Whatever she is, she’s definitely a worse character than Sakura.

No matter how hard I try not to, I keep on going back to hating on AruAni. I just can’t not hate on it. There’s nothing about that pairing that makes it special, and nothing that makes Armin stand out from anyone else in the series. People will point out to me things about the pairing that make it work or make it special, or things about Armin that Annie would find appealing, but literally all of the things they say apply to everyone else. It’s easily the worst canon pairing in the series.

Or maybe I'll be able to move past it one day. I sure hope I will, cuz I recognise how unhealthy this is. I don't want to hate AruAni, I just can't help it, and I just don't see how people like it or how it came about. It's just so dumb and out of place and even character.
Like I'm pretty sure this time around me hating on aruani is just me redirecting the negative feelings I feel towards my old flat mate and some of the people at my old job, but I just can't help but direct it at aruani.
Honestly my opinion on them keeps on flipping, and while I know I'll never truly accept them, I hate the fact I feel this way. It's like one of the only things in life I can't move past. It's so immature of me and I want to forget about it but there's something stopping me from doing so. Like yeah there's part of me that sees some of the things that lead toward aruani in the series, but then other things just make it seem so wrong.
Like Armin is the creepy guy who made up a story to Bertolt about how Annie was being tortured, and just was always a wimp, not really someone Annie herself said she was interested in and like he was barely important to her before the time skip. Hell when did they even become friends or get feelings for each other. Its just so unclear. But now just cuz Armin talked to her crystal all the time and killed a bunch of people, they're supposed to be perfect for each other?
How do aruani stans not see how weird it is? Especially when early series stuff and spin offs and what not made ereannie such a big thing. Like did Armin make Annie smile or remind her of her father or anything like that? Nah he just simped, and Annie had Stockholm syndrome or cabin fever or whatever and now for some reason is into Armin, and the only reason she's not into Hitch is cuz she doesn't swing that way.
I swear aruani just feels like such an out of nowhere thing that happened just cuz Isayama wanted to add something extra and felt like he had no one else to pair either with. Its like Choji and Karui in Naruto. It literally could have just not happened and nothing would change.
Also it doesn't even seem like Annie wants to fight anymore, and so she's not gonna meet up with Eren and have any sort of interaction with him which is a massive waste.
