Angst blurb for my new Padawan OC fic, she becomes sifo dyas’s padawan, then he dies and years later she becomes obi wans. They only have each other at the end.
She stares, and stares and can’t move her gaze away from what used to be her brother. The husk of a man that became a monster, a nightmare, and an abomination. Footsteps sound behind her, and a loud, broken keen breaks the silence before a thump hits the group. She turns to see her father on his knees, collapsed in on himself, his head bowed in supplication. Tears break the ash on his face with trails of water, his gaze empty, in unimaginable grief and desolation.
Her feet lead to his side, where she kneels alongside him and hesitantly outstretches her hand, afraid of the reaction she could be faced with to the tragedy behind her. Her father stays still for a minute before leaning slightly towards her, all the permission needed to what her arms around him and place his head on her chest. She breaks the muteness first.
“Athair…” her voice broke, raspy and choked with tears. “I am sorry Athair, I am so unimaginably sorry.”

The thing about CodyWan is that they are versatile because, like:
I like fics where Cody is confident and sure of himself and Obi-Wan is uncertain and not sure of himself because he hasn’t been close to somebody like that before
I like fics where Obi-Wan is a cool Jedi and Cody’s got a massive and poorly hidden crush that he doesn’t know how to act on
I like fics where they’re both uncertain and tiptoeing around each other and it’s a slow burn, they realize they share feelings
I like fics where they are both confident and have been in relationships but when they find one another they realize oH this is different
Canon-compliant? AU? Fix-it? As long as the writing is good, they can do it all.

Ok!!! more has come!
currently writing the Fett Racing Au, starting with Cody’s POV of one of his wins and him learning of Obi wan for the first time
i have fallen down the F1 and motocross hole and can’t get up
I have an idea
A very good idea
yall remember that one pic of ewan mcgregor in his biking suit
Tumblr media
I also found this gem:
Tumblr media
so idea is: Fett Racing, with rising Star Cody Fett, son of legendary Jango Fett who died in an accident when Cody and his brothers were younger
(Still not sure what Cody and Jango would be driving but I’m leaning towards nascar or rally, most likely rally bc its my fav)
Rex, something like a middle son who made it into F3 meets Obi Wan’s younger brother Anakin, an absolutely insane driver who he becomes best friends with
Obi Wan is a retired motocross driver turned coach that can still absolutely destroy any competition, and who Cody is infatuated with

My personal headcanon for the fanon "command batch" age order (featuring my hc personality notes for them before they get deployed) because I am procrastinating:
Ponds -> Oldest! Cheerful and responsible, also a bit annoying. Honestly? Dick Grayson vibes. Bly -> Second Oldest! A romantic <3 Wolffe -> Middle Child/Older Middle Child when including Rex, quieter and shy, but loyal Cody -> Second youngest, shortest, a bit grouchy. Tries to act older/more mature than he is Fox -> technical batch baby, too smart for his own good and a bit of a brat, has a lot of neuroses + Rex -> official batch baby even if only by adoption, a growth cycle behind the others, feisty, a bit clingy

Hidden Empire issue #1 | Choose Your Destiny: An Obi-Wan & Anakin Adventure OH THIS IS A COOL LITTLE WORLDBUILDING THING!! One of the most popular tropes in fic is the idea that Jedi can shield from each other and I find the idea fascinating, because it’s not really clear precisely how the Jedi’s psychic abilities work, but it primarily seems that they’re rarely directly telepathic (Saesee Tiin is listed as a telepath in the character encyclopedia, as his specific talent) and lean more towards being empathic, that they primarily sense feelings and intentions, occasionally flashes of imagery and insight. But it’s further complicated by how each Jedi’s ability is unique to them, their talents depend on what they’re naturally gifted in and what they train hard to achieve, as well as the way Jedi bonds work in canon is more along the lines of, “The better you know this person, the more you naturally vibe with them.  It’s not something to be created or broken, just like you can decide to get to know someone, but you have to spend time with them, and you can’t unknow them once you do.”  Jedi bonds seem to be a forever thing. Strong Force-users are probably better at reading the thoughts of others, Sith users probably just dive straight in and rip thoughts out of people’s heads–like Maul does to Jesse on Mandalore, he just tears right in there and pulls the thoughts out, without care for how it affects the person.  In contrast, the Jedi don’t use the ability that way (the one time they tried, on Cad Bane, they stopped because going any further might damage his mind).  And if you’re familiar with the person, there’s an even greater chance that thoughts will leak through. So, where does that leave shielding?  These are the only two instances that I know of and they’re only supplementary canon, but I think it makes sense.  I love the idea that these might even be two different techniques, because one is coming from a Sith and one is coming from a Jedi. Maul taught Qi’ra to cloud her mind to keep a Force-user from reading her emotions and intentions, to embrace confusion and chaos in her thoughts so that Palpatine couldn’t get a clean grip on her. Mace says he was shielding, which would leave his thoughts still clear to himself, he would still remain calm and centered. One is chaos, one is calm. Both will hide your thoughts from a Force-user looking to see you through the Force, but their motivations and effects are totally different, because the Sith are out of control and they embrace that wildness, even when it means hurting others or themselves.  This small trick isn’t going to hurt Qi’ra or Maul when they use it, but it’s part of a bigger methodology of how they use their emotions and we all know where that leads.  No Sith is ever balanced or content, that’s baked into the premise of embracing the dark side. Meanwhile, the Jedi embrace calm and balance, because the Force works based on the emotions you put into it, so they put calm and clarity into it and receive balance in return.  They shield themselves, not cloud themselves. The difference between the two is small but also extremely important and I love that a lot.

i think Cody is such a fun character because he’s so intimidating when you don’t know him but as soon as you talk to him you realize he’s literally the best ever and i think everybody has a different perspective of him and that’s really neat
like, you have Waxer and Boil who talk about him like he’s their favorite grumpy older brother who they love annoying the shit out of but also respect so insanely deeply
then you’ve got Helix talking about how he’s “the most competent kriffing moron in the entire galaxy” (“just because he can kick spin a droid doesn’t mean he should”)
then there’s the General, Obi-Wan, who talks of him as though he’s an angel sent directly from the Force. they love bugging the shit out of one another with their little games and quips and enjoy each other’s company in every mean they can have it.
that’s not to mention other legions- the 501st loves him and thinks he’s the coolest fucker to walk the galaxy (they’re right). Fives and Echo tackle hug him like he’s that one cousin you only ever see at family gatherings but love. Rex is his best friend and it’s incredibly obvious if you hold a conversation with him just how much they love each other.
his batchmates love teasing him because all siblings love that (especially Fox and Wolffe. they all have to wrestle and spar every time they see each other. they just have to.)
the Bad Batch owe their lives to him and they don’t hold back on the respect they have for him because of it. they literally don’t view him as a reg and have no problems taking his orders because they love him!!!
Anakin and Ahsoka have that weird brother-uncle-father figure dance going on with him (much like with Obi-Wan) but they also think he’s really, really cool
essentially, everyone loves him in different ways and. i’m just thinking about it

I'm really sick of fandom and narrative alike moving towards treating Mace Windu's character in some bad light whenever he gets any focus as of late.
Tales of the Jedi showcases a fallout between Mace/Dooku from the latter's perspective and it's kind of stupid: Mace does his actual job but the narrative and fans don't exactly paint it in a good light; he is treated as very stoic and cold for wanting to follow protocol and the rules even though it was the right call anyway given the context of the sitation. Just because he wasn't instantly wanting to play detective and stuck to the mission doesn't make him less caring or compassionate.
First off, I'm tried of acting like Windu's willingness to stick to following the Council is seen as something bad: they have to deal with the consequences of unsanctioned actions that creates additional headaches and problems. Wanting to follow protocol and rules shouldn't be a bad thing and is a fucking courtesy to not constantly throw your colleagues in leadership under the bus to pursue your version of doing what's "right".
Secondly, fandom really plays a double standard on Windu. When he follows the rules and protocol, he's uncaring and detached. When he decides more decisive action in a manner even Anakin is on board, all of a sudden, he's terrible for not sticking to his guns and in both things, is regarded as the "embodiment of the problems of the Jedi Order" and it's stupid considering this episode shows how he got promoted. Like pick a fucking point and stick to it. Fandom will find anyway to make him look bad regardless if it isn't even that deep.
Third, I'm so tired of the narrative never giving Mace some consideration. While fandom compeltely exaggerates the narrative being against him, it doesn't help he's often used to contrast to Anakin/Dooku's character. Put him against people who he actually has no problems with. Obi-Wan. Yoda. Depa. And suddenly, you get all the content other blogs have to defend Mace's character. That's what happen when he's there to be a real character with agency, not there to prop Anakin/Dooku's idealism of doing whatever the fuck they think is "right" without any regard to who has to deal with their mess after the fact.
It's so telling Dooku gets validation for his views by even Yaddle despite the fact he is explicitly part of the "coming darkness" he "warned" the Council about even before the Phantom Menace thereby killing all his points to start with while Mace never gets treated as being RIGHT when he is right.

Obi-Wan thought of the day:
So its canon that Obi-wan is good with mind trick, influence, putting others to sleep, etc
How far does that influence go? We don’t really see Anakin do the same kind of things Obi-wan does, so does this mean he has a propensity for mental force abilities?
Is it easier for him to read minds, feel others thoughts, emotions, influence them? What else can he do as someone who has these abilities? As a general, has he used these in war?
Au idea: Obi-wan becomes incredibly proficient in mind influence by practicing and natural ability, to the point that Qui-Gon becomes wary. He cautions Obi-wan to control and limit his abilities, and he does over the years, until the war. Desperate times call for desperate measures…
