Dealing In Truths: Part I
In Hell, there are many deals to be made.
Some are for favors and others for souls.
There, too, exists the dealing of truths.
Now, consider one such deal made...
A deal entirely binding...it transcends any and all previous contracts.
The night is late. The hotel is quiet. The only residents left awake and mingling are Lucifer and Alastor. Alastor nurses his small glass of rye whiskey whilst Lucifer joins him at the bar. Taking a seat beside the sinner, the angel summons himself a seltzer-in-a-can. Silence turns to small comments; benign remarks. As alcohol dwindles, talking progresses - tensions ease - and the suggestion is made toward a rather unique but simple deal...
"Ok. A deal's a deal." Lucifer sets his seltzer aside; offensively broaching the first question. "Who's got your sad, sorry ass on the end of their chain?"
Alastor raises an eyebrow at this. It's not so surprising to him that the angel has clued into his having made a soul-binding agreement but that that...of all the questions he could have asked...was what he had chose.
Unable to avoid an honest answer, Alastor pauses. "....your wife."
Lucifer stares at him for a moment before he erupts into a fit of cackles. Alastor watches him, eyes narrowed.
"Oooooohhhhhhh!" Lucifer exclaims merrily.
"YOU ARE SO FUCKED!" His continual laughing echoing across the lobby of the hotel.

somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.
and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.
