Rewatched legacy and here’s a few neat things I noticed

Sam has either a poster or book related to another early 80s Disney sci fi film! (Technically 1979) it’s a nice nod. He also has the movie poster for Tron. (His dad made a movie about his own corporate espionage lmao)

The Tron cabinet is at the center of the room, we know this but I’ve never noticed the discs of Tron game machine right behind it!! It makes sense they’d have both but it’s still neat

Same goes for the paranoids machine. ( I don’t think it was ever a real game). Also anyone else notice that the arcade shrunk significantly or do they just consistently show it at a bad angle?

i think what made tron: legacy thematically fucky was misinterpreting tron as a sci-fi/transhumanist story. tron LOOKS sci-fi, and employs scientific concepts to drive its story, but really it’s fantasy — a romp across a nigh-medieval landscape, following a god that accidentally gets pulled down to his subject’s level, exploring their faith and skepticism along the way. the themes are mostly religious, it’s a movie about faith lol. another thing to understand imo is that programs-as-characters, rather than advanced borderline-alive AIs, are actually like, animist manifestations of computer components, more like sprites and fairies than digital human beings………………

decided to finally solidify my tronsona for cringetober!!! he can't really program very well, instead he can databend. this can also count for day 3 (unnecessarily complex outfit) tbh. :> cringetober prompts under the cut!

I was thinking about how excruciatingly painful it must’ve felt, being rectified. Way more harrowing than I can express in drawing. Really dark shit. 

I attended a lecture not too long ago from a well-known animator, who talked about the technique of "digitizing humans" for animation back in the 70s.

Well, that wasn't quite what they did in the original Tron, but the comparison was too amusing to ignore. So, whilst listening to the lecture, I sketched Flynn trying to explain the concept to Tron.

users argue about the pronunciation of gif. programs probably also argue about the pronunciation of gif. and given how many of them would listen to how their users say gif, a common point of contention would be "well MY user says-"

so like the pronunciation of "gif" has the potential to be a schism-level controversy in the tron universe imo
