Ducklings (Part 3)
Part 1 / Part 2
Prompt: Civillian!Kid(s) keep showing up to Hero's and Villain's fights (more applicable to parts 1 and 2 but this is a contuation of those c:)

"Again," Villain commanded.
Mikey grit his teeth and aimed at the target. He was frustrated, Villain knew, but if these kids were going to run around defying heroes and getting themselves in trouble then Villain would make sure they could at least defend themselves properly.
Marley had a talent for throwing knives but her endurance was low. At present she ran laps around the base while Charlie dug through the weapon pile for something he liked.
Villain called them together once Marley returned from outside. They sighed as the kids sat in a circle around them. Charlie tossed the tazer he'd found up in the air and caught it, then switched hands and did it again. Villain made sure to keep an eye on that out of the corner of their eye.
For a long moment they merely watched the three talk about their training. They were all so lively. It seemed...odd, to have them in a place like this. Villain frowned deeply. "Don't you kids want to go home?"
"Don't got one," Marley grunted. She looked irritated and her shirt was soaked through. Good. Villain was glad to see that she'd at least put in the effort despite all the complaints.
"That warehouse you saved us from was our base," Charlie piped in.
Mikey flipped the knife he was sharpening to check his work. "We were using this one room in the basement that no one ever went in. Got good at sneaking around pretty quick. Charlie's the best at it." He nodded to the youngest in the group, then gestured with the knife.
"Marley is our hard hitter. Charlie's our spy and special op." He went back to polishing. "And I'm the plan guy, I guess."
"You were our leader!" Charlie corrected.
Mikey grinned and gave a half-hearted shrug. "Sure. But now you're the boss, boss," he said to Villain.
Villain...didn't actually know much about these kids, they realized. They'd noticed the hierarchy of power, as the other two often differed to Mikey, but they really hadn't given much thought to where they'd come from. It's about time they fix that.
Villain stood and gave instructions for them to get back to work. They had business to take care of tonight.
~
Hero's patrol route was easy to predict and even easier to intercept. Villain snatched them mid stride and dragged them into the nearest alley.
"I need information."
Hero raised a brow, expression a mix of skeptical and surprised. "You say that as if I'd be willing to give you anything of the sort."
"Oh, you are," Villain assured. They withrew a folder from within their cloak. Hero eyed it as if it would bite if they reached for it, but accepted it nonetheless. "You've been looking for Other Villain." It wasn't a guess - Villain knew this for a fact. "You won't find them...without help."
Hero looked through the papers, then back up at the villain. "You'd sell out an ally? Just like that?"
"Not for free, no." Villain stepped closer to Hero. "I need information," they said again. They gave Hero another folder - this one much thinner. They allowed Hero to glance through its contents.
"This is-"
The hero was cut off by a knife at their throat.
"You tell anyone else about them and Supervillain will be the least of your worries," Villain hissed in their ear.
There was a tense moment in which neither dared to move. Then, with a soft exhale and the barest inclination of their chin, Hero was set free.
"A bit harsh for your methods," Hero commented gruffly. They felt their neck - the knife had broken skin, but not enough to let the wound bleed freely.
On any other day, Villain would have looked satisfied with the compliment. Today, they put a hand on Hero's shoulder and tapped the folder with the edge of their knife. Villain leaned close again, grip tightening, as a grin split their face, to deliver a final warning.
"Anything. For my kids."

This was so fun and fantastic to read! :D
I got so into the fic that I forgot that you hadn't declared your prompt lol. I remember reading and making these normal assumptions or at least these vibe assumptions if not actually the plot.
And you proved me wrong! I loved this non-cliche story! Gosh I love this genre of heroes and villains fics, whatever it is. I think it’s because of the little world and character details that flesh out the story?
Dear Evil Diary,
That is brilliant. I think this was the line that kept making me chuckle on my first read.
Evil cackle time with Boss ✔️ (He’s so dumb.)
Hehehehe, a true evil to-do list!
Mod Codex 📚
This was DELIGHTFUL and so refreshing (my civilian job has been crazy busy for...well a while😂, so it was nice to read something so light and fun and fluffy!)
I'm also gobsmacked that Codex didn't talk about Mosquito's (deleted) audio file🎉 That was gold and I loved the twist it revealed about the role Mosquito played in this dynamic!

Archnemesis: Midnight Devil, Lord of All Darkness, Master of the Fifth Spiral of Doom and Bane of Humanity
Mission Report: It all started on a gloomy Monday morning. I was drinking my coffee, which to my dismay had gone cold during my intense session of preparing for my first fight with my sworn nemesis. The Midnight Devil, Lord of All Darkness, Master of the Fifth Spiral of Doom and Bane of Humanity. After several hours of searching restlessly for clues about the villain’s secret base, I found it. A warehouse in the shady depths of the city. It had been believed to be abandoned for years, but I knew better. With my magnificent powers granted to me by my mysterious magical amulet, I punched down the door with a single blow!
But alas, The Midnight Devil, Lord of All Darkness, Master of the Fifth Spiral of Doom and Bane of Humanity must have sensed my glorious presence, for he had already fled, leaving not a trace of his presence behind. Yet I did not give up. I relentlessly continued my search for the rest of the week, working day and night to scour every last inch of the city for clues to my archnemesis’ whereabouts. But alas, despite my valiant efforts, The Midnight Devil, Lord of All Darkness, Master of the Fifth Spiral of Doom and Bane of Humanity nimbly out of my clutches at every turn.
So I have returned, outwitted but not defeated, to gain my strength for the formidable battles ahead, no matter what form they may take. And I shall be prepared.

Dear Evil Diary,
Today marks the first day that I, the most evil villain in all the land, shall finally be greeted with someone claimed to be a worthy foe. MUAHAHAHAHAHA! I have an evil scheme planned that will surely show them that no hero could ever overthrow my mighty and tyrannical rule!
First, I shall send my most loyal sidekick, Mosquito, to muddle the path of their noble quest until they are completely lost! Then, should they somehow surpass this obstacle and find me, I will be draped seductively over my couch, holding a remote control in one hand and petting a cat with the other! And then the remote will activate my trap, The Horror of The Depths, Reaper of Pure Souls and Crusher of Dreams! MUAHAHAHAHAHA! It’s flawless I say, completely flawless!
The hero didn’t show up. Were my evil schemes not wicked enough for them to feel the heroic need to thwart me? Were my riddles not clever enough? Was my dark and secret villain basement too cliche? No. Of course not. I must have just been too bad for them, and they fled in fear of my power, only to return stronger after a mandatory training montage!
Who am I kidding? I CAN’T WAIT THAT LONG! Note to self: Get Mosquito to find me a new hero asap. The most pure-hearted in all of the land, the chosen one, the mighty saviour! Who needs a pathetic wimp like whatever loser couldn’t even bother to show up to my evil scheme? I will reign victorious! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Mosquito’s To-Do List
Wash the dishes ✔️
Male sure your Pong score is higher than Elgye’s. That’ll piss him off ✔️ (Go me!)
Do the laundry ✔️
Automate the system so that Boss can stop waiting a whole hour signing his stupidly long villian name on every single document! ✔️
Pay rent ✔️
Thwart the new archnemesis  ✔️ (I didn’t even have to do anything! Free money, hell yeah!)
Cook dinner ✔️ (It’s always my turn. Ugh. Roommates.)
Evil cackle time with Boss ✔️ (He’s so dumb.)

Archnemesis: Midnight Devil, Lord of All Darkness, Master of the Fifth Spiral of Doom and Bane of Humanity
Mission Report: My tale begins on a foggy Saturday evening. I was on the way back to my secret base after another day relentlessly chasing after the Midnight Devil, Lord of All Darkness, Master of the Fifth Spiral of Doom and Bane of Humanity. Then, I saw him. A man obscured by shadows, trying to break into my secret base through the window! I checked the time, and much like I suspected, it was midnight. “Midnight Devil, Lord of All Darkness, Master of the Fifth Spiral of Doom and Bane of Humanity! I have caught you in the act!” I declared loudly, aiming a light in his direction.
Alas, he escaped back into the shadow before I could glimpse his face, nimble as the night itself! “Yes,” he growled, voice deep and muffled, “It is I. Find me on the Devil’s Lane next midnight, and we shall have our grand battle.” I refused, determined to catch him then and there! But like a demon returning to the pits of hell, he was gone. Nevertheless, I return victorious, with more information about the mysterious Midnight Devil, Lord of All Darkness, Master of the Fifth Spiral of Doom and Bane of Humanity than anyone has ever learnt before! And tomorrow, I will be victorious!

Dear Evil Diary,
Today was a beautifully evil day! I, The Midnight Devil, Lord of All Darkness, Master of the Fifth Spiral of Doom and Bane of Humanity, have finally encountered my mortal enemy! I found him, walking through my very lair like he owned it, holding a folder full of my darkest secrets!
He stood as still as a statue, clearly terrified by my mighty and powerful presence. “Are you the one that they call Bullet Storm? The only being believed capable of ever matching my unfathomable strength?” He stared back in noble silence, and I saw it all. His proud jaw, his golden hair, the subtle curves of muscle on his bare arms. Yes, I thought to myself, This is him. This is the one.
“Come, Bullet Storm, let us begin our glorious battle!” I declared, my cape waving dramatically behind me. But alas, Bullet Storm fled, as nimble as his name suggested. Nevertheless, my encounter with my fabled nemesis has sent villainous passion running through my veins. I began constructing my newest trap, a grand machine of unfathomable intricacy and evil glory. I shall name it the Hellfire Pit, Extinguisher of Light, Forge of the Darkest Flames and Death Bringer! And with it, I shall end this battle for once and for all! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!
Audio File Recorded By Mosquito, Deleted Immediately After Creation
“I don’t usually do this, but god, this week has been a mess. I’ll delete this after I’m done. Yeah, that’s a good move. Hell, I just need to say this insanity out loud.”
“First, I get caught by my roommate while trying to sneak back into the apartment. And for some reason, the dumbass thought I was my boss? So I just went along with it and it worked! God, he’s so stupid.”
“Then, I was leaving work without my suit to try avoid it happening again and my boss didn’t recognise me! He just thought I was his archnemesis for some reason? What is with me always falling in love with idoits? And why do I always play along?!”
“So now I’m playing the goddamn middleman for two conclusion-jumping morons. Why is this my life? What did I do to deserve this? …Ok, maybe that was a bad question, but still!”

Two Rival Supers Fight Same Imposter
A small street on the edge of the city suddenly became lively with action last week when a pair of “eternal rivals” confronted each other. Despite believing to have fought each other for two years, neither recognised the other. And their true nemesis had been hiding just beneath their noses the entire time. More on page 3.

#platonic relationships#detective#finally it’s been so long since I’ve included one !#they both clasp their hands when they need to think
O. M. G!!!
Dude, first the trigger warning! I can't believe you used the concept of trigger warning as a plot twist kinda?
Like, I was into the story and Detective started talking and I was like, dude this is sad maybe they forgot to put that death trigger?
And Detective continued and I was like, hmmm, maybe there's a reason they didn't tag? Maybe they're not dead? Then why is Detective telling this story, and why doesn't Villain remember killing D's family
Then my brain went to Villain being Detective's parent lol. But I was confused why they didn't remember.
Then. ThE. TWIST!
Oof! I forgot about the dead parents not being tagged too lol.
Lastly, I liked how Detective just abandons their job sort of lololol. And I didn't pick up on the fact that both siblings were lied to! Why?! 😮 Why were their parents killed?! 😭😭😭
- Mod Codex 📚
MY HEART🥺🙌 *chefs kiss*
Codex pretty much took the words out of my mouth, but hot damn. The way you wove this plot together and the reveal about the car crash!!! I was on the edge of my seat and nearly fell out of it when the pieces all clicked into place!
- Mod Spectre👻
Villaintine's Day 2024
Prompt: Evil Scheme 03 @black-rose-events
Detective who has to investigate a string of crimes and ends up discovering more about Villain than they ever thought they would (could be an identity reveal or a bigger plot or a “the Villain is actually the good guy and X is actually the antagonist)
(tw car crash mention)
It did not go according to plan.
Detective twitched a little, their fingers fidgeting. There was an unconscious part of their mind that was annoyed at not being able to clasp their hands in front of them, as they were zip-tied behind their back. It helped them think, and in that moment they needed that. To be honest, they were in a slight state of shock. Being caught hadn’t much to do with it.
A couple of weeks ago, there had been a robbery in their neighborhood. It’d happened in a garage. During the night, the cars in repair had been all gone. Detective liked the people that worked there. They were a regular, and the staff never sighed or rolled their eyes every time they presented a very bumpy car that had its windows broken too many times to count, flat tires at least every month, and once had a very long knife stuck in the hood. This kind of petty thievery really made their gears grind, especially from those of one overpowered over-the-top Villains. Of course it was a villain, you didn’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to know that. Could you actually believe that someone chose to do that with their abilities? Couldn’t they get a job or something? Detective had no special power, expect perhaps an innate gift to find themself in trouble, but it didn’t matter one bit. Villain had hurt someone they knew, they had to be stopped. Simple as that. Of course the hero agency had been contacted, but the Heroes were much too busy with crimes that “actually mattered” (yes, it was what they’d said on the phone.) Being unchecked, Villain hadn’t stopped there. Their people had broken into private properties just to steal cars, and only cars. It was like the beginning of a bad joke. This was getting really worrying, but the Hero agency didn’t care. As long as it didn’t hurt their sponsors, Detective supposed everything was fine and dandy. Well, not in their book.
It could have gone well. It could have gone very well. Success had been on the tip of their fingers, honestly. They’d gone undercover and had succeeded to find Villain’s headquarters, as well as all the codes to the doors. They’d sent all these findings to the Hero’s agency, just in case, and then they’d met Villain themself. Detective had scoffed at first at – well, everything. The costume, the theatrics, the melodrama. And then, they’d laid down their eyes...and they had frozen. They’d been quiet and still while the henchmen had dragged them away. Even now it was hard to snap out of it. They had no idea how long they’d been stuck in here.
Villain opened the door. The prisoner jumped on their feet. The day before, they would have tried a good old-fashioned headbutt, but not now. Not after what they’d seen. They stared as Villain put their fingertips together in reflection.
“Do you know who am I?” Detective asked abruptly.
Villain smirked:
“Are you going to try that on me? You’re in no position to bluff. You’re a nobody living in a bad neighborhood. That you have ties with the hero agency changes nothing. I doubt that they’ll come to your rescue.”
“No, I mean- Do you not remember me at all? Or are you just pretending?”
That made Villain pause. They examined their prisoner, but something about Detective’s attitude made gloating strangely difficult. Intrigued, even slightly amused, they tilted their head:
“Why should I?”
Detective closed their eyes:
“Okay. Hmm- okay. Do you remember a car crash from fifteen years ago?”
“There are a lot of car crashes in the world, Detective.”
“Not like that one. A blue old-fashioned car pushed another car off the road, and it crashed. It wasn’t an accident. There were four victims: the father, the mother, and two kids. One of them was a dumb twelve year-old. It was me. I got away with a few broken bones.”
“All of this is fascinating, but-”
“I don’t have a lot of memories of this day. I just have pictures, flashes. I saw the other car - how fast it was, how deliberately it bumped into us – the scream of my parents - the hand of my sibling emerging out of the rubble-”
“Are you accusing me?”
“-But I remember the next day very clearly. The grown-ups told me everyone else had died.”
“See, you’ve got this the wrong way. I am the one who is supposed to tell you my tragic origin story.”
“I think I am telling yours. You have a birth mark on your left hand that looks like a pentagram. My sibling had the same.”
There was a silence.
“Don’t you remember?" asked Detective with something akin to desperation. "Don’t you remember at all?”
Villain staggered on their feet. Unable to catch them up, Detective knelt next to them when they grabbed the wall, their knees buckling under them.
“The car,” Villain finally whispered. “Did it look – Was it a sedan?”
“I think so.”
“I see it. I see it all the time in my dreams.”
They wiped their forehead with a shaking hand:
“I-I thought you were an imaginary friend. No one told me I had a real sibling.”
“What happened to you?”
Villain avoided their gaze:
“Bad things.”
They lapsed into silence again, until Detective cleared their throat:
“Can you, uh-”
Villain pulled out a knife and cut the zip-ties that bound Detective’s hands. They stayed like this for a few tense seconds, barely glancing at each other, until Villain held out a tentative hand. Detective took a step closer and reeled them into their arms. Villain’s spine went rigid at first, but Detective awkwardly patted their back until they slowly relaxed.
“Am I the older sibling?” asked Villain.
“You wish. You’re two years younger. Why are you stealing cars?”
“Oh, it was going to be a very sophisticated scheme. Everyone thinks so anyway. But I think- I’m really looking for that blue car. I can’t think of something else. I keep getting back to it.”
“Do you want to look together?”
“I-Maybe?”
“Good.” Detective pressed them tighter. “Because I’m not going to let anything happen to you again. And I really, really want to know why everyone lied to us.”

Hello hello! Sorry to bother you, but it's been a few days after February and my writing for Villiantines hasn't been posted here yet. Should I @ you again on the post?
Hey @chaoticgoodthief!
Unfortunately both Codex and I have been foiled! Between work (smh villains gotta pay the bills somehow thanks to those pesky heroes interrupting our visit to the city bank 😒) and catching colds, we've fallen a bit behind on our reblogs.
We're hoping to have everything reblogged by Friday now that I'm on the mend and can focus on words😎

#what happened boys how did we go from nervous villain not believing hero loves them to oops sacrifice#this is what happens when I write I swear-#probably not connected to the last one but like actually maybe??? I could make it work#I'll think about it#anyway good luck to hero lol#buddy boy done got betrayed y'know
Oh the angst, so sad MWAHAHAHAhahah...ha...ha...🥲
I like the way you've used descriptors!
“What?” A question, a sharpness, a plea for the truth, golden on their tongue and mind, to turn ashy with falsehood. “Hero-”
Never seen these used like this, made me realize I like thinking of what these could mean with the context and who these metaphors would have come to be :) it adds to the reading experience imo :)))
The last line! Hehe, oomph! Oops sacrifice poor guys. Poor Hero.
Not an angst reader so ig idk what to write lol 😆
- Mod Codex 📚
"Also, for context, Villain can sense when people are lying :)" YAAAASSSSS! *settles in for angst and maybe just maybe dome fluff*
Your descriptions are god-tier!! Like can we just talk about what this did to my heart:
“The kind that could make a lie taste like the finest wine, like a ray of sunrise overlooking the bay."
LET SOMEBODY LOVE YOU, VILLAIN!
And then the ending🥺💔😈 *chefs kiss* Perfect serving of angst and betrayal and I am here for it!
- Mod Spectre👻
Welcome back to "aeron writes prompts late at night for fun", on today's episode we've got day 7 of @black-rose-events event. Again, little editing, praying this all sounds ok. Also, for context, Villain can sense when people are lying :)
TW/CW for drugging, implied general harm
“I.. I love you.”
The words hovered in the air, coated in a sickening sweetness, a desperation which clashed against Hero’s usual demeanour. Villain faltered, taking a stumbling step as their pacing came to a halt.
“What?” A question, a sharpness, a plea for the truth, golden on their tongue and mind, to turn ashy with falsehood. “Hero-”
“[Villain]. You know it's true. I love you. I have for a long time.” Hero stared at them from where they sat, partially restrained—it had been odd how little effort they'd made to escape—just.. watching, with those damn eyes of theirs. The kind of eyes that could melt your heart even as they ripped it out. The kind that could make a lie taste like the finest wine, like a ray of sunrise overlooking the bay.
“Oh- oh [Hero], no. No you don't. You can't. Don't.. don't tell me those things.”
“Why not?” Hero pulled against their restraints, staggering to their feet. “Why can't I?”
Villain shook their head, clutching the vial in their hands a tad tighter. “You're a liar, [Hero]. Stop- stop lying to me. We can't have that, no matter what you think. There's too much at stake.”
Hero took a step forwards, confident even now. Gods, Villain hated that confidence, that self-assured look, those eyes like a well of dark secrets that would only drag you in and drown you. Villain couldn't drown. Villain couldn't be reckless. Not now.
They glanced at the clock hung on the wall, cursing softly at the time. They didn't have time for this. They didn't have time for lies.
“We.. we could try, [Villain], we could make it work. Just let down your walls. Stop destroying things and build something true for once.” Hero was.. closer than Villain had thought, one hand reaching to grasp their shoulder.
Villain flinched away, grimacing as the vial in their hands swished lightly. “I can't, [Hero]. I don't have time for truths.” The words were bitter, but right all the same. How could Villain love, let alone love someone like Hero? How could they let their guard down for them of all people?
How could they love when every second felt like their life’s decay, every second a reminder of the death that was approaching. They had to go, they had to leave, they had to-
Hero grabbed their wrist, and Villain froze, staring at them.“Please. [Villain]. We.. we can fix things. We can make time. I'll.. I'll help. Okay?” There was almost.. sincerity, almost truth, twisted in their words. It made Villain sick.
Villain sighed, soft, still staring into those eyes, those drowning wells of dark water, a face which had seen more blood than it had any right to. “O.. okay.”
Slowly, carefully, they lifted their free hand, as if to cup Hero’s face in their palm, as if to show some shred of kindness, as if to become the creature reflected in the depths of those wells. Then, face just as reluctant as before, they shoved Hero back, away from the entry to the lab, their free hand smashing the vial against the floor as they sprinted off. The door slammed shut, locked in their wake, silencing panicked shouts as they morphed into frantic coughs, dulled silence.
They'd nearly run out of time. God only knows what Supervillain would have done if they hadn't paid their debts. Hero would have to pay in their absence, it seemed. Villain stalked down the hall, even as guilt churned in their gut, even as the familiar voice of their boss echoed through the corridors, even as they heard Hero’s muffled screams.
It was better to be a liar than admit their love, they supposed.

Twas the night before Villaintine's Day and all through the lair, every henchman was stirring, preparing for the scheme. While Spectre had yet to write her plan, Codex the Charming was well-prepared with a plot to take over writeblr's hero x villain community for one day this year.
With only one day to go, we thought we'd link our schemes and remind all who dare how to participate in our evil affairs.

A story based on @black-rose-events's recent prompt list! This one is day two, because I forgot a) February has in fact kicked off, and b) we are two days in.
Tw/Cw for death, murder, and guns
-----
Reporter stared at the papers they'd found in Detective’s office, illuminated by the soft, yellowed glow of his lamp. It was dark outside, by now, the clock on the wall keeping a steady pulse as Reporter read. This.. this was big. Evidence for every murder they'd been tracking, lists of names struck through in red, pictures of faces that had been painted in the news weeks earlier. The dead. Those responsible. At least, that's how it had seemed.
Until now. There was more blood than just that of the convicted on Detective’s hands, and they couldn't let that go now. Was being here technically illegal? Most likely. Was what Detective had done the same? Absolutely. They had to get this to headquarters. They had to let the authorities know. They had to-
Reporter looked up, eyes wide against a shock of darkness as the door opened.
“[Reporter]. Fancy seeing you here. What brings you to my office? My desks? My documents?” Detective tilted his head, one hand silently shutting the door, locking it with a soft click.
Reporter drew in a breath, clamping down on the panic clawing at their ribs. “I'm here investigating everything you've done, [Detective]. If that even is your name.”
They stood, still clutching the paper they'd been reading, and Detective approached closer, gait still as nonchalant as ever.
Detective smiled. “What I've done? What might that be? Help the people? End countless villains?”
“Innocent lives,” Reporter snapped back. “They were innocents, and you know that damn well. It's all here. And I'm not letting you get away with any of it.”
His smile only widened, a sharp thing, malicious, painted hauntingly by the lamp's glow, as he leaned against the desk.
“Really? All the evidence? How.. fortunate.” Detective glanced down at the papers, before returning his gaze to Reporter. They could barely resist the urge to shudder, to flee, before they too found a knife in their back, a bullet in their chest.
Steeling their gaze, they nodded. “Everything I need to make sure you never hurt anyone again. Is that clear enough for you?”
Detective paused for a moment, a laugh filling the empty space, far too light, far too familiar for it to be that of a murderer. Detective of all people. He reached forwards, grabbing Reporter’s shoulder with a shockingly strong grip, pulling them forwards to the desk.
“Now, [Reporter], my dear friend, I have a story for you. A.. piece of information, if you will.” His voice was low, fringes of that friendliness Reporter had so long known creeping back with the words.
“A.. a story?” they asked, voice shaking. That same, awful smile, a face they almost knew, a grin they could almost see against the daylight, against everything they'd known.
Then his Voice hushed, his grasp loosening against their jacket.
“You're right.”
Metal pressed against their stomach, cold turning harsh, burning, as pain ripped through their senses and skin alike. Reporter screamed, the sound cut off as that same blinding agony cut through the air, their intestines, sending them stumbling back to the wall behind. They crumpled, crimson staining the bookshelves at their back, their clothes nearly masking the shade.
Detective stared at them, face still twisted with some strange, wretched joy. “It was lovely working with you, [Reporter]. You were always my favourite. I pray the others can solve your unfortunate demise.”
Then, hands steady, he raised the gun to Reporter’s gaze. And, smiling, he pulled the trigger.

*waiting patiently for if you decide to write a prequel (seriously no pressure though!💜)* - Mod Spectre👻
I had to go back to check out OP's tags 🥔
Poor Reporter 😥 May they rest in potatoes 🥔😔
This whole piece was so TENSE!!!!! Detective was so scary! When he came in I was fine, but when he looked the door!!!! I was scared for Reporter (and I was right!)
For some reason my brain thought of this as the start to a dark gritty show, or any show really, and this whole fic is followed by the theme song then the start of the actual episode.
My brain also thought of this a Columbo episode even though I've only watched like 2 or 3 lol. Columbo comes on and just annoys Detective to no end into revealing everything and getting captured :))) - Mod Codex 📚

“Oh, you poor, poor thing.” *laughs hysterically.*
“…What?”
“Oh you lovesick kitten, you fell in love with the wrong person.”
*Laughs hysterically.* “Hilarious, impeccable timing.”
“I hadn’t pegged you for the type to fall in love. I was thinking of angles, researching, trying to figure your actions out. But we both lost. You fell in love and I didn’t even think of that being your reason.”
“I don’t understand.” // “Of course you don’t. Your brain’s all drowned in red roses right now.”
“Yes, yes, we get the joke.” // “No, I’m not joking.” // “Well then, you’re an idiot. Or mistaken. Or under a spell.” // “No, I’m not!” // “Yes, you are.” // “If I was, then I wouldn’t still be here arguing after you laughed in my face and just called me an idiot.” // “Exactly, if you weren’t, then I wouldn’t have called you an idiot. You’re not in love with me, you just think you are.” // “Excuse me?” // “You heard me, you’re mistaken, darling.”
“Hehe, thanks. Soo, anyway—” // “Wait, what’s your reply?” // “Huh?” // “I said I love you” // “Oh, yeah, I said thank you. Thanks. Have a good day.” *Turns to leave*
“Aww, sweetheart, no.”
“Aww, sweetheart…no.”
“Aww, sweetheart. No.”
“Cool. Be cooler if someone loved you too.”
“If only there was someone out there who loved you.”
“Aww, I love me too.” *Goes about their day.*
“No, you don’t.” // “What, of course I do.”
“Um. No. You don’t. You’re in love with the idea of me. Pretty normal, don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll find someone. Good luck.”
[Bonus] “No, but I really do.”
[Bonus] *Tears in their eyes* “But…”
Evil Scheme 08
Responses to “I’d die for you”:
“Then perish.”
“Then perish.” They said it with steely blank eyes. No emotion on their face.
“Then die."
"Then die.” And they punched them in the face and walked over their body.
“Then go ahead,” they said, waving their hand dismissively, “You have my permission.”
"…Cool.“ They gave a big smile and walked away.
"You will.” and pushed them off.
