This was super fun to draw. Although I had a bit of a debate whether Floyd would be in his military uniform or if he’d wear smth more casual. In the end I just figured he’d wear both LOL

My take on the few moments of Floyd and Janice that we saw on The Muppets Mayhem

Just my thoughts cuz I have it floating around in my head. Spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched the series

- He’s quite protective of her. But not overly so. (When he cried “Oh, Baby, you came back to me!” I sort of squealed)

- Both seem pretty chill about any previous relationships they have had. (Ziggy Marley, whoever Betty is etc)

- Janice’s storyline involves starting to prioritise and love herself first. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t love and care for Floyd. But sometimes, it lowkey feels like he doesn’t fully grasp that yet. Especially in Ep 7 when he gets irritated that she wasn’t thinking of him when they wrote that song (side note: you can ABSOLUTELY write a love song about yourself).

- Floyd regards Janice as his true love (Notice how he says that he’s writing his own love song about his other true love. Which happens to be soup).

- This is all in words and not shown but, that little conversation where Janice talked about how she swooped in and stole Floyd’s heart from Betty is quite telling of their relationship (and likely how it started but hey I could be wrong).

- It probably didn’t feel that great for Floyd when Betty couldn’t decide between him and the other guy (it would suck to feel like you’re second choice for someone). So it’s understandable that he couldn’t stick around and wait for her to make up her mind.

- Janice on the other hand, sounded like she knew what she wanted when she chose Floyd. Like she was sure wanted to be with him. And in the end, Floyd chose the person who also chose him fer sure.

- At the end of the day, even after that whole spiteful song thing (which honestly made me feel mildly uncomfortable), I think they still do love each other very much.

I do wish they had more moments on the show but all in all, Muppets Mayhem was GREAT. I have my fingers crossed for more podcasts/vodcasts talking about the series and maybe even a Season 2 :D

I wonder if Nigel has anybody to keep him consistent company while in hiding, since I figure Sector V have to keep track of their regular lives. Mayhaps a certain tiger-sweatshirt wearing former soopreme leader. *wink wink, nudge nudge*

...Joking aside, even if that ship ain't your cup o tea, I am curious to know where she and any other recurring operatives are and what they're up to.

LOL I get your drift! I definitely ship them! In my mind, she’s not with him wherever he is…yet.

My headcanon:

- After Rachel stepped down as Soopreme Leader, she was inducted into the TND and was considered a fugitive during the Galactic KND battle. Nigel went into hiding afterwards, but he sent her a special transmission to tell her goodbye for now.

- While not decommissioned, she’s also currently not part of the KND. It’s pretty clear that Nigel’s departure hit hard for her. She’s probably the one who misses him the most (as much as she doesn’t like to admit it). She also still keeps a small chip on her that plays the special goodbye transmission.

- Currently a secretary. Was actually trying to find Nigel for a while before it just became too painful. “Everything I did after that battle…I did to find him. But he’s gone.”

- When she later meets Numbuh 20 by coincidence (Nigel’s 1st cousin once removed), she eventually opens up to him, becoming a rare adult ally to his secret mission of finding Nigel. It took a lot of convincing, but it reignited her faith that one day they’ll find him.

- She’s also quite famous in the KND (that’s how Numbuh 20 recognised her)

- Since Nigel eventually does come back in the show’s canon, I picture that they’d start a relationship then. You’re never too old for romance after all

As for the rest…I haven’t really figured that out yet HAHAHA. But here’s what I’ve written so far:

- Numbuh 10 is decommissioned. She married a man from Wales and eventually had her son Gwilym (Numbuh 20) Currently a news anchor.

- Numbuh 83 and 84 (Sonia Robinson and Lee Eric Rivera Manalo) are married and have a daughter, Maria (Numbuh 143, Medic of Sector V).

Kids Next Door Sector V: The Next Gen

Numbuh 7, Homer: Writing Operative and 2x4 Technology Officer

Numbuh 20, Gwilym: Leader

Numbuh 143, Maria: Medic and Tactical Yo-yo Specialist

Numbuh 6: Roku: Hand-to-Hand Combat Specialist and Spy

Gwilym Dauddeg (Numbuh 20)

Leader of Sector V. He’s headstrong and confident, often coming up with many hare-brained schemes against adult tyranny. While he may not always play by the rules and his plans may not always succeed, his resilience and care inspires his team and they’re always there to reel him in.

- 10 years old

- His mother is a now-decommissioned Numbuh 10. This makes him Numbuh 1’s first cousin once removed. He found out about his lineage after an analysis of the KND archives and is now secretly trying to find Nigel.

- His name means ‘Resolute Protector’ in Welsh. It’s ironic due to his impulsive leadership style and dangerous schemes

- His surname is Welsh for 20, referencing his code number

- Knows he has a lot to live up to. Many operatives compare him to the legend of Numbuh 1, saying he has Nigel’s drive, but lacks his smoothness.

Maria Ophelia Robinson Manalo, or just Maria (Numbuh 143)

Medic and Tactical Yo-yo specialist of Sector V. A nervous worrier, she’s the one who fusses over the little easily-missed details of her leader’s plans. While she’s very vocal about the dangers she perceives, she never lets that hold her back and has proven time and time again to be a kind and brave operative.

- Age: 9

- Her parents are Sonia (Numbuh 83) and Lee (Numbuh 84). She has her mother’s timid disposition and her father’s yo-yo skills

- Her 2nd name, Ophelia, means help/aid, referencing her role as medic

- Her number is a reference to the emergency hotline for the Philippine Red Cross

- She has anxiety and often treats her yo-yo as a comfort object, fiddling with it when she’s highly nervous or stressed

Sector V: Undercover Adult Agents of the KND

While WHAT they do in the organisation is kept under wraps, one thing’s for sure: they’re still kids at heart.

Numbuh 5 (Abigail Gilligan): Part-Time Teacher at McClintok High School

Numbuh 4 (Dr Wallabee Beetles M.D.): Doctor at the local hospital

Numbuh 3 (Kuki Sanban-Beetles): CEO of the Rainbow Monkey Corporation

Numbuh 2 (Hogarth P. Gilligan Jr): Short-haul-flight pilot at the airport

Numbuh 1 (Nigel Uno): Unknown

After the whole fiasco with the GKND, Nigel has finally returned to Earth…sort of. While he longs to join the KND again as an adult operative and be with his Sector, the organisation has him in hiding due to the lingering tensions between them and the Galactic branch. No one really knows where he is, what name he goes by now, or what he’s doing, but the KND are working hard to bring him back.

- 38 years old

- Finds ways to contact the now adult members of Sector V to let them know he misses them and that he’s ok.

- His name has become legend in the organisation. None of the current kids are entirely sure he exists, but the undercover adult operatives hope for the day they can be reunited with their old friend

The Gilligan Family

The future family of Numbuh 5 and Numbuh 2 (Going Clockwise: Abigail, Hoagie, Hogarth III, Homer and Jodie)

Hogarth Pennywhistle Gilligan III

Hoagie and Abby’s eldest son. A teenager whose presence is mostly seen through the shambles of mess and food he leaves around the house. When he is around, he can usually be heard complaining.

- 14 years old

- He’s always either at the mall or at school, so he’s not often home. Even when he is around, his face is always hidden

- Named for his grandfather. To carry on his spirit

- Was given his mother’s hat when he was younger. He doesn’t wear it anymore but keeps it hanging on his room door.

- Despite being a teenager, he’s still quite civil to his brother and is pretty harmless. Sector V still keeps him (or at least his room) under surveillance though.

Homer Thomas Gilligan (Numbuh 7)

The Writing Operative and 2x4 technology officer of the current Sector V. Loyal, hardworking and a little awkward, Homer often acts as a support to the team in many ways. Whether in battle, missions or off duty, he’s a capable presence who always comes through for them.

- 10 years old

- His middle name, Thomas, is a nod to his uncle.

- His code number is a reference to Cree Summer’s (voice of Numbuh 5) comment that if she was in the KND, she’d pick 7 as her number.

- He is said to be a great storyteller and does the daily logs for Sector V, hence his role as Writing Operative. He often puts his own twist on it of course, dabbling in a few writing genres

- He wishes to invent more original 2x4 technology items instead of following existing blueprints, but his inventions always end up exploding. The only successful thing he made is Roku’s signature weapon.

Jodie Gilligan

Hoagie and Abby’s daughter. Hogarth III and Homer’s little sister. A very cheery and giggly baby.

- 11 months old

- Her name is Hebrew in origin, an allusion to the Gilligans’ Jewish heritage

- She is very attracted to candy, despite not being old enough to eat it yet (her teeth haven’t come in). Can get EXTREMELY aggravated if she finds candy and someone takes it from her

- Shows quite good mobility for a baby, being able to quickly sneak up on people and climb on high-ish surfaces

- Is probably the only one that happily laughs at her father’s jokes

Abigail Gilligan née Lincoln

Part-time Teacher at McClintock High School and Full-Time mom, Abi still manages to find a way to maintain her laid-back cool attitude through it all. When she’s not grading papers, or getting gum out of her kids’ hair, she often spends her time reading or painting.

- 38 years old

- Secretly still a KND member with the rest of Sector V.

- Was in Wally’s band as the keyboardist in their high school days

- Often goes to ice cream parlours, soda fountains and candy stores with Hoagie on dates to sample the flavours.

- Splits the house duties with Hoagie. As she tells the kids: “Your dad cooks, I do the taxes and whoever loses at thumb wrestling has to clean.”

Hoagie P. Gilligan Jr

A pilot at the airport, he opted to work on short-haul flights so he wouldn’t be away from his family so much. Fun-loving and jovial, he dotes on his wife and tries to be a cool dad to his kids (despite the bad jokes he keeps telling)

- 37 years old

- Secretly still a KND member with the rest of Sector V.

- Is close with his son Homer. They usually spend time building stuff in the garage together. Both are still trying to figure out why Homer’s inventions always end up exploding

- His penchant for telling his bad jokes has only gotten worse over the years, but he says that he now has a right as a dad to say them.

- Only started dating Abby in their early 20s and got married a few years later

My headcanon: Animatic takes place in the future, when Sector V is all grown up and have their own kids. Wally (Numbuh 4) and Kuki (Numbuh 3) have a mischievous and sarcastic daughter named Roku, and an outgoing and goofy son named Plat. This is the first in a family dynamic series for them.

The Beetles Family

The future family of Numbuh 4 and Numbuh 3. (Going clockwise: Kuki, Wallabee, Roku, Plat)

Members:

Roku Beetles 緑 (Numbuh 6)

The tomboyish and independent combat specialist/spy of the current Sector V. Sarcastic and rough around the edges with a strategic mind, she’s often the problem solver of the team, though not necessarily the voice of reason due to a slightly mischievous streak (is secretly the Prank Master of her school)

- 9 years old.

- Preferred weapon of choice: A Boomerang-shuriken combo called the B.O.O.M.E.R.K.E.N (Blaster Of Objects Moves Ever Rotatingly Knocking Enemies Nicely). Carries a few at a time and can release multiple if need be.

- She has a soft spot for her childhood friend and teammate Homer Gilligan (she’d never admit it though)

- Chose the number 6 upon her Cadets Next Door graduation in honor of a retired R.O.B.O.B.R.A.D.L.E.Y

- While her name sounds like the Japanese word for her number (六), the actual kanji character in her name is Japanese for ‘green’ (緑) referencing her mother (ironic because she prefers orange, reminiscent of her father)

Plat Beetles

The energetic, outspoken and goofy younger brother of Roku. He’s always joking around and is pretty comfortable in his own skin. Wants to join the KND but hasn’t finished his cadet training yet. So he sometimes tags along with his sister on missions

- 7 years old

- Plays dodgeball with his Uncle Joey on weekends

- Has a soft spot for his First Rainbow Monkey

- Has a lucky bokken (a Japanese wooden sword) from his maternal grandparents which he sometimes uses as a weapon if he follows his sister to combat.

- The name “Plat” means flat land, which is a reference to Australia’s geography (noted to be the flattest continent). His name is also meant as a shortened ver of Platypus, an animal native to Australia. Thus following the Australian animal theme of his father and uncle.

Dr Wallabee Beetles M.D.

Now a family man and a doctor at the local hospital. While he’s mellowed out over the years and is arguably smarter now, he can still be pretty impulsive and hot-headed. Especially if it involves stuff that annoys him. Loves his family dearly and takes a very hands-on-dad approach

- 37 years old

- Secretly still a member of the KND along with the rest of the past Sector V. But it’s kept so secret that even his kids have no idea.

- Happily married to Kuki for 12 years. Together since they were 17.

- Plays electric guitar. Used to be in a rock band in his teens

- Takes as many days off from work as he can. Either to relax, go on a date with Kuki or just spend time with his family

Kuki Sanban-Beetles

The CEO of the Rainbow Monkey Corporation and matriarch of the family. She still maintains her optimism and cheeriness but is also more calculating and business-minded due to her position in the company. Very affectionate towards her children and husband, although her oni side has come out when pushed too far.

- 37 years old

- Secretly still a KND member with the rest of Sector V.

- Slight workaholic. Brings home work more often than not, which includes Rainbow Monkey prototypes.

- Has been together with Wally for 20 years

- Has now gotten hooked on soap operas and KDramas, which Wally hates more than anything (especially if she makes him watch)

Woah hahaha that was really fun to write and draw! Probably gonna do a few animatics of the family too if I feel like it. Will also do the rest of Sector V’s family someday maybe!
