Elphaba swiftly moves into the room after the library closed. After setting her bookbag next to her bed and removing her light coat and boots she settles on her bed. Leaning on the headboard she opens her history book intent on reading the next lessons in advance so she could have more in depth answers for the discussions to come.
Glinda had been out shopping for the better part of the day in town. It was the day before Lurelimas and the town surrounding Shiz had been bustling. She’d prided herself on practical gift giving. While she loved frivolous things like jewelry, Glinda found a certain self satisfying accomplishment in seeing someone who needed a scarf and used it throughout the year as needed. So when it came to Pfannee for instance, that was easy and she had gone about the halls of the dorms leaving presents by rooms. She was set to go skiing over the break and it had dawned on her that she hadn’t yet asked Elphaba if she had plans.
Finally a good hour later, and with one gift left in simple brown wrapping, nothing frivolous at all, she came back to the room intent on giving her gift. “You never did tell me if you had plans. “ It was said as the door closed behind her. Once her coat and boots were taken off, it’d been snowing when she came back in. Glinda was careful not to get any access water as she sat down on the edge of Elphaba’s bed carefully.
“And also, this is for you. I don’t expect anything back so don’t get all weird on me.” The package was sat down in Elphaba’s lap before she could even respond.

Glinda huffed . “Fine, see if I do anything nice for you again” It was said simply and got up, more annoyed with her attempts than anything else and moved to her own bed in a huff.

Glinda glanced to her. “Why not? What would it hurt?” She stopped and then started again. “Alright, OK maybe Pfannee and Shen Shen might not be the most pleasant but if you weren't so ...” So what? “Cynical all the time you can actually be somewhat pleasant. “ Elphaba got her thinking, that was something.

Glinda sighed, all she was trying to do was something nice and Elphaba was just...being Elphaba. “ You’re ...so infrustifying sometimes.” It was muttered no matter that the word wasn’t a word at all. “I’m just trying to do something nice.”

Glinda was distracted, but it was only for a moment. Most people ( unless they had to go out into it, ) found snow to be enchanting. Glinda always associated snow with calm and peace. But Elphaba, her room mate and someone who she did regard as a friend and confidant even if Elphaba didn’t. She wasn’t sure though. She did however devise a plan that she’d put into action later.
 “I’ll be right back.”
Glinda did get up then, despite not wanting to. She came back ten minutes later with a tray that had different pastries. cream puffs , eclairs and other items and set it on the table by the window. And again she was out and came back with a tea set only it contained warmed milk, and sugar (French style ) and marshmallows. Glinda then rummaged through her bottom desk drawer and came up with a canister of what looked like very fine cocoa mix.
“Elphie, have you ever tried Gilkenese hot chocolate?” There was a slight grin. It was hard to come by and apparently Glinda only used it for special occasions.

Glinda chewed on her lower lip for a moment and pulled her legs up and underneath her, Indian style after having turned to face Elphaba. “They aren’t my friends. “ It was said after a moment of studying the green girl. “They’re acquaintances, and possibly only that because of them wanting to have good standing.” It was all Glinda knew really, for the most part.
“Your really the only person I could call a friend despite how much of a mean, green thing you can be without even trying.” That was said with a slight grin that she tried to hold back but failed miserably. She had wanted to decorate the room for the holiday, but had only really had a chance to hang some mistle toe by the window. She wasn’t sure if Elphaba had noticed as it was between their two beds.
“I think you’d have fun if you let them get to know you Miss Elphaba. I was also invited home. No one should be alone on Lurelimas-” She had glanced out the window then and noticed the snow. It was really rather enchanting. “Look, Elphie it’s snowing.”

Glinda studied Elphaba for a moment. “Elphie, we just had exams. Why don’t you come skiing with us? The lodge has a library, if you don’t want to actually skii...” That also meant it was a good place to avoid Shen Shen and Pfanne who could be particularly cruel. And the more she started to get to know her room mate, the less she had come to pick on her. Glinda hadn’t said anything to the other girls, but she was beginning to think she should.
“At least think about it?”

Glinda shook her head. “It’s not what that’s about.” She was indeed sitting on her hands which made things difficult to take the gift back. “If’s yours, and I don’t expect anything in return, alright?”
It wasn’t meant as a means for Elphaba to feel ashamed about herself. If anything, Glinda had put more thought and done more research into what to get the green girl than anyone else.
“What are your plans for break?” She was changing the subject in fact, one that would hopefully be taken as a hint that she wouldn’t be taking back the said gift.

“It’s a present. See those strings? Untie it to open.” It was a gentle tease. But who knew if Elphaba had ever even gotten something like this before. When Elphaba opened the gift, it was a book. But not just any book, a Gilekense poet that was fairly well known. At least from what Glinda gathered when she’d inquired at the shop. She read, but the most of what Glinda was into was Vinkus romance novels.
“I’m guessing they involved reading. And Lurline knows you don’t need anymore but...” She just trailed off and picked at a stray string on the white skirt she had on that matched the school outfit.

"..it depends on what you mean by, scars." Glinda took a deep breath. " We all have them, some are just more visible than others." a pause. "But yes, believe it or not.I do have them."
do you have any scars?

..don’t give up..
The words sounded achingly familiar, and did finally look up to see familiar green skin. “Elphie?” It was asked quietly, in shock. But it was the gentle knock of one of the hand maids who had brought her supper. “Mistress Glinda?” Glinda got up quickly, stuffing the book under neath some papers on her desk and going to the door. “Just leave it, please. “ It wasn’t rude, just ..tired sounding. “Sir Chuffery says it’s been a day since you’ve eaten Mistress.” Chuffery. Glinda closed her eyes and shook her head as if the girl on the other side of the door could see. “I said leave it. And tell Chuffery to mind his own business.” Glinda waited till the girl left before speaking or turning to face Elphaba.
“Maybe I should, for all the good it does me, perhaps I’ve gone mad, thinking I’m talking to a ghost.”
I Wish..
{ ✗ ;; ɢʟɪɴᴅᴀ }
I Wish
Glinda wished a lot of things. The current wish though was the impossible. It was the last seven years of her life back. No, ten years, before everything happened, when she first met Elphaba Thropp back at Shiz. It was what she wished for. It was what she spent her time , what precious time she had to herself, away from it all attempting to do. Locked away in her study Glinda was content.
She was content to go over the Grimmerie and try to find a spell to cast, to take her back or to bring Elphaba back to her. Every year had been the same, a loveless marriage. A childless one, Chuffery was content with his affairs. He had status, money and power. And the freedom to do as he pleased. Glinda had seen to that. Ruling Oz was tiresome work and she’d given back every freedom that the Animals had lost. That the Wizard had taken from them. But nothing brought back the one person she wished for.
Glinda had gotten better, over the years at deciphering the Grimmerie’s language, but it wasn’t enough. But one spell, she had managed to read. “…to bring a person back to me..” The words were whispered in the darkness and thunder cracked in the distance causing her to shiver. “Lureline, why do I try.” It was said to an empty room.
Seven years since the melting of the Wicked Witch of the West. Seven years since Dorothy Gale came to Oz via tornado. Elphaba Thropp hadn’t been able to move on into an afterlife because for the Wicked there was none. There was no afterlife or after for the wicked or those with no soul. The Witch was not sure she even deserved one. She had gotten an entire family murdered and tortured, she never gained the forgiveness of her lover’s death nor was she able to rescue his daughter from the Wizard. She was not sure she even deserved the title of Wicked since she was unable to even gain a pair of shoes from a simple child. She was not good nor wicked, she was a failure if anything. Unable to accomplish helping the Animals, trying to protect Fiyero from the fallout of her political activism, to gain Sarima’s forgiveness or to protect the woman and her family. Oz thought of her as witch yet she was unable to see her own powers or read her own spellbook.
Glinda was making progress with the Grimmerie, able to read the spells. Perhaps it was because Glinda had taken classes on sorcery back in their days at Shiz. Something Elphaba regretted not sitting in on when offered the chance too.
                                                 ❝  Don’t give up, my dear.  ❞
The Witch whispered, her ghostly form moving across the room to where Glinda was. It reminded her so much of her days spend hunched over the old book at Kiamo Ko.
