Discover Bedminster's Secret Gardens this June
Bedminster’s Secret Gardens is a delightful event where more than 25 private gardens reveal their hidden treasures. Taking place on the weekend of 15th and 16th June, you’re invited to explore a variety of enchanting green spaces. Let’s dive into the a few of the garden secrets:
Wildlife-Friendly Hedgehog Haven: Imagine a cozy corner where hedgehogs find refuge. This garden is a haven for these spiky little creatures.
Perfectly Petite Pink Paradise: A small but captivating pink oasis awaits. Sometimes, it’s the tiniest spaces that hold the most magic.
Wellbeing Haven for School Students: Gardens can be therapeutic. This one offers tranquility and rejuvenation, especially for young minds.
Award-Winning Multi-Layered Small Garden: Layers of greenery, textures, and colours create a masterpiece. Discover the secrets behind its accolades.
Bird-Song Filled Garden with a Rooftop Greenhouse: Birds serenade visitors as they explore this unique secluded garden. The rooftop greenhouse adds an extra touch of wonder.

For those seeking inspiration for small-space gardening, Bedminster’s Secret Gardens offers a wealth of ideas to explore.
Here’s how to make the most of your visit:
Guide and Map: Grab a free guide and map from Riverside Garden Centre, the Southville Centre, or Windmill Hill City Farm available from mid-May. Alternatively, download it from bloomingbedminster.org.uk.
Donation and Sticker: When you visit the first garden, make a minimum donation of £3 per adult (cash only, sorry we can’t take card donations). In return, receive a sticker that allows you to explore as many gardens as you like throughout the weekend. Your donation supports community gardening and environmental projects across BS3.
Dog-Friendly Gardens: Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in many of the gardens. Check the guide for specific details.
Refreshments: Some gardens offer refreshments, with gluten free and vegan option on offer too. Consult the guide to find out which venues are providing delightful treats.
Matthew Symonds of Blooming Bedminster, the event’s organizer, shares, “Secret Gardens is a fantastic community event. It’s truly inspiring to see the stunning gardens our residents have cultivated—your own green paradise awaits!”

It’s fewer than 100 days until this year’s Bedminster’s Secret Gardens on 15 and 16 June. Plans are well underway to prepare the guide and map. We’ve over 25 gardens opening - but there’s still room for more! If you’ve always wanted to open your garden - now’s your chance. Could you design this year's Greater Bedminster Good Front Garden Award?
Each year our volunteer judges deliver thousands of good front garden awards across BS3. We're now inviting designs for the 2024 award. The final design will be chosen by public vote in May.
Send your designs to [email protected] by Friday 12 April.
The design should be A4 sized - but can be portrait or landscape. There will need to be some space for the Blooming Bedminster logo and our sponsors logo. Other than that it's over to you - but this year we're looking for a really colourful design. We're really looking forward to receiving your designs.

Love gardening? Join South Bristol Gardening Club!
South Bristol Gardening Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at St Paul’s Church, Coronation Road, Southville. We're a friendly club and new members are very welcome.
Annual membership costs just £25 and runs from February to January, so for those joining part way through the year the membership fee is reduced pro-rata.
We have a varied and interesting series of talks and visits planned for 2024. South Bristol Gardening Club members enjoy free regular talks from expert speakers and subsidised visits to gardens throughout the year.
