Site Closing
Okay guys, sorry to say it but the staff has agreed that due to inactivity we will be closing the site. We hope that everyone enjoyed their time here hope to eventually be able to write together again! We’ve agreed that the site will not be taken offline (unless something strange happens on invisionfree’s end), but it will no longer be actively moderated. You are free to continue using the boards to finish out storylines if you’d like, however as we won’t be regularly checking in on the site, I suggest you save anything you’d be afraid to lose.
We are also encouraging people to tag any AWST related writing and art on tumblr with the tag “AWST Drabbles” so we can let the site live on and maybe finish up any unfinished business.
Thank you for a great time!

Six Months Later
We have decided we will be pushing our site six months into the future to help make plots progress and change a few things up on the ships. Any events that you wish to play out set at any point during the fast forward are encouraged to be played out in the Back to the Past section of our forum. The Fenghuang
The crew, aware that they were very, very close to being caught, worked with some contacts and allies to make it appear that they were headed to the Kalidasa solar system to attack a military base and deliver weapons to a local insurgent group operating out of Freehold. In reality the crew traveled to the Blue Sun solar system and laid low, causing little trouble and focusing on refueling and replenishing supplies while hoping the Alliance lost some interest in them.
Anxiety is running high with much of the crew feeling like they're wasting their time (and some probably happy for six months in relative safety).
Gunship Justice XVII
The ship took the bait, rushing off to Freehold in the Kalidasa solar system, only to discover that the Fenghuang was nowhere to be found.
Although they did take the opportunity to crush the insurgent cell based there, so far everyone is feeling like their time has been wasted. The Alliance isn't particularly happy with the lack of progress and as The Fenghuang has caused very little trouble lately, their interest has waned. The Gunship has been given another six months to locate and arrest their target before they are called back to the IAV Justice, the mission a failure.
The Setting Three Hills, February 2516 All eyes are on Three Hills, a small Rim World that heavily favors Independents. The small planet rarely catches much Alliance attention as it's so far out on the Rim and doesn't cause a lot of trouble despite it's allegiance. That said, things are rarely done perfectly by the book here. Alliance rules aren't of utmost importance when people are just barely scraping by. Mission Brief: Fenghuáng After six months of playing it obnoxiously safe, everyone is ready to go. When word reached them that the Gunship that is targeting them was heading toward Three Hills, probably set to arrest (and worse) dozens of people, they've set out to fight back- and hopefully take down some "loyal Alliance soldiers" in addition to showing them that they aren't just going to lay down and die. Objectives
Travel to Three Hills and check in with local contacts to determine what needs done to fortify the locals.
Attempt to get close to the Justice, undercover, in the hope of vandalizing the ship.
Mission Brief: Gunship Justice XVII Frustrated with a lack of progress, the Gunship has headed toward Three Hills to check in with the "neglected" locals- knowing they'll have the chance to arrest dozens, maybe hundreds of people for not following Alliance law. They also know that this "cracking down" could be just the thing to draw out the hiding Fenghuang. Objectives
Arrive on Three Hills, aiming to check in with local businesses and audit citizens- aiming to arrest in the name of the Alliance.
Attempt to locate the Fenghuang, hidden among Three Hills' own ships, in the hope of completing your mission.
Mission Closes: 30 September 2013

The Setting Rebels: New Melbourne, June 2515 Alliance: The Kallidasa Solar System/Gunship Justice XVII, June 2515 It's a cat and mouse game both crews are united and ready for lift off. Alliance Gunship XVII has left the IAV Justice to search for the crew of the Fenghuáng and bring them in- preferably alive so they can be questioned, however there will be no complaints if they are dead and can't cause any more trouble. The Fenghuáng is set to keeping a low profile and setting up contacts on the world of New Melbourne. Mission Brief: Fenghuáng The crew has received a tip that there is a contact to be made at a high class party on New Melbourne, which means infiltrating the celebration and pretending that they belong. No one will be able to call out and stay on the ship as it is being serviced in an independents-friendly shop. Objectives
Infiltrate the party and keep up the ruse that the crew belongs at a high society event. At least, don't get kicked out of the party for causing trouble.
Keep an eye out for trouble while the contact is located- not everyone in New Melbourne is Independent-friendly and there are likely Alliance ears at the party.
Mission Brief: Gunship Justice XVII The Gunship has left the IAV Justice to hunt down the rebels and bring them back to Alliance cruiser. The crew is following a tip that has them hunting in the Kallidasa Solar System in the hope that the Fenghuáng will turn up- however if they can uncover other rebel scum, that's a welcome diversion. Objectives
Establish a routine and a pecking order on the new ship. The gunship is much smaller than the main cruiser and is no giant floating city- everyone is in much tighter quarters.
Keep an ear out for transmissions regarding suspected rebels... such as a suspicious crew in New Melbourne?
Mission Closes: 30 June 2013 Note that this is the first mission without the IAV Justice in play- all Alliance characters must be on the Gunship.

I went ahead and opened the check a little early as I know those of us in school are probably in finals and might need a few more days. It’ll be open until the end of the month!

We have noticed that we are missing some personality types and positions aboard both of our ships and think it would be beneficial towards plotting if we could introduce some characters that could fit these roles. You'll find lists below of some wanted characters, listed by their group. If you would like us to add a requested character to this list, leave a note with a short description in the linked thread. You can go into more detail in a request thread in the plotting forum.
Rebel Crew
More aggressive characters. Just about everyone's getting along pretty well on board. While that's fantastic in real life, a little conflict could go a long way when it comes to RPing!
Characters who are comfortable in combat.
Engineers
Alliance Crew
Strong Alliance Supporters- people who are veryinto the Alliance cause.
Combat trained characters

The Setting Rebels: Unclassified Moon #3458 (orbit), April 2515 Alliance: Outreach Base 3875/Gunship Justice XVII, April 2515 With everything all fixed up and the status of the mission reported to Central Command on the part of the Alliance, it is time for all parties to disembark their current locations and get back up into the black. However, Captain Sherwood seems to have had a sudden seemingly random desire to travel all the way out to the rim, orbiting the ship round an unclassified, lifeless moon only yards from Reaver space. Meanwhile, with the government having been notified of the rebels’ status, they are shaking up the Justice and making sure they catch their criminals. Mission Brief: Fenghuáng Your captain, for no seemingly good reason, has ordered you to a location that has no prospects - and what would he even want to hide you on the dark side of an insignificant moon for anyway? It’s not like it’s that safe so deep into Reaver territory.  Objectives
While waiting for the captain to return you receive a brief for a heist job - stealing credits from a local ‘lord’, as he calls himself, on a relatively nearby rim planet. The place is guarded with lots of trained guns and tripwire security measures.
Where is the captain anyway? There’s a shuttle missing and so is he - make of it what you will.
Mission Brief: IAV Justice/Gunship Justice XVII Orders have come in from Central Command that these criminals, traitors and low-lives must be caught. They prefer alive but ridding the ‘Verse of the scum won’t be frowned upon. To do so they have asked for a special task force to assemble and man the gunship as a special shock force to take them down. Objectives
Receive the news from Central Command and make your decisions (note that going forward only the gunship will be in play, so that’s probably where you ought to go!)
Man the gunship for departure and make sure everything is in place and that you are secure in you role - and with the new commander of the task force, Commander Wilson Jacobson
Mission Closes: 31 May 2013

Status Update
We know things have been slow lately and that's surely as much the administrative team's faults as anyone else's. We've decided to bypass having our standard activity check this month and instead are going to let everyone get back into the swing of things with the new mission, April 1st- so if you've fallen behind this month, you will be able to start fresh in April with a clean slate.
Some things will be changing- hopefully to make for easier plotting and a better roleplaying experience.
The Alliance will be launching a ship to specifically take down the Fenghuang, which will be made up of a few current Alliance crew members. This ship will be much smaller than the Justice (although a bit bigger than the small Fenghuang) and everyone will be a bit more intimately acquainted. This should hopefully make for better plotting!
We will be moving to two month long missions. It seems like people tend to be doing a little better with more time to complete threads. We will still be checking in every month with activity and we will be helping to guide you with overall plotting goals for the month, but how everything pans out continues to be up to you!

A possible change- we want feedback!
Although members have been doing an excellent job at being active, overall, both ships' crews are currently quite small. While this isn't a particularly huge deal on the Fenghaung which is meant to be a very small crew on a small ship, the IAV Justice is a massive ship. Currently most of the crew, including the Captain is being NPC-d. We are considering altering the site and instead of focusing on an entire Alliance cruiser and instead focusing on a smaller craft that has been dispatched to bring the Fenghuang to Justice, hopefully making the ship a bit more intimate and conducive to plotting.
All that said, we would like your feedback and ideas- we would not want to make this change if all it would do is mess up people's plotting and plans for the future. Please feel free to reblog this post or respond to THIS thread on the site with any concerns or ideas you might have.

Just wanted to both congratulate and thank people for the great activity last month!
We lost quite a few members in our activity check and are down to ten characters- HOWEVER, we're very pleased with the activity of everyone who has stuck around, and this was by far one of our best months post-totals wise!

Note
I read the post about characters with Rebel sympathies on the Justice - does Sam kind of count? He's kind of neutral to the rebels, he just likes getting his job done properly. If needs be I can alter that bit of him.
He's fine as is. We're more concerned with characters who are considering defecting, just because it's not realistic if half the Alliance fleet is considering switching sides!
(nothing against already existing characters who are on the fence/considering switching sides- this is just for new characters)

St Albans, January 2515 It's been a long month stranded on the icy planet of St Albans, and believe it or not it's only going to get colder. Perhaps that storm had done more damage than was initially thought, or maybe it's difficult to find exactly the right parts. Either way, neither ship has managed to get off world.
Mission Brief: Fenghuáng The ship is beginning to warm up at the core after good relations have managed to secure all the parts needed. It's once again possible to sleep on board and life support is on, but the engines take a good long time to warm up and install properly. Looks like you're stuck here until everything is back to full power, so perhaps it is a good opportunity to have a look round. Objectives
Explore the area
Locate an abandoned mineshaft filled with riches before the Alliance crew get there (*perk of winning Mission 3)
Be ready for take off at 00.00 1 February sharp!
Mission Brief: IAV Justice It's difficult to keep track of the recent failings of the IAV Justice, and there is no doubt that Command Central will be displeased. Relations with the St Albans inhabitants haven't gotten any easier, nor have all the parts for the ship as yet been located. Still, there are only so many people that can aid in this mission to find them, while the rest must be kept occupied with some reconnaissance. Objectives
Acquire new power cells by any means necessary and reinstall them in the ship (remember space suits will be a must for all those that wants to keep their lungs)
Explore the area
Locate an abandoned mineshaft filled with riches and discover the rebel group already there (*drawback of losing Mission 3)
Be ready for take off at 00.00 1 February sharp!
