Okay, weird question: but does choosing ash gray (or any of the less common hair colors) imply that the crown dyed their hair? Or are these all colors you can be born with?
It means that your Crown's hair grayed very early lol

Soooo I've found this game...and dove head first amidst my busy thesis writing and EXAMS.
I just couldn't help but make not one playthrough, but FOUR PLAYTHROUGHS with individual MCs for each male LI, and ta-da, 4 new OCs/Crowns? I already made their personalities and mannerisms and I might write those in another post hehehe

Hi, I don't know if this has been asked yet or not but, how do the healer's abilities work? Is there a limit to what they can heal or can they heal anything given time and the right recourses and knowledge? Are they able to aid with medical issues a person has had since childhood? Like glasses for poor vision, for example. Sorry if this is too long, reading how Ezo's arm was healed got me thinking
I actually posted this as part of extra lore on the Patreon sometime last year, but this is also something that will be expanded on in the story, so I figured I'll add it for this ask as well! Under a read more because it's quite lengthy.
To address your questions first, though, the short answer: healing magic can pretty much only mend physical injuries and boost someone's immune system. You can't use healing magic to correct more complex medical issues like poor vision, hearing loss, or even serious illnesses.
Longer answer beneath the cut!
Healing magic, aside from using alchemy, relies heavily on a specific type of aura magic. Essentially, to become a healer, a user must train their aura to become a healing type: this is often done by long periods of meditation in locations that have high concentrations of magic from nature.
These are often considered sacred locations, commonly called Sacred Sites, and they are also where a lot of spirits tend to gather. For example, think of an ancient tree, or a mountaintop, or an oasis in the desert. The abundance of natural magic in these locations makes it so that they're rejuvenating to anyone who visits them, and temples are often built within or near such sites.
Once someone has spent a long enough time in one of these locations, soaking up the natural magic, their aura will gradually take on these same qualities. To be able to soak up the magic itself requires training and a high level of discipline. If an untrained person attempts this, they risk "overloading" their magic pathways by absorbing too much magic all at once, and thereby risk organ failure or even death.
Assuming the person soaking up the natural magic is trained, however, they can then use their aura to rejuvenate and heal other people, accelerating the healing process of their body to close up an injury or bolster their immune system.
The obvious drawback is that the healing aura will eventually return to normal the longer you spend away from a Sacred Site. This necessitates regular visits and meditations in order to keep healing people. Also, healing magic cannot cure severe diseases on its own. While it boosts your immune system, people rely on alchemical tonics and potions to cure them from illnesses.
However, as people in this world don't have a proper conception of what causes disease (they don't know about bacteria or viruses, etc), alchemical cures can only help so much. In the case of a natural disease caused by a virus, the most people in this world can do is bolster someone's immune system and treat the symptoms with alchemy, and hope that helps enough to have someone survive. As such, plagues are still a big problem in this world.
There are magic-related issues that healing magic and alchemy can help with very well, though, such as when someone's magic core or their magic paths in the body don't function properly.
For example, if someone's body is weak after suffering from illness or injury for a long time, this can affect or damage the magic paths in their body as well. It can cause unwanted side effects, such as someone's own magic damaging their own body, or randomly casting magic when unintended and causing damage to their environment/others around them. In such a situation, healing can work very well to help restore these paths.

Hi, just wanted to say, I love your game!
I don’t work right now, unfortunately, so I was looking up to ten best free games in itch.io and yours was like the 5th or 6th. I clicked on it, not thinking it was going to be much because I don’t always see good quality products that are free, and lo and behold… it was absolutely glamorous, amazing, wonderful, (if you’re picturing that Madonna meme you’re on the right track haha 🤭🫣)
I’m basically trying to say I really love your game, and I’m grateful to you that it’s free. I don’t know if that’s a bad thing to feel grateful for, but for however long it’s free for I’m really glad. IF games are what I fall back to when times are though cuz it combines a lot of my extreme interests in one beautiful story. Unfortunately I can’t just buy all of them and I have to search for them on platforms like itch.io .
I didn’t even expect to find an IF, let alone one as good as yours. Thank you, dear author, really. I’ve only just started and I’m really hooked. I just wanted to pause to thank you real quick.
(Plus your art style is soooo beautiful; I’d love to know how you learned it or what references you used to get the visual middle eastern look! Your character drawings actually look like people from the Middle East, which is surprising as I’ve not seen a lot of people draw faces like that.)
Anyway, have a good day/night, and once again; thank youu ❤️❤️
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the kind words!! I'm very fortunate that I get monetary support through Patreon so I don't have to think about having to put a price on the game, and I'm happy to share it with others 💖
As for all the character art in the game, those are all portraits commissioned from @artbygaia as credited!! I gave her specific references and faceclaims based on what I wanted the characters to look like (which you can find on my pinterest), and she adapted it all wonderfully, definitely did a stunning job on all of them.
Donate to her ko-fi if you can and want to show some appreciation!!

hi again, I’m almost done with your book and have been taking screenshots of my fave moments. I can’t keep the excitement in and have no one to talk about this w.
Would you mind me sending them to you in your asks when I’m done ?
Absolutely, feel more than free!! I probably won't publish all of them, but I love hearing about readers' favorite moments and reactions to the story 💖
Same goes for anyone else 😊
Also, if you want a place to talk about the game, liveblog your reactions, theorize with other fans etc, there's also the AToC Discord server you can join (for 16 and older)!!

am a fellow D romancer (love them till death istg) and my bestie wouldn't stop making fun of Dara's hairstyle, saying it looks like a fucked up haircut of a little boy, chosen by his mom 😭
I regret to inform you the way D cuts their hair is literally freeballing it with a knife whenever it gets too near to their eyes without using any sort of mirror. It's a miracle Dara's front bangs are actually straight (Delal's front bangs are not but it somehow ended up suiting her face more than Dara lol).
So your friend is wrong in that it's even worse than that 💀

Hii, I would like to just thank you for your beautiful book. Your writing is inspiring and you’re so good at describing, it’s really admirable. Very easy to picture the beauty of things I’m your world because it’s so well described.
I specifically came here to thank you for the bath scene in the earlier chapters. My character has locs and I almost cried when you talked about washing them and maintaining the moisture with oils. I was like ‘reallll’ lol. I remember when I decided to keep my natural hair instead of chemically straightening it, on of the first things I learned was to maintain moisture with oils. I use a kind of oil/cream concoction now, but the way the servants (I forgot their names unfortunately) washed my Crown’s hair immediately reminded me of the first time I washed my natural hair.
Just, thank you for putting so much thought into these seemingly minor things. Authors I’ve read usually stop putting thought after assigning what hair their mc has.
Anyway, I’m super excited to get further into your story and see where it goes! (Also, I love your characterization of well, the characters lol. So chefs kiss)
I'm so happy to hear that!! I don't have curly or coily hair myself, but from playing these types of games a lot it's a recurring complaint I've heard from players and readers who do.
Honestly, it's the very least I can do as a writer to learn from the mistakes of other authors and not repeat them myself. I can also relate to the feeling of being overlooked/excluded in certain choice-based games that still (even if covertly) assume the MC is basically white regardless of the choices the player makes, and how frustrating that can be. I'm really glad you felt seen while playing my game!!
Thank you for the very kind message, I hope you enjoy the rest 💖💖

Hi so sorry to bother you but I want to learn how to make IFs, so I've been using twine and trying to learn how to use sugarcube but like how 😭😭😭
Babes I am so embarassed I'm literally studying computer science oh my god. Like in theory I know that programming languages are different but this is the first time java vs javascript is really hitting,,,,
Do you have links to any resources you used to learn? Like how you randomized variables (for the 'i'm into both men and women' option's gender setting) and how to do the pronoun thing properly, and stuff like the codex, plus if you can how you customized that sidebar
Thank you and I'm sorry to bother you!!
No worries at all!! Here's a masterlist of Twine resources you can use for the things you mentioned and more. It includes tutorials for beginners, including multiple different ways on how to code pronouns, CSS customization and templates for your game, etc.
For the randomization of variables, the line of code you want is <<set $variable to either("option1", "option2", "option3", ...)>>
But for my purposes specifically, to maintain an even 2 male/2 female LI split, I had to use the code in a little more convoluted way since randomizing all the genders with that code could end up with an "uneven" balance (like 3 out of 4 LIs being randomized as female, or all LIs ending up as male).
If you want to do something similar with having a 2 male/2 female LI randomization, here's how I went about it, though I'm sure there's a much quicker way to do it. Mind you I was a total beginner when I wrote this haha:
Tumblr media
Basically what this does is randomize R's gender and randomize X's gender first to either male or female with the first two lines. If R and X are both set as male or female, then A and D will both be set as the opposite. If R and X are set as different genders, however, then A's gender will be randomized next. Then, based on whether A is male or female, D's gender will be selected to complete the 2/2 split.
Hope this helps!!

Am I the only who one doesn’t feel bad for the farmer dude (or the Crown for that matter)? 💀 idk if it’s just colored by my aromanticism but it’s annoying when people blame you for something you told them about in advance to make sure they were okay with it. Someone else’s feelings are Not X’s issue.
Nah, I don't think that's aromanticism, I think that's just common sense 🤪
I also personally don't feel particularly bad for the farmer guy, I think the other anon was just relating that behavior to their friends as they mentioned in their ask so that's why they had some sympathy for him. I definitely don't think anon was trying to make it seem as if it were X's responsibility or anything like that, they fully acknowledged he was delusional.
Like we all agree X absolutely doesn't owe that guy anything. X made their terms clear in advance, the farmer agreed. It's not X's fault the dude deluded himself 🤷🏽‍♀️

Thank you all so much for the lovely asks and messages ❤️
I won’t be posting most of the asks since I don’t want to spam anyone’s dashboard with that, but your support has definitely been received and is much appreciated!! I’ll be slowly working my way through answering a few, but for the ones I don’t respond to, know that I’ve read all your asks (probably multiple times lol) and they’ve made my week much brighter ✨✨
