A report just came out from a Palestinian hostage saying he was strapped with bombs and sent into a Hamas tunnel, with Israel prepared to blow the tunnel up with his body if fighters were found inside and yet people are still making the “Hamas uses human shields” arguments that have been confirmed to be a myth with no supporting evidence

i’m so obsessed with this i cannot stress this enough i would read FOUR bibles of these thank you
seonghwa x reader ? (non-romantic)
word count: 700+
You stood in the kitchen putting away some groceries after a trip to the supermarket when your roommate walked into the shared space.
It was silent for a few moments.
“Darling, how do I use the air fryer?” his rich voice called out.
You peaked over at the vampire, who stood in all his usual gothic glory, a wash of black velvet clothing over his tall, slim frame. The only contrast of color were the duck shaped slippers on his feet, which had been a gift from you.
A vampire who had been undead since 1633 was not exactly your first pick as a roommate, but he was easy enough to get along with. He kept the place clean and paid his rent on time, which was more than you could say for most.
He was just a bit quirky, one could say.
Seonghwa seemed perplexed, examining the kitchen appliance before him. Though he on most occasions preferred not to meddle in modern human inventions, he was acutely interested in the air fryer you had bought some months ago.
“I would like to make taquitos,” he then added. You opted not to correct his butchered pronunciation of the word taquito.
“Press the on button first,” you told him.
“Yes, of course, the ‘on button’...” he trailed off, but he did not move so much as an inch.
Seeing his hesitation, you reached over to press the button for him, which caused the appliance to beep a high-pitched tune as it powered up.
“I knew that,” he hastily informed you, careful not to let his pride slip for a mere moment.
“Okay.”
“I just don’t understand why you humans feel the need to use all these convoluted symbols. Do words now not suffice? Is your hubris so great that you feel you have evolved beyond the point of language?”
Every so often Seonghwa would fly into these woeful rants about how complex the modern world was, making sure to emphasize how much better things were before electricity and motion pictures and—god forbid—cellphones.
“And what’s more, why am I expected to know the numerical value of a cooking flame?” He exclaimed, fitfully twisting the knob that adjusted the cooking temperature.
“The temperature you need written on the box,” you stated, flipping over the box of frozen, premade taquitos to reveal the cooking instructions. You pointed at them. “You would know this if you just opened your eyes.”
“There are more words here than the Holy Bible. The merchants really expect one to read all of this?” he questioned, his brow furrowed as he sifted through the wall of text.
“A little reading would do you some good.”
“It seems you think me a scholar!” Seonghwa scoffed, disregarding the box. “Tell me, what is the numerical value I seek?”
“The instructions are right there,” you told him. “You’re 415 years old, Seonghwa. I think you’re more than grown up enough to figure out how to feed yourself. I’d like to finish putting my groceries away, if you don’t mind.”
However, old habits die hard. Seonghwa always struggled to break free from the ways of life that he had grown up with. He still carried a pocket watch, smoked tobacco from a pipe, and spoke with vocabulary that made him difficult to understand at times.
He sighed. “I quite miss when my companions would simply die of consumption.”
“Excuse me?”
“I believe you call it tuberculosis,” he reiterated. “I mean to say that I tire of you.”
In response, you grumbled, “400 degrees for 15 to 17 minutes.”
“Thank you.”
You left him to his own devices, turning back to your own task. You organized your various items, starting by putting the cold items in the fridge before moving on to the pantry.
By the time you turned back around, you found Seonghwa trying to pull the basket out of the air fryer. It didn’t budge due to the fact that he neglected to press down the little release button on the top of the handle.
“You have to-”
You didn’t even get the chance to finish your sentence before one final rough tug was enough for the handle to come completely detached in his hand.
He looked at you. You looked at him.
“I will buy you a new one on the morrow.”
