Why didn't you invite me to your wedding? I bet it was beautiful.
K: I apologize, anon. I'm sure if we were acquainted, you would have received an invitation!
Oh, and it was! There was not a dry eye in the room! It was the biggest event of the year! If only you all could have been there!

Entertaining myself thinking about Karamatsu being a typical "manly man" of the household but also just being himself lol
Like he'd carry heavy things, and take on manual labor, and be Mr. fix-it, but he'd also be in the hardware store wearing a crop top with the sleeves cut off, jorts, and cowboy boots

It’s Ume’s birthday and I felt like writing a little something because I always miss characters’ birthdays (๑´ω`๑)
Frost coated the outside of the window, the faint light from the rising sun making the ice glow, but it was easily ignored in the comfortable warmth of the hospital room.
It had been a long night, especially for Ivette, but she’d conquered it like the warrior he knew she was, strong and brave and beautiful. She amazed him.
Karamatsu laid in bed beside her, carefully brushing aside a tuft of soft raven hair from his daughter’s face, still unable to believe that she was real. He’d already cried, been hugged and congratulated by his in-laws, accepted balloons and stuffed animals from friends and family, video chatted with his own family a whole world away, and yet here he was, blown away by the fact that this sleeping angel, small, pink and so new to the universe was really here. That she was really theirs. Ume slept peacefully in her mother’s arms, wrapped up snug and warm in the safest place she could possibly be, and Ivette lifted her tired gaze to him, smiling gently at him.
“You’re crying again, Honey …” she whispered, and Karamatsu chuckled quietly, wiping at his eyes with his rolled sleeve.
“Am I? I didn’t think I had any tears left …” he whispered back. Ivette rested her head on his shoulder, giggling quietly and he held her just a little bit closer to him, resting his cheek against her messy hair. Looking down to the bundle in her arms, he felt his heart overflow with love, unable to contain it all any longer. He smiled down at his daughter, taking in her little nose, her long eyelashes, her pouty mouth, her closed eyes, her short thick brows, her round pink cheeks, her full head of soft black hair. She was the absolute best of them both, there was not a single thing he would change about her. She was perfect, she was amazing, she …
“She’s gorgeous …” he murmured, gingerly tracing her cheek. Ume stirred a bit, her little fingers stretching in her mittens before relaxing, deep asleep.
Ivette hummed in agreement, looking down at her with heavy lidded eyes and a loving upturn of her lips, “Of course she is …” she whispered, a grin suddenly spreading on her face, “she looks just like you after all.”
Karamatsu felt tears well up in his eyes, astonished again that he even had more tears to cry, but he didn’t let them fall. He buried his face in her hair, overwhelmed with happiness and love and everything unconditional in between as he sighed wistfully, “oh my love, I’m unworthy of credit for such radiant beauty.” Karamatsu kissed her temple, running his fingers through his wife’s dark locks he looked to her before looking down to his daughter, realizing he was in the presence of the two most exquisite creatures in the world, “truly, I am but a weed among roses.”
Ivette sleepily laughed, nudging his chin with her head, “you’re not a weed, honey bunny.” She yawned, amberine eyes squeezing shut before fluttering open again, “you’re a whole garden, Karamatsu.”
He closed his eyes, kissing her forehead before pressing his own to hers gently. They stayed that way for a while in the silence of the hospital room, their daughter sleeping soundly in her arms.
Their daughter, so small and remarkable. Finally here safe and warm on a chilly February morning. A precious gift.
Ivette felt herself getting drowsier, but laughed to herself a bit as she thought more about the day Ume had chosen to meet them. “This is all you’re getting from me this year, buster,” she teased, and he opened his eyes, amused.
“There isn’t anything else I could possibly ask for,” he caresses her face, eyes sparkling with mirth.
She bit her lip, simpering, “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
He leaned forward and brushed his lips against hers, pecking her sweetly on the mouth before drawing back, gazing at her lovingly, “Happy Valentine’s Day, Love.”
