media
Shortly after the atomic bombings, Oppenheimer was stripped of his clearance and publicly humiliated to point of losing any credibility as a political figure due to his radical opinions on sensitive topics such as the Second Red Scare. To add insult to injury, Oppenheimer’s role in the atomic bomb research led to a new disturbing fear for scientists – the inability to control how their research is used.
In a similar light, the effects of Heavens Fall is continuously felt before and during Aldnoah.Zero. To stop the war from dragging on, the Hypergate was destroyed. This led to the destruction of the moon, which resulted in dire consequences for both sides. The Martians were stranded and the people of Earth suffered from the deadly debris of the Moon and having to live with a terror far closer to home than ever before. The irony of Heavens Fall and the end of the Second Interplanetary War, however, is that Kaizuka Inaho’s father had inadvertently caused Heavens Fall and Kaizuka played a pivotal role in concluding the war. Yet, irony and heroism come hand in hand.
Tumblr media
By “rescuing” Princess Asseylum and stopping Count Saazbaum-Troyard, Kaizuka Inaho restored monarchy to the Vers Empire but the problems plaguing both sides meant a return to the status quo. The Second Interplanetary War may be over for now, but how long will the peace last? Orbital Knights still remain on Earth and the populace of the Vers Empire still suffer, especially those of the lower classes. Also, Earth suffered great losses throughout the war and a simple barter of Martian Technology cannot easily wipe away years of bloodshed. And with Dr. Troyard’s research, it may result in civil unrest as the people of Earth gain access to such technology which only the privileged – the Orbital Knights – have access to on Vers.
Tumblr media
So Hero of Earth, is there another war on the horizon, one to make the heavenly blue sky red once again?
That’s it for today’s science section. Tomorrow is the mystery theme day and the grand finale of Inaweek, so stay tuned!

Day 6: The Hero
“Giving into despair is a foolish choice.”
Tumblr media
They say that every man is the hero of his own story. Despite his flaws, Inaho remains a leader who managed to aid those he cared about during a time of conflict, playing a crucial part in ending the second Earth-Mars war.
The sixth day’s theme is built around the role Inaho plays in Aldnoah.Zero - that of a hero. Even if he’s done some morally questionable things, it’s undeniable that his actions have not only protected those in the Deucalion crew but also inspired them as Inaho’s plans guided them to victory against impossible odds. And of course, there’s the fact that he managed to save Slaine Troyard’s life on Asseylum’s request.
Please tag your work for today with #inaweek:hero or #inaweek:hero_[product] if you want it to be found and reblogged by the Inaweek tumblr. If you’re posting a fic on AO3, just using  #inaweek:hero is fine.
