According To TikTok Amazon Is Officially The It Girl Of Retail Essence
The online commerce hub has now turned into an ultra lifestyle market to find everything from cool gadgets for your home, to luxury fashion. If you’ve been scrolling through TikTok, you’ve most likely come across a few Amazon try-on hauls that had you zoom into the shopping site and fill up your cart. The online commerce hub has now turned into an ultra lifestyle market to find cool gadgets for your home and closet.  Before the influx of viral videos of “Amazon Fashion Finds” garnered a whopping 58.6 million views, the idea of breaking retail boundaries has been planned since 2006 after Amazon acquired Shopbop and Zappos in 2009. Nine years later, Amazon Fashion launched in 2018, accounting for $30 billion of the fashion industry’s $390 billion in the US market, surpassing Target and Walmart for the leading spot in online fashion.  Sergio Hudson Collection 10 — Image by Iker Aldama It’s a genius strategy to be a one-stop marketplace for all our favorite brands and styles. Instead of numerous pages on Google Chrome to do your shopping, Amazon holds almost every brand you can think of, from Nike to Calvin Klein, and reportedly plans on expanding to feature 12 luxury labels, possibly from the LVMH mega-corp. Currently, under their Luxury Stores vertical launched in 2020, Amazon is offering “pre-loved” items, including Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Chanel from the third-party resell brand What Goes Around Comes Around, as well as in season Sergio Hudson and Theophilio.  Courtesy of Theophilo Christian Cody Although you can shop for established brands, it’s the emerging ones that are currently getting a lot of traction. Most of the clothes we see on influencers are trendy pieces that have better quality than Shein, Pretty Little Thing, or Fashion Nova, cheaper dupes of the pricey real thing, and athleisure/loungewear gear. A few pieces getting a lot of attention are the “BBL Jacket”’ $16 compared to Lulumelon’s $118, the parachute pants $18 compared to Jaded London’s $93, and of course, the slim maxi dress, $11 compared to Skim’s $78. Thanks to the Amazon Storefront feature, it’s made it easier to bridge the gap from influencer to consumer to purchase the exact garment shown in TikTok without having to search through pages of products. Each item is shipped from nameless brands, similar to the Aliexpress model, yet, have issued a takeover to our wardrobe. So far, and shockingly, Amazon Fashion holds the number one spot as the most purchased category.  Earlier this year, the mega-conglomerate opened its first brick-and-mortar at The Americana at Brand Ball in Los Angeles, California, and recently Columbus, Ohio. Amazon Style follows its three grocery stores, Amazon Go, Amazon Fresh, and Whole Foods, as its fourth physical market. The retail does offer brands like Levi’s and Steve Madden, and it’s a traditional tech-savvy shopping experience with customers using QR codes as a virtual cart while employees gather apparel to try on on check out and can pay with a physical card or online account.  Also if you factor in Amazon’s investment in fostering the next global design talent through its reality competition series, Making The Cut, and the Making The Cut store, Amazon is determined to hold space in the fashion online marketplace sector. With an influx of brands and physical locations joining the market’s strategy, it’s safe to say they’ll play a big part in the way we see fashion in the future.  from https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/according-to-tiktok-amazon-is-officially-the-it-girl-of-retail-essence/

This Crypto Has Just Signed An Affiliate Deal With Amazon Huge Pump Incoming? Cryptonews
IMPT is a brand new cryptocurrency project that is focused on revolutionizing the space of carbon credits, seeking to put them on-chain in an attempt to dramatically improve the efficiency and transparency of the industry, and to incentivize their users to “shop responsibly”. IMPT shopping platform now boasts over 25,000 partners, including Amazon The team at IMPT has been extremely busy over the past few weeks, having dramatically enhanced their product offering through their affiliate partnership program with over 25,000 different brands being added to their shopping platform.  These brands include some of the largest companies in the world, such as Amazon, Microsoft, Gamestop, River Island, and more.  The ESG industry continues to explode  The ESG industry has been dramatically expanding over the past few years and is expected to continue to grow in the months and years to come.  Broadridge Financial Solutions has predicted that by the year 2030, the total market capitalization of the ESG industry will have come to exceed $30 trillion, and the industry of carbon credits is expected to grow to in excess of $50 billion.  However, much of the current ways in which the carbon credit market currently operates are based on incentivizing companies to pollute less, rather than individuals: companies must purchase carbon credits if they wish to pollute, and with fewer carbon credits issued each year, it becomes gradually more expensive for companies to pollute – this is one of the tools that Western governments are using to reach their 2030 “net zero” targets.  Socially responsible shopping  IMPT hopes to change all of this and to find new ways to incentivize both individuals to pollute less as well as companies. Their “socially responsible shopping” system means that users of their platform are rewarded with IMPT cashback rewards when shopping through their platform with companies that score highly on ESG metrics. from https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/this-crypto-has-just-signed-an-affiliate-deal-with-amazon-huge-pump-incoming-cryptonews/

U.S. Reveals Ballistic Missile Submarines Presence In Persian Gulf NBC News
Oct. 20, 2022, 11:00 AM UTC By Courtney Kube and Chantal Da Silva The U.S. military made an unusual disclosure Wednesday, revealing the presence of one of its submerged nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine in the Persian Gulf in a move likely to make waves across the region. The U.S. Central Command released photos showing CENTCOM Commander General Michael “Erik” Kurilla onboard the submarine, in a rare decision to reveal the vessel’s location. It is extremely rare for the U.S. military to acknowledge where their ballistic missile subs are operating, particularly when they are stationed near an adversary’s shores. In a statement Kurilla praised the submarine and its crew, calling submarines like it “the crown jewel of the nuclear triad.”   “The West Virginia demonstrates the flexibility, survivability, readiness, and capability of USCENTCOM and USSTRATCOM forces at sea,” he said. The USS West Virginia at an undisclosed location in international waters in the Arabian Sea.U.S. Central Command / Twitter Kurilla’s visit may be seen as sending a message to U.S. adversaries in the region, including Iran, of Washington’s capabilities, including submarines that can carry up to 20 submarine-launched ballistic missiles with multiple warheads.  A defense official said Kurilla’s visit was not a response to any recent event or provocation, but is more a signal after months of mounting tensions, which have seen attacks against locations housing U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria. In June, U.S. officials said attacks by Iranian proxies against bases housing U.S. military personnel in Iraq and Syria were increasing, while Washington had not responded with force since 2021.  Iran has not appeared to publicly comment on Wednesday’s submarine visit. The submarine visit also comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened to use nuclear weapons amid Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, with Iran becoming more involved in the war, including supplying drones Russia has used to strike targets in Ukraine. Kurilla’s trip to the submarine included a helicopter ride to a large ship, a ride to a smaller boat, then crossing a rope bridge to step onto the submarine, a U.S. military official said. He also visited with the head of Naval Forces in the region, Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, they said. Courtney Kube is a correspondent covering national security and the military for the NBC News Investigative Unit. Augmented Reality Technology Could Help First Responders In Real-World Emergencies WGHP FOX8 Greensboro
GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) – Some developers believe augmented reality is the future for first responders.  It’s a digital technology that people could wear to help in real-world emergencies when seconds matter. “It not only makes sense, but it can be a game changer,” said Dr. Regis Kopper, assistant professor of computer science at UNC Greensboro. Kopper is developing a prototype device that will send vital information directly to emergency workers. It could be mounted on a firefighter’s helmet or strapped to a police officer’s arm. “Virtual reality is ready and is already able to show benefit for training,” Kopper said.  In the meantime, Kopper uses a lightweight headset, armband and two hand controllers for a virtual reality computer program replicating emergency simulations. It trains first responders and showcases a response using augmented reality.  “In training situations, it’s to create scenarios that mimic real-life situations that might not be common or might be expensive to simulate,” he said. Situations like an unpredictable traffic stop, complex medical call or explosive house fire.  Once the headset is on the user’s head, the emergency begins. “We’re not interacting with a game controller,” Kopper said. “We’re interacting with our whole body as we would in real life.”  Kopper is developing a device to bring the technology to real life for emergency calls.  “Augmented reality is getting there, but is not quite there yet,” he said.   Instead of a completely computer-generated world, first responders would see a combination of both through their eyes.  “You have lenses that you can see through, but they have technology that can render images onto those lenses and render images at different perceived depths,” Kopper said. It’s a way for emergency workers to get real-time information within an eyeshot.    “Instead of displaying to a handheld device it would display directly into their helmet mounted display,” he said. In this instance, police officers could pull warrants instantly, firefighters could sense the intensity of a blaze, and paramedics could review a patient’s vitals on command.   Kopper said it’s an invention to improve efficiency, make precise decisions, and respond quickly to the unexpected.   “We can increase their focus on the task that might be putting the first responder’s life at risk,” Kopper said.  A nearly $2 million dollar grant will be used to help develop the technology. Kopper told FOX8 it’s less than a decade away from existence.  Kopper is working with UNCG Police, Greensboro Police and law enforcement agencies in the Triangle.  He mentioned virtual reality is not a replacement for traditional training for first responders.  from https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/augmented-reality-technology-could-help-first-responders-in-real-world-emergencies-wghp-fox8-greensboro/

Voyager Customers Could Recover 72% Of Frozen Crypto Under FTX Deal Cointelegraph
The plan is tentative at this stage and won’t be finalized until it receives approval from Voyager’s creditors and the bankruptcy payout plan is approved by the judge. 622 Total views 6 Total shares Customers of bankrupt crypto lender Voyager Digital may be able to recover 72% of the value of their accounts under a tentative deal with FTX US, according to court documents.  However, United States bankruptcy judge Michael Wiles during a court hearing said the tentative sale would not be final until it receives the approval of Voyager’s creditors and he approves the bankruptcy payout plan, saying during the court hearing: “If the plan falls apart, there’s no part of this agreement that survives.” There is also the inclusion of a clause called a “fiduciary out,” which allows Voyager to cancel the deal with FTX should any offers be presented that offer a better outcome for creditors.  The clause is often included in bankruptcy cases, allowing companies to consider higher offers until the sale is finalized to ensure creditors get the best deal possible. Voyager had previously hinted that its customers may eventually transition to the FTX platform after the exchange had secured the winning bid on Sept. 27 at a valuation of approximately $1.4 billion following a two-week bidding process. The tentative plan from FTX would enable all priority claims to be paid out in full and allow other account holders to recover approximately 72% of the value of their accounts, which have been frozen since July 1. Related: Voyager Digital won’t sue its executives for incompetence, will claim insurance on them The figure doesn’t include funds it may recoup as part of its claim against Three Arrows Capital (3AC) after the crypto hedge fund had defaulted on its loan repayments to Voyager. Any additional funds received as part of this claim will allow Voyager account holders to recover a greater percentage of their frozen accounts. Voyager had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on July 4 due to liquidity issues following the default of crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital. Voyager said the bid from FTX US was made up of the fair market value of its crypto holdings as of a to-be-determined date, which as of Sept. 26 is estimated at $1.3 billion, as well as additional consideration of at least $111 million. from https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/voyager-customers-could-recover-72-of-frozen-crypto-under-ftx-deal-cointelegraph/

BESI Sees Q4 Revenue Drop Warns U.S. Export Curbs Add Uncertainty Reuters
Co joins chorus of other chip companies giving downbeat outlook CEO says market deteriorated during Q3 Co assessing impact of U.S. export curbs Oct 20 (Reuters) – BE Semiconductor (BESI) (BESI.AS) forecast on Thursday a fall in quarterly revenue, as the chipmaking equipment supplier warned that U.S. curbs on exports to China added more uncertainty to the industry outlook. The Dutch firm is the latest semiconductor company to give downbeat guidance amid growing concerns about weakening consumer demand for electronic devices. The maker of semiconductor assembly and packaging equipment said it was evaluating whether its products would be subject to the sweeping new U.S. restrictions on exporting semiconductors to China announced earlier this month. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Peer ASML (ASML.AS) said on Wednesday it expected limited impact on its business as its products and most of their parts are made in Europe. However, indirect effects could still lead to its Chinese customers cutting orders. BESI, which supplies STMicroelectronics and Infineon Technologies (IFXGn.DE), said it expected fourth-quarter revenue to drop 15% to 25% quarter-on-quarter. The forecast came as the company reported third-quarter orders fell 18.2% to 125.3 million euros ($122.7 million) from the prior quarter, as demand for high performance computing applications and Asian subcontractors weakened. These were also lower compared to 2021 due to broad-based market decline, particularly in computing applications, it said. Analysts said the order drop and outlook pressured shares which fell more than 2% in early trade. They were 0.3% lower at 0745 GMT. “The outlook for the assembly equipment market has turned more negative during the quarter as industry conditions weakened, global GDP growth rates decelerated and customer caution increased,” Chief Executive Officer Richard Blickman said in a statement. He added for now it appears to be a traditional industry downturn marked by overcapacity and order delays. The group reported revenue of 168.8 million euros, a 21.1% decrease from the previous quarter, at the high end of the range forecast in July. Candidate Essay: Hamilton Stresses Individual Rights In State House 57 Race Denton Record Chronicle
I am Darren Hamilton, and I am running for election in the newly drawn District 57 serving central and western Denton County. I am a Marine veteran and autistic, having been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome about 20 years ago, so autism advocacy is a particular interest to me along with bringing awareness to other, more common mental health conditions like depression and anxiety, especially as they relate to veterans like myself. The idea that appeals most to me about being a candidate for this office is treating the people that I meet as individuals, not as part of some name-specific collective or as pawns in some obscure political game. Libertarians aren’t going to spoon-feed the issues to you, and then tell you that our candidates are your best option to address those issues. We WANT you to decide for yourself what matters most to you and your family, but we also want you to decide for yourself what DOESN’T matter to you. That said, there are a few distinct topics that I believe are of particular interest to the people who live in and around District 57: DARREN HAMILTON is seeking election to the State Representative, District 57, seat on the Libertarian ticket in the Nov. 8 general election. His opponent is Republican Richard Hayes. from https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/candidate-essay-hamilton-stresses-individual-rights-in-state-house-57-race-denton-record-chronicle/

Long Court Vacations relic Of Colonial Era Violate Litigants Rights Says Plea In Bombay High Court The Indian Express
A writ petition has been moved by one Sabina Lakdawala in the Bombay High Court claiming that the courts taking vacations, including during Diwali, is a violation of the fundamental rights of citizens as the litigants’ right to avail justice is affected by such long vacations. Lakdawala, in her plea filed through advocate Mathews Nedumpara, sought a declaration that closing courts for more than 70 days for any kind of vacation is a violation of the fundamental rights of litigants and the same should come to an end. The plea sought that the high court is kept fully functional during the upcoming Diwali vacation, an adequate number of judges be made available to hear all the cases, and not just urgent cases heard by vacation benches, and that directions be issued to the high court registry to receive all petitions without insisting on permission from the vacation bench. Lakdawala claimed that the court had failed to hear her private plea despite several requests for an urgent hearing and the same was because of the paucity of time due to high pendency and long court holidays contributed to the same. “The long vacations that are a relic of the colonial era have to a greater extent contributed to the further collapse of the justice delivery system that is already on ventilation. The long vacation suits the convenience of elite lawyers, a microscopic minority,” the petition said. The plea is likely to be mentioned on Thursday. “Court vacation, a relic of our colonial past, was justified at a time when the majority of the judges were Englishmen, who were not adjusted to the extreme summers of India, and they needed long vacations to travel by sea to England. It was a necessity then, today, it is a luxury that the country can ill afford,” the petition argued. Lakdawala said while the judges and lawyers need breaks, keeping the same limited to weekends and gazetted holidays will serve the purpose. from https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/long-court-vacations-relic-of-colonial-era-violate-litigants-rights-says-plea-in-bombay-high-court-the-indian-express/

What Are Wellness Benefits In Health Insurance? Outlook India
Wellness benefits in health insurance come in the form of wellness points that can be encashed either as concessions on premium payments or in the form of membership benefits at any empaneled organization. These wellness-oriented health insurance policies target making individuals proactive towards healthy living.  According to recent IRDAI guidelines on wellness and preventive features, the insurers are asked to incentivize the insured who is eligible for the reward points and fits well with the wellness criteria.  Several software and tools are available today to track a person’s health. However, given the busy schedule and the stress, it sometimes becomes challenging to do that. So it is when wellness benefits come to use as this ensures optimum utilization as policyholders are encouraged to take their health seriously in return for rewards and benefits.  Explains Rakesh Goyal, director of Probus Insurance Broker: “Health insurers include different wellness benefits under their health insurance plans to stand out from other insurers and encourage the policyholders to choose a healthy lifestyle. Such wellness benefits are added to increase the market competition and, at the same time, drive the customers’ needs. The wellness benefits  under the health plan come in the form of points, also known as wellness points or reward points.” Here are some of the wellness benefits in health insurance offered by the insurers:  Reward points to promote a healthy lifestyle: You could use these rewards to avail discounts for different medical tests and check-ups at all diagnostic centers and network hospitals. Moreover, you could redeem the points to avail of membership at a lower rate at various wellness centers like yoga institutes, gyms, etc.  A personal wellness coach: Many insurers provide a wellness coach or mentor under the wellness program. “The coach mentors the insured person on his dietary intake, exercise routine, nutrition balance, quitting smoking habits, maintaining a good BMI index, and much more. The coach sets targets to be achieved. On achieving the targets, the insured gets redeemable points as above,” says Bhaskar Nerurkar, head of the health administration team at Bajaj Allianz General Insurance.  Second medical opinion: Certain health plans come with the benefit of providing a second medical opinion wellness benefit. “Under this feature, in case of any chronic or severe medical concern, the insured can seek a second medical opinion. This second opinion is not chargeable for the insured. But one needs to clearly understand that no insurance company is responsible for any error arising in the medical opinion,” adds Nerurkar.  Exciting concessions on renewal: The availability of exciting concessions on wellness benefit plans encourages the insured to keep track of his healthy living. Moreover, these wellness benefits are available without paying anything extra to the insurance company. Also, there is no need to enroll yourself separately in the wellness program plan. Instead, the insured gets enrolled from the day he or his family gets insured under the family health insurance or individual.  However, all these benefits highly depend on the choice of insurer, as it varies from one insurer to another. “It is highly suggested to read all the information and policy documents well in advance to avoid any unpleasant surprises later,” adds Goyal.   from https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/what-are-wellness-benefits-in-health-insurance-outlook-india/
