News Update 4/12/24: New Comic Dubs!!
Hey there all!
It's been a big DR month this month, just wanted to let you about some new comic dubs that have come out!
(By order of release):
The Boy in the Volcano, Part 1 by Heroic Havoc

Night of the One Hundred Revelries, Coming 5/6/24
Hey there all, we're back again! The next comic scene, from Book 2’s Chapter 16: Night of the One Hundred Revelries, will be releasing on 5/6/24.
This is the first scene from the chapters following the end to the fanfiction's hiatus, so another important step forward for the project. Once this scene is up, there will only be three more scenes from Book 2, before it will be time to start into Book 3. Super exciting!!

The gaang from the canon world! They're meant to be a bit older here, which is why Toph's hair has grown out a little.
Wasn't planning on this one, but wanted to do something a little different to celebrate the release of the Netflix show! It's had mixed reviews so far, but I can say I absolutely loved it, the excitement of seeing the familiar story retold in this new medium has had me falling in love with this series all over again. Now that the show has been renewed for two more seasons, I'm beyond hyped to see how they adapt Books 2 and 3.
(On the next Distorted Reality comic — work on the next scene is getting close to done, so hoping to be able to announce it sometime in possibly early April for a May release. Hope to see you all there!!)

News Update 12/15/23: Comic Dub, Prologue
Hey all!!
Already mentioned this with the last update, but wanted to add it here too. Heroic Havoc on YouTube has made a comic dub of the Prologue using AI voices from the original voice cast. (Also available on TikTok here)
AI voice cloning is a technology I've been fascinated with ever since discovering it, it's a powerful tool with a lot of potential applications, especially for fan projects. Super exciting to see it used here, definitely check it out when you get the chance!!

The Serpent’s Pass, Coming 12/4/23
Hey all, it’s that time again! The next scene from Book 2’s Chapter 11: The Serpent’s Pass will be releasing on 12/4/23.
A bit of a rocky development for this one, we’re still in the old 2016-2017 storyboards and this scene got a new section spliced in inspired by the new 2020 chapters. However, it’s been exciting bringing another scene to completion, and it’s another important milestone, given this is the final scene adapted from chapters before the end of the hiatus. (Next up will be scenes from chapters written in 2020 and onward. Wish me luck!)

And that's it for this one! Next scene will be from Book 2's Chapter 11, The Serpent's Pass, in which Sokka, Katara, and take the pass toward Ba Sing Se and the coming invasion, running into some obstacles along the way...
Work on the scene is fairly far along, so my hope will be to have it ready to post earlier than the normal six month average, possibly in December. Wish me luck!

(Side note, it looks like Tumblr's image limit per post has been increased from ten images to thirty. This one change is going to make my life about a hundred times easier... This has never happened to me on Tumblr before.)

Bitter Truth [Scene 2] Coming 7/31/23
Hey there all, it’s that time again! The next scene from Book 2′s Bitter Truth will be releasing on all the usual platforms (Tumblr, Tapas, Comic Fury, and deviantArt) on 7/31/23.
A bit more of a minor scene this time, my original reasons for adding this scene to the lineup back in 2016 got shuffled around and mostly cut during the intervening years of revisions, but an interesting visual challenge nonetheless.

If you’re a Russian speaker, be sure to check out the Russian translation by logander24!! The translation is now caught up with the most recent scenes — such amazing work as always.

Bitter Truth [Scene 1]: 31-50 Coming 2/13/23
Hey all! It’s that time again, for the last half of Bitter Truth, scene 1. The pages will be released on all the usual platforms (Tumblr, Tapas, Comic Fury, and deviantArt) on 2/13/23.
With all the energy and hype of seeing the fanfiction reach its conclusion, it’s been a busy time of getting a good start on infrastructure for future scenes. However, I’d always hoped to get these pages out closer to the first half than the usual update cycle, and it’s exciting to finally get here.

As a side note, for anyone out there who may be following this project who doesn’t read English, or any of the languages with translations, and would find it easier to read the comic using Google Translate, I’ve now added transcripts of dialogue for the pages on Comic Fury. (They are also available as full scripts from a directory here. In Google Chrome there’s a setting that makes pages in other languages auto translate, but I’m not sure about other browsers, and for anyone who uses copy and paste into Google Translate I thought this might be more convenient.)
I’ve now caught up to everything but The Chase scenes, and I hope to get those done before too long. Thanks so much to the reader who suggested this as a resource!!

Surprise!
Distorted Team Avatar, a piece in celebration of the fact that Baithin has posted the final chapters of Distorted Reality, and the fanfiction is now officially complete!! Back when I started working on the comic project years ago I can honestly say I never imagined this day would come—Distorted Reality is a massive epic with breathtaking settings and familiar characters in new roles, and if you haven’t checked it out yet and want to see how it all ends, now you can. (For podcast listeners, M3 and C have also posted the audio versions for all the remaining chapters!! Here’s a sneak peak of what some of the Book 3 designs going into the final battles could eventually look like—while that’s still too far away to think about for the comic and nothing is final at this point, some of these may help serve as a basis for designs later, and it was fun to jump ahead.
Getting to read this story has been such an incredible journey, and I’m looking forward as always to making more comics and getting to continue to enjoy the story in the years to come.
