2 Kings 20
“Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, saying, “Now, O LORD, please remember how I have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.”                                                                                                 2 Kings 20:2-3
Hezekiah, having fallen ill, has just heard from God through the prophet Isaiah that he is to set his house in order for he will die. Could he have felt more hopeless? However, through this devastating news, his response is to call out to his God as we read above. Following this, God brings about complete transformation to Hezekiah’s life, and he lives for a further 15 years. Though we may not be in Hezekiah’s situation, I believe that all of us can learn from his response to God that will help and encourage us in our own daily prayer lives.
1.   Posture in Prayer
Hezekiah is ill and in company, so he turns his to face the wall before he engages in prayer. Hezekiah is seeking out devotional privacy with God, putting himself into an environment with less distractions and allowing himself to focus upon God.
First and foremost, have we made that time and space each day, with no distractions, that is devoted to being with God? What does this look like for each of us? Prioritising and not compromising that time where we are intentional about seeking God is a practical first step to take that will help us to fully engage in prayer, with undivided attention.
2.   Know God
As Hezekiah calls out to God we see he may be recalling the promise God made with David concerning his successors and the throne - see 1 Kings 8:25 - that is relevant to Hezekiah as king. From Scripture we can learn of God’s precious promises, see the incredible work that He has done for His people and know the aspects He reveals to us about His own character that we can trust in.
Reflect on something you are praying about in this season and explore and praise God for what it is about Him that means He is able to answer your prayer.
e.g. “God, I know and praise you that you are <x> and/or have done <y>, and that is why I know that you can move in <z> situation.”
 3.   Praying when it seems Hopeless
Hezekiah’s situation seems completely hopeless, yet we see he still makes that time to intentionally seek God through his distress and God absolutely brings around that transformation. God is able to work in your ‘impossible’ situation, so keep going, continue to seek Him in it.
I pray that this is an encouragement for you! Our God is able and He is listening. Let’s make and prioritise time devoted to Him, praise Him for who He is and what He’s done, and ask for His intervention in all situations, even if they seem hopeless. All glory be to God.

How can we show love like the bible says? It says to show love with actions and deeds instead of through words. How?
Give the benefit of the doubt. Don’t jump to conclusions.
Associate with people others consider annoying.
Respond to gossip with encouragement.
Be patient with those taking a long time.
Don’t celebrate any sort of wrongdoing.
Be a friend to people with no friends.
Don’t get offended when provoked.
Forgive people who have hurt you.
Take every opportunity to be kind.
Don’t be jealous or full of envy.
Be gentle with your speech.
Tutor those who need help.
Defend those being bullied.
Don’t boast or be proud.
Don’t give up on people.
Be positive and hopeful.
Give second chances.
Offer transportation.
Don’t think any evil.
Share the gospel.
Feed the hungry.

God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.

I would rather be what God chose to make me than the most glorious creature that I could think of; for to have been thought about, born in God’s thought, and then made by God, is the dearest, grandest and most precious thing in all thinking.
