I just saw a freaking take like "transandrophobia is erasure, transmisogyny is murder. Just admit transmisogyny is worse."
Crazy thought here but what if the whole erasure thing makes murders less likely to be seen as such?
People's understanding of erasure is, ironically, so clouded by erasure as a social force that it just reinforces itself.
Anyways. I have the Archive of Violence Against Transmasculine People for explicitly this purpose.

Hey Rowan 💕
How about 15, 17 and 27 ?
Hi Nonnie!
15. favorite weather for writing
I do most of my writing at night, but if I had to pick a perfect writing day it would be rainy, and cool enough for a cozy jumper and blanket but not too cold, because I need to be able to type without my fingers getting stiff.
17. talk about your writing and editing process
This question implies I have a process 😂 I’d love to be someone who plans/outlines their fics, but when I’ve tried that I didn’t stick to it at all. I spend a lot of time daydreaming my fic and then trying to get that translated onto the page. I’m terrible at editing - I was the kid who would hand in an assignment unedited 🤦‍♀️ But I’m trying to get better at going over my own work. And I am very grateful to the amazing people that beta for me!
27. your favorite part of the writing process
I think it’s those moments where things just flow, and you can see the story come to life in front of you without too much conscious thought even. As frustrated as my characters make me feel sometimes, I love it when they come out of nowhere and surprise me.

If you are watching a TV show, it can be live action or animated.
But not when you're reading a book. Much to think about.

8 and 28 for the writers questions!
Good morning!
8. if you had to write a sequel to a fic, you’d write one for…
I have (vague) plans to write a sequel to The Promise of Things To Come. It was originally going to be longer and I had to cut it short due to time constraints. So watch this space for the smutty fluffy get together sequel.
28. your least favorite part of the writing process
Is it bad to say “the writing” 😂 I find I often have very clear ideas in my head of what will happen in a fic, but really struggle to translate that to actual words on a page. If I get stuck on a section I struggle to move past it. But I’m currently trying the “write the bits that are clear/exciting to you and come back to this bit later” method with a wip and it seems to be working!

Midnight magic
The grass is wet and it squelches under his feet and is possibly not even grass, just, mud, just, moor, and the moonlight dancing on his skin makes him tremble like an actual touch. It’s all so—out there. Damp and glittery. Nighttime and shivery-cold and oddly, oddly gentle. A hand in his, clammy; laughter crinkling the corner of an eye.
‘Just a little further,’ murmured, ‘come on, come on.’ Fingers warm and so solid around his wrist, pulling with excitement that’s as fresh as dew and as rumbling as laughter: pulling and they’re here. Out, of the city, of their minds. Out and the world is as true and as big as he’s always suspected it was.
‘Darling,’ a whisper, a kiss delivered right below his jawline, ‘I’m so glad. I’m so glad to be—’
‘Yes,’ Harry breathes, ‘yes, yes,’ and in his heart it hums too, it sings. The night and the trees and the water, it all glistens. It all listens, and soon enough it replies, in buzzing of tiny wings and rustling of leaves. In distant hooting and the wind blowing soothing waves onto the pebbly shore.
It’s—mad. Harry takes Draco’s face in his hands, kisses and kisses him until he can breathe. Until it makes sense (they’re mad, it’s all brilliant). Until he remembers, it’s the beginning of September and the middle of the night and his heart is three times its usual size under his jumper.
‘Shall we go in?’
He could be serious. Harry grins to the darkness, takes him in closer.
‘You’re mad. The water will be freezing.’
‘Yes. Shall we go in?’ with that little smile. It stretches, then dims. His fine eyebrow arches: ‘We don’t have to. We can just—’
Harry kisses him, helpless, delightfully distracted with the delicate shell of an ear. ‘Yes,’ meaning, anything he wants, meaning Harry is here and is his, all his.
Draco’s eyes on him sizzle. ‘We can just sit and watch the stars for a while. There’s a bit up ahead where I—’
‘Yes,’ he says instead of take me, instead of please, ‘yes, sweetheart, yes.’ A kiss and then another.
They slip a little on the rocks. Harry’s shoes are drenched. It’s cold and he’s so happy he could cry, with Draco’s hand in his and this rush, the magnitude of it. The moon comes back out from behind its blanket of cloud, and Draco is—the words get stuck under Harry’s breastbone. He’s so himself that it aches, it’s brilliant.
Must be visible on Harry’s face. ‘I told you,’ Draco beams. ‘I told you it’s magic.’
Harry’s eyes fill with something terrible and warm. ‘You did,’ he manages through a suddenly-dry throat. ‘You—sweetheart.’
‘Come on,’ with urgency that wasn’t there before. Harry will follow, anywhere; his heart feels crushed open and oddly light. The whole night is, alight. Under the cloudy sky and far too cold on the lakeshore, Harry is here and entirely, completely Draco’s.

About the AO3 "No Guest Comments for a while" warning
If you're not following any of AO3's social media accounts you might be in the dark as to what kind of "spam comments" have engendered this banner at the top of the site:
Tumblr media
These spam comments have been posted about a great deal on the AO3 subreddit for the past couple of days. Initially they comprised a bunch of guest (logged out users) bot comments that insulted authors by suggesting they were using AI and not writing their own fics. Some examples, from the subreddit:
Tumblr media
But it then escalated to outright graphic porn images and gifs being posted in comments, again by logged out 'Guest' accounts. Obviously, I'm not going to give examples of those, but between these two bot infestations, AO3 has clearly decided to act and has temporarily closed the ability to post comments for users who are not logged in with an AO3 account.
Unfortunately, this means that genuine readers who don't have an AO3 account won't be able to leave comments on fics that they enjoy.
If you are a genuine reader who doesn't yet have an AO3 account, I strongly suggest getting yourself on the waiting list for one. More and more AO3 authors are now locking their fics down to registered users only - either due to these bot comments or concerns about AI scraping their work - which means you're probably missing out on a lot of great stuff.
Hopefully guest commenting will be enabled again at some point soon, but I suggest not waiting until then. Get yourself on that list.
Wait times are going to be longer than usual at the moment, due to the current Wattpad purge [info on Fanlore | Wattpad subreddit thread], but if you're in line, then your invite will come through eventually.
Update: There's now a Megathread about this on the AO3 subreddit.

@wolfstarmicrofic March 19 – prompt 19: Unbreakable Vow – word count 689
Unbreakable Vow - A magically binding contract that results in the death of whoever breaks it
Sirius knew he could scream all he wanted but his father’s studio was shielded and no one would hear him. Not that the over one hundred guests at the Sacred Twenty-eight Gala would actually care. No, they would probably just admire Walburga Black’s sense of discipline over her household.
He screamed again, every part of his body as if it was on fire, as his mother kept her wand pointed at him, her face twisted with rage.
“You thought I wouldn’t notice?” she hissed.
She lifted her wand and the pain decreased enough for Sirius to notice his trousers were sticking to his calves. He wondered vaguely if all the blood from the Slicing curse would finally ruin his best robes.
“You really thought you could get away with it?” Walburga went on. “As much as it pains me, I am your mother, I know you!”
There were spots dancing before Sirius’s eyes and a small part of his mind was sobbing that for once he had behaved. There had been no pranks, no impertinent answers, nothing. He had kept to himself throughout the reception and the dinner, focusing on the only thought that could get him through it. Moony. Moony and his calm, Moony and his smile, Moony and his embrace. Moony’s arms, Moony’s hands, Moony’s lips.
“Crucio!” his mother shouted.
Sirius screamed again, writhing on the expensive carpet, the office whirling around him.
“You thought I wouldn’t check why you were behaving so well?” Walburga lifted her wand again. “You really thought you could hide those disgusting memories from me?”
Sirius’s heart dropped. With all her duties as hostess of one of the most important events of the year, he hadn’t thought his mother would take the time to use Legilimency on him, especially if he was behaving well. He really couldn’t win with her.
“No son of mine will ever consort with a half-breed!” Walburga went on. “No son of mine will ever have unnatural relations!”
“Then,” Sirius managed to whisper. “I’m not your son.”
Walburga’s features twisted in an evil grin.
“But you are, Sirius,” she lowered her voice. “You always will be. And if you don’t want to, I will make you. Next summer, you will take the Dark Mark and follow the path you’re destined to.”
“Never.”
“You will. You will take the Unbreakable Vow tonight and do as you’re told.”
Sirius swallowed. The most powerful magical pledge you could take, which bound you to your word and killed you if you broke it.
“I’d rather die,” he spat.
“I know you would,” Walburga said slowly. “But you’ll take it with Regulus who will swear to help you keep your word. And you wouldn’t want something bad to happen to your brother, would you?”
She whirled around in a flurry of evening skirts and walked out of the office, leaving Sirius frozen in horror on the carpet. She was right, he wouldn’t make Regulus risk his life. He wasn’t fine with the idea of dying, but better him than Regulus. Always.
He managed to get up, leaning heavily on the fireplace, roaring despite the warm weather, and looked desperately around, locating his wand, which had been confiscated as soon as he had crossed the threshold coming back from Hogwarts, on Orion’s desk. Grunting with each step, he managed to walk there and grab it along with the ornate box his parents kept the Floo powder supply in. There was no time to think it through or hesitate, no time to wonder if there was another way. He needed to run. For himself. For Regulus.
He threw a handful of Floo powder in the fireplace and as soon as the flames turned green he said the first address that came to him before stepping in. James’s.
“I’m sorry, Reggie,” he sobbed, gripping his wand as the flames engulfed him and the fireplace in Grimmauld Place disappeared, the signet ring emblem of the heir of the Black family left glittering malevolently on the carpet.
He had always thought he would run away one day. He had never thought he would need to leave Regulus behind.

🙋‍♀️ and 💖!
Hi hi friend! Thank you for these!
🙋‍♀️ Do any irl people know you write fanfic?
More people than I would like! My immediate family knows, but have never read any of my writing, and I will keep it that way! In the past it’s come out to a couple of coworkers but that lead to (usually good natured) teasing so I don’t talk about it at work anymore 😂 I have had two irl friends at various times who also wrote hp fanfic and we would bounce ideas and beta for each other so that was fun.
💖 What made you start writing?
Oh boy, I don’t even know! I have a very vague memory of writing a story based on a picture book I’d read - based on the house I was in in the memory I was 7 or younger!
When I was 16 I read all the HP books and somehow had some vague knowledge of fanfic being a thing so I looked it up and read some and I’m not sure how or why but suddenly I was scribbling short fics in a notebook.
I love being creative but really struggle with coming up with original ideas, which is why things like crochet or cross stitch or playing music on the piano are great, because someone else has given me the “instructions” that I can then be creative with. And for me fan fic is the same. I don’t think I’ll ever write original fiction, but I can take existing characters and run with them until the cows come home.
Send me fanfic writer asks!
