Always glad to see you back in the fold, even if its just private

The ppeople who always complain about Steve leaving Bucky only see Bucky as Steve's one and only Bestie. In their eyes, Steve isn't allowed to care about anyone else but Bucky.
I agree with your post from start to finish. I will never get over the fact that Steve didn't tell Sam. We saw how Sam and Steve became fast friends and created a connection but in the end all Steve did was give Sam the Shield and he didn't even think about how giving him the Shield will affect him in any way. And to all the people who say," how do you know Steve didn't tell Sam what he was planning ?". Sam's reaction in Endgame spoke volumes. He was concerned about his bestie and thought something horrible happened to him. Sam was not calm like Bucky was because Bucky knew what Steve was planning.
And Bucky confirmed in TFATWS that Steve told him what he was planning. it seems as though Sam missed that memo. I loved the show but i wished we had gotten to see how Sam really felt about Steve being gone and that he didn't even tell him. Someone who had Steve's back from day one.
I could go on but i think i ranted long enough. Thank You for your beautiful blog and that wonderful post :)
honestly you donāt have to thank me for that. i think itās bugging me more and more lately because we have cishets constantly going out of their way to invalidate sam.
saying steve only left bucky is basically erasing sam from steveās life. in the comics, steve is wholly dependent on sam. like -- itās nuts how stupidly close they are. and i always thought the films kinda displayed the same until endgame.
like iāve never once looked at steve as a character and thought, bucky is the only thing that matters to him, because itās not true.
and the so-called steve fans who genuinely believe that (and trust me, a lot of people).Ā
iām on this discord right, and this girl goes,Ā āi canāt believe steve left sam the shield and bucky and sam treated bucky like crap, thatās why i couldnāt get through tfatwsā
and of course, me being me, i didnāt take that very well. mostly because a) you can detect the racism from a mile away and b) when ppl say shit like that, itās up to us in the fandom to correct them. because -- if you donāt, microaggressions will keep happening.
the fact that people call themselves bucky fans and still consider him a piece of property for steve to hand down? gross af.Ā
and because i called that out, iām mean and nasty and aggressive. :(

Sometimes I really get pissed off when I see posts about people complaining about Steveās ending in Endgame. And every complaint Iāve ever seen thus far goes like this:
āOmg, how dare he leave Bucky all alone by himself??ā
āI CANNOT BELIEVE HE LEFT BUCKY!ā
āSTEVE LEFT HIS BUCKY?? STEVE WOULD NEVERā
Cool. Steve left his best friend behind to go live his life and yall wanna commit murder. I get it, thatās fine. Itās okay to feel passionate about your ships. However, I never see any of yall complain about Steveās treatment of Sam?
Thereās a couple of points I wanna make, so lemme list them one by one.
- Bucky is his own person. His life doesnāt revolve around Steve. Heās a man of his own agency. Even if you ship him with Steve, Bucky is allowed to feel heartbreak and heal from that without his entire character being dependent on Steve.
- Steve is his own person. While shippers tend to believe that Steveās entire focus was Bucky and Bucky alone, they are quick to erase other valid people heās extremely close to and loves deeply. The mains being Nat, Sam, and Wanda. Steve has many people in his life that he would do anything for. Itās not just Bucky. Bucky was the catalyst in the movies, sure, but if Buckyās predicament was replaced with Nat or Sam, you best believe Steve Rogers would make the exact same decisions for them. Steveās entire life isnāt dependent on Bucky. And vice versa.Ā
So when Steve makes the decision to go back in Endgame, itās not about Bucky. Itās about Steve making a choice for himself, and he did the responsible thing and he talked to Bucky and told him what he was going to do. Steve was not wrong for leaving in Endgame. Steve was wrong for not telling Sam.
When Sam first met Steve, he was (is still) a recovering vet. Sam and Steve became fast friends and it took Sam no time at all to decide that heās willing to risk his life over and over again for Steve Rogers.
Thatās not even the beginning of Samās devotion or loyalty. Sam then spends the next two years of his timeline not going back to his own life. Heās searching the world for Bucky (as stated in AOU). He doesnāt need to do this, but he does it for Steve because heās a good friend, but more than that, heās a good man.
Then, he refuses to sign the accords and sacrifices himself and gets tossed in an underwater prison. I donāt even want to get into what they did to Sam down there. If the raft is anything like the raft in the comics, he was probably tortured and waterboarded for shits and giggles.
And even after being imprisoned, Sam smiles, and decides to quietly and discreetly save the world with Steve and Nat.Ā
Samās loyalty, Samās endurance, Samās love -- all of that was tossed in the garbage without a second thought by Steve Rogers.
I donāt care if people sayĀ āwell, he gave sam the shieldā LMAO What the fuck does that matter? The Shield means shit all to Sam. I canāt imagine the actual pain Sam mustāve gone through once he realized that the white man he literally spent almost a decade helping and saving gave no real shits about him.
Only Bucky was worth the goodbye and honesty. Sam wasnāt.Ā
So when yaāll complain about Steve leaving little Binky behind -- I canāt help but laugh at yall. Thatās what youāre mad about?
If I was Sam -- I too wouldāve gotten rid of that dirty ass shield as fast as I can.Ā
