Please don’t tell us you turned him into a lobotomy patient cause that’s what this looks like Brian
Lobotomy? What sick parody of a 80's horror movie do you think this is?
I simply used the resources I had to organize a surgery that would edge Daniel's progession along. As we know, of course, Daniel doesn't have a physical form. I'm actively working on that, but with Paradigm seemingly digging up old dirt, it's becoming increasingly harder to finish my work. Not to mention VaultScape wants to poke their nose in shit I thought they've left behind since Daniels death.
Now that... Daithi's no longer employed, it's going to take some out of the box thinking to justify what I've done. Paradigm has been nothing but a hindrance. It's all up to Kevin's gradual recovery on whether or not any of this was worth it.

Any chance you'd be willing to disclose why Kevin reacted so strongly to Paradigm's presence? Because I have my doubts that most normal human beings would almost have their nervous systems fry by being close to him and while I have my suspicions I'd rather hear it from you.
-Alex
If it pleases you to know, it wasn't in my intention to necessarily try and kill Kevin. You think I would have risked such a proceedure if I knew that the moment there would be an issue with it he would die? I wouldn't be so careless, and neither would Paradigm.
The answers you want don't end with me. If there ever comes a day where Paradigm's interested in opening that prosthetic mouth of his and spewing out nonsense that even Vaultscape would believe, then you'll get your answers there.
For now, I need to figure out where I'm going to dump all of Daithi's shit. Maybe it wouldn't hurt for him to come and get it himself.

Speaking of Kevin. How is he? And what the hell happened to him?
He's.. well. He's Kevin. I'm sure in the end he'll be fine. He needs to be if he reckons he can work as hard as he says he can.
I dropped him off home. Bastard was in one hell of a rough shape, and he sure as hell wasn't staying the night in an office.
Speaking of which, I should really get Daithi to move all of his shit out of the room that'll be Kevin's. I should call him.

hey actually, kevin described a guy with a suit and sunglasses with u. is that paradigm?
Could very well be, yes.
Paradigm goes out frequently. What he does with his time isn't any of my concern, as long as he comes back with the shit I asked him to get.
As for what he wears, well. He dresses himself. I never see what he goes out in until he comes back. It's never questionable, persay, but sometimes he does tend to over-do the poshness of it all.

Well presuming Paradigm’s with you right now, I’d say you’ve got that disk back in your hands. Then what’s the deal? You’re using that original code as a base for this new Daniel you want?
Even if I wanted to, I can't. And not only that, Paradigm's prototype designs don't fit the model idea I have for Daniel's body at all. It would've been such a waste of Daithi's time sourcing all of Daniel's information, including samples.
The original script on the disc has a lock on it. I remember briefly, a long time ago, Daniel asked Seán for a program to encrypt the data, so even if it did wind up in the wrong hands, no one would be able to use it. Per-usual, Seán's involvement in a project serves to be a hinderance to my life.
Whether or not VaultScape managed to figure out how to get past Seán's password while they were in brief posession of it is unknown to me. I'm sure, however, if they had managed to get anything substantial, they would've leaped at the chance to fuck me over by now.
I wouldn't put it past that parasite of a company to play the long con, though.

if dan hated that living ai, sounds like it'd be disrespectful to make him one, right?
If Daniel had a chance for a dying wish, I'm sureee it would've been 'Oh, nooo, Brian, don't turn me into the one thing I despised creating! It'll hinder your ability to keep the company you've worked so hard to build up alive!'
Get your head out of your ass. I know Daniel would have been proud of me either way.

Well if you’re so good at talking about shit, then what the fuck’s with this “paradigm” thing? If it’s the thing that weird shit to Kevin, I swear to god.
Oh, Paradigm? I haven't had the repose to sit and properly think about how I'm going to try and explain any of this. Not that I have much choice, anyway.
I've been closed mouth about it since the start of the company, and for good fucking reason. There are people, no - leeches - out there who want to destroy me, destroy us. What Daniel worked so hard to create, what I've worked so hard to keep alive.
You could call us rivals, creative competators, even. We all fight to be the number one in a dying market. What Daniel created all those years ago rejuvinated what it meant to be an engineer. His brilliance fueled more than just my ego, and that was clear by how withdrawn he became to his first project. He was scared of failing, sure, but he was more scared of becoming successful.
I tried to explain to him that his originality would be perfect for SPAWNTECH, and on the opening day, we... well. As much as I like dwelling on the past, these little details aren't what you asked for, is it?
Paradigm was... is, Daniel's first project. Ground zero. He worked a bit in collaboration with Seán for some bits of it, but ultimately designed its prototype and system functions himself. As good as Seán was at coding at the time, it wasn't comparable to what Daniel had created for his first ever working, living, AI.
He hated it. And in some ways, I hated him for that. For him to create something so.. amazing, so intelligent for how little information Daniel had fed to it at the time.. It reminded me of how in awe of him I was the first time I met him.
At the time, before SPAWNTECH became a recognized as a company, Daniel was associated with another company known as VaultScape. He had been selling blueprints for smaller component pieces and coding decks for other programs to make a quick buck. Daniel was by no means rich, but he made just enough to be humble about it. When VaultScape realised they could capitalise on his potential, they became interested in his other projects, and offered him a chance to present a proposal presentation for Paradigm's design.
Spoiler alert, they rejected it.
Daniel was devastated, and to make matters worse, the disc with Paradigm's original coding abruptly went missing. How is anyone's guess, but what I'm trying to get at here is that Daniel insisted that I go get it back. The only place I could imagine would ever want that disc besides myself was VaultScape.
You could say I have a vendetta against them.

lol look at this loser not even paying his employees, no wonder he left. i certainly wouldnt stick around u brian, unless i was paid to.
I never said I wasn't paying him. It just wasn't with a paycheque like every other convential payment method.
I paid him in other ways. He gave me valuable information I needed on RT.EXE when the program first became corrupted. He risked losing braincells to acquire hours of video and audio of Kevin.
Whether or not Kevin knew what was happening at the time is anyone's guess, but judging how easy it was to lead him to SPAWNTECH, I think we know the answer.
In return, I paid his rent. Daithi working at SPAWNTECH wasn't always such a business transaction. Then again, the lack of funding to his name wouldn't really constitute as a transaction.. Nevertheless, he thrived as much as he could. He has me to thank for that.

He didn’t throw away you’re “gift of employment” you fucking moron! He decided he wasn’t going to deal with your shit anymore! Whatever pay check you gave him could never be worth the shit you’ve put him through
What? You thought I was paying him?
Well, I was, technically, but it wasn't in money.
Daithi is such a closed up... catastrophe. A neutrally toned battle ground. You understand? You couldn't get that man to talk about himself even if you tried. It's no wonder you know hardly anything about him or why he acted the way he did...
I know when to take the blame. I've been taking the blame my entire life. But Daithi? Daithi doesn't speak for anyone else but himself.
Maybe when you get the chance, you should press into him about 'the shit I put him through.' If I've learned anything from our time working together , it's not to speak on Daithi's behalf.

an elecrical shock in his life?
Did you think this was funny?
I almost lost the entire point of this company to a heap of junk who couldn't sit still. Kevin nearly frizzeled from the inside out. Now is hardly the time to make jokes.

I said you’re going to hell, Brian. It’s not like you couldn’t figure that out on your own, even if Daithi as trying to drop that “bombshell” on you gently. He hasn’t thought of you as a friend since you decided insanity was a better option than healing. God, the poor lad... He probably never got the chance to heal himself, what with you drowning yourself in depression.
Daithi? Healing?
I take back what I said about you two being friends. He'd despise you, more than he does me.
Daithi is a good man. I'll admit it. As Daniel did to me, I gave Daithi a place in this fucking company. He threw that away to back up someone who ruined our lives.
It's a lot quieter without him here. I could do with out Paradigm's constant humming in my ear, though.

I know this isn’t the best time kev but you should call Sean at least text him maybe. You could’ve died today
Yikes, give the bastard time to recover, won't you?
It's not like I'd want to go calling up my old friends for affection, let alone one that's a killer.
Then again, I wouldn't put it past him to go running to Seán like a lost puppy. That man craves normality and continuity more than anyone I've ever met. He'd probably forgive Seán in a heartbeat.
God forbid you put a little shock in his life.

I hope Seán hits you with his car before this is over. Maybe then you’ll get to see the real Daniel again.
Eh, you probably won’t end up in the same place, anyway…
Oh, wow. You almost stooped lower than me with that one.
I think I recall Daithi saying something similar... It wasn't at par with how brutally you put yours, persay, but...
Maybe if you spoke up a little more, I could have a frame of reference? If only Daithi wasn't such a two-faced bastard, I'd show him how well I think you two would get along...

You know what he is? What does that even mean? If your just calling him a coward you have no room to speak
It's heart breaking knowing you'll never know what I do.
At the same time, I love knowing everything you don't. I can almost imagine the look on your face when you start to see the bigger picture here.
I would apologize for being cryptic, but it's not a fair game when I give you the cheat codes. Let's try using our brains from now on, shall we?
Oh, and for the record - I wouldn't call Kevin a coward. He's actually quite capable of doing things on his own, as much as I hate to admit. It's just easier to handle his ego when it fits right in the palm of my hand.

It’s not about being best friends, you idiot! It’s about giving Kevin answers— Rights. He has the right to know what you’re doing to him. That you’re using him as the vessel for someone who’d denounce his own friendship with you, if only he could see what you were doing.
And what would that change? Hm?
If I were to give Kevin the insight into SPAWNTECH, the real reason he's who is he is and will continue to stay as until my work is complete-
Do you think he would run away? Report me to the police? I don't think so.
I'm using Kevin because I know what he is. It's almost laughable. I have no shame in calling him pathetic, he's said it himself. Who am I to speak over the facts? Especially when it's got solid evidence to back it up. And oo, do I love evidence.
I'm not becoming his boss to help him work through his problems, he's becoming my pawn to help me work through mine.
And that's all it will ever be, whether or not Daniel would have liked it- nevermind liked him.
