And unfortunately no, the man isn't gonna be seen again 😢 Honestly Rick's life is full of so many chance encounters that end up changing him as a person. He moves around so much and meets so many people that things like this come and go. Poor guy tho just thought he was cute, like what is your problem 😒😒

After reading your response to a previous ask, I thought I'd give my two cents on that topic:
I LOVE the diverse interpretations of the canon robot characters within the Portal fandom - not just design-wise, but also in terms of their personality.
While I personally don't mind more comical character interpretations of these characters (and at times, those ones can be pretty memorable and entertaining), I also enjoy interpretations that are more complex and grounded in the 'experiences and struggles of being human'.
As in, interpreting characters who seem to be grounded in reality. Characters who may feel like people that are capable of flaws, capable of struggles, and capable of growth.
I sincerely hope this wording made sense, since I have a habit of rambling.
(Note: For anyone else reading this, please know that I'm NOT saying that one kind of interpretation is better than the other. Plus, you can also have an interpretation that exists in between the comical and the more grounded interpretations.)

Ik the fandom is small for this kind of portal content, but I'm glad that its reaching a few people who are seeing my vision for what I want it to be :) I absolutely love fleshing out characters in the real world like this and making them more like actual people, so I'm glad thats coming across well 👹👹

RICK PORTAL 2 BACKSTORY TIME !!! Literally have been sitting on all of this for years and its only ever been told to my two friends 👹 so excited to finally have all of it down.
Nothing graphic, but do be warned that it does deal with very dark topics 💥
Rick grew up DEEP in the rural south in a small little religious town. His family was very poor and had upwards of 5 children. His father was very physically and mentally abusive, and his mother was very neglectful and quiet. He was never close with any of his siblings, and his brothers didn't do much more than add to his problems.
He started drinking and smoking from about the age of 10, as most boys did in their town. They would all meet up in groups and share goods they stole from their parents and from corner stores.
Through everything, the only real comfort he had was movies--westerns and action flicks. They were too poor to own a TV, so he would sneak into movie theaters and drive-ins. It was a big inspiration for the person he wanted to be when he grew up and served as a good mental escape. He wanted to eventually leave this town and travel the world with nothing but the clothes on his back and a dream.
The only real friend he had through it all was Teddy. Rick was a troubled kid and could be a bit mean due to his upbringing, but Teddy was the one person he was always nice to. Something about him made him soft. They were best friends since they were toddlers and while other people came and went, those two always stuck together and stayed close.
Somewhere along the way, their relationship ended up becoming romantic. They were so young that the whole thing was confusing, but they knew well enough to keep it a secret from everyone else. Rick knew that something was deeply wrong with it and it always ate up at him inside and made him ashamed, but Teddy didn't have a care in the world. Rick made him happy and that was all that mattered.
Then when Rick turned 16, he decided that he'd had enough with school and church and his parents. He was ready to leave it all behind--but he wasn't going to bring Teddy. Teddy had a sister he was really close with, and more friends than Rick had. He had more to lose and Rick didn't want him uprooting his whole entire life for him.
So Rick broke things off with Teddy and told him never to tell another soul what had happened between them and to forget the whole thing, forget Rick. Then he jumped onto a boxcar train and left town.
He was homeless for a good bit, but managed to get a small job that gave him enough money to save up for an old, broken down truck that he lived out of. He never stayed in one place too long, hopping around and getting jobs here and there, stealing off of folks in town to get enough for food.
Rick had a hard, but very adventurous and rewarding few years out on the road, but at the end of it all, he couldn't find anyone even close to Teddy. It wasn't the same without him around and Rick decided that maybe it was worth a shot going back and seeing if somehow Teddy was still in the town they grew up in.
Rick drove back, now a full grown adult, hoping there was a way that he'd still want to talk to him again. But when he got back to town and asked around, it turned out that Teddy wasn't as great at keeping the secret as he hoped.
Teddy had tried to flirt with a man at a bar, and he didn't take too kind to it. His friends dragged Teddy outside and beat him to death, where his family found his body a few days later. By the time Rick got back to town, Teddy was long buried in a small marked grave.
It really fucked with Rick's head. After that, he buried everything that happened between them deeeep deep down and honestly just convinced himself it never happened. They were kids and they didn't know what they were doing.
After that, Rick went a lot harder on traveling around with the intent of meeting people to have one night stands with in maybe some hopes of further cementing the fact that he only liked women.
He already had a problem with drinking before, but it got worse and worse as years went on. Most of his money went straight back into drinks. He couldn't keep any sort of job for more than a few days because he was constantly day drinking, showing up wasted.
It was a great big blur for a lot of years of sleeping with women, getting fucked up on drugs, driving drunk, waking up places he didn't remember. He got into a lot of fights, most of which he started himself (definitely didn't have a weird thing where he liked fighting because it was the only time he got to touch a man.... cus that would be WEIRD ASF 🗣🗣🗣 AND MAKE HIM A FREAK.) All the while he was living out of the same truck he'd gotten at 16 which constantly needed repairs. He hardly had enough money for gas, so he usually had to siphon it from other cars. Times were ROUGH
Then one day, he met a very nice, charming man at a bar. They hit it off right away, spent the whole night talking and drinking and dancing. It felt so nice and familiar in a way that Rick couldn't place, until at one point the man tried to make an advance on him. A deep, primal panic rose inside him and Rick immediately got LIVID, punching the guy right in the face and cussing him out in the middle of the bar, calling him names and slurs before leaving once the bartender told him to.
Rick felt a deep emptiness and strange longing that he hadn't felt since he was a little kid. He thought about it for days--more than anything the fact how much he really, really did want to go home with that man.
That was when he decided that he couldn't do this anymore. He was getting too old to be living out of his truck. He hadn't had a real home since he was a kid, and that mixed with all of the drugs and high stakes adventures and fights, he was going to drive himself into an early grave.
It was time that he got an actual job, and an actual home. And maybe that would help distract him from thinking too much about that nice man at the bar.
After driving around and searching, eventually he ended up at Aperture. Nice easy desk job, impossible to get fired from, and hours and hours of overtime. He luckily ended up landing a cheap apartment because he was able to seduce the owner of the building into a lower rate and flexible payments.
Rick still had a hard time with showing up to work drunk and slacking off, but at the very least he had a roof over his head.

hey uh sorry if my tags on your Wheatley post made you uncomfortable or anything like that. Misogynist Wheatley stuff makes me uncomfortable (as he is my comfort character) but I also really like your AU + art and I couldn't find a way to put that into words
NO YOURE GOOD DUDE HAHA I mostly just felt bad 😭😭😭 I personally just really hate that so many people baby the cores and wanted to make them more like real people with real flaws. I don't see anyone working at Aperture being a very good person, considering the type of company it is. They are all succchhhh important comfort characters to me, but I just love writing angst and drama 😔 and the more I love the character, the more I will torture them.
I appreciate if you do like it, but I'd just be warned that all of my other cores stories will be around the same caliber, so apologies if that shatters any of your views of them 💀 i just love making characters fucked up cus its more interesting to me personally. They're all pretty morally grey people in this AU--YES, even Space 💔 but I promise that they're not all evil or anything. Just human 😢

Alright, here we fucking go 🗣 starting off with the Wheatley backstory infodump. I'll do each core individually first and then explain all their relationships at Aperture after 😁
Growing up, Wheatley lived in a SMALLL small town somewhere smackdab in the depths of England. The population was only a few hundred, so he only knew a handful of people his whole life. There weren't too many options of who to choose to know and be friends with. His home life was pretty unremarkable--Christain parents who weren't too religious, went to church on Sundays. Put Wheatley through Sunday school. He got decent grades, parents loved him well enough, if just a tad neglectful, but nothing awful.
He was freakishly tall from the start, very lanky and scrawny. Knowing so few people and not having a lot of friends, he ended up fairly sheltered. He never knew a lot of conflict or struggle, though people did pick on him for being stranger than most.
As he got older, he tried reallyyy hard to follow trends and be stylish. He wanted to date, but it was hard when there were so few girls in town and everyone knew each other basically since birth. With his upbringing, he was a bit of an asshole 😭 pretty misogynistic and sexist and entitled. Overall he was just a pretty big loser, and not a very nice one at that.
Finally near the end of highschool, he became friends a girl named Millie. She had a really hard time making friends too, and ended up getting close with Wheatley more so just due to lack of options and loneliness. Wheatley wasn't interested in her romantically because he insisted he could do better, and joked about this pretty vocally to her--things about her boring personality and her weight. Despite his attitude, they stayed best friends even after school ended.
Despite Wheatley being very insistent he would never get with her, as they matured, she got in a lot better shape and became a lot more social. She blended in better with crowds and made a lot more friends, looking and feeling a lot happier. Wheatley, despite trying 5 times as hard, could never do the same. He stayed with her still as his only real friend, though she didn't invite him out much because he made people uncomfortable.
Somewhere along the way in Wheatley's mind, he convinced himself that him and Millie were actually already sort of dating and acted as such even though she clearly wasn't interested and they never properly talked about it.
Then one day, she finally landed herself an actual boyfriend and Wheatley BLEWWW up at her. They got in a huge fight and Wheatley called her all sorts of horrible things, told her how she'd led him on for years and dragged him along and this was all her fault and she was an awful person--and Wheatley wholeheartedly believed every word.
It was after then that he decided he needed to start completely over if he wanted to get anywhere. He was going to move to ✨America✨, land of dreams and American Women. And American women LOVED a man with an accent.
It wasn't a year later that he left everyone he knew behind and fled the country. He could hardly hold a job back home, only managing to stay at where he was because his mother knew the manager. In America, it was no easy feat. He was constantly getting fired for being generally unlikable and being bad at most things. On top of that, it was even harder to blend in with people over here. No one wanted to talk to him for more than a few days, and he was more lonely than ever. Unfortunately, he didn't have the money to fly back home even if he wanted to. He was stranded here and forced to make the best of it.
Eventually, he decided that it was kind of over. He was just about to hit 40 and was VERY well still a virgin and hadn't even ever properly dated anyone, if anything was going to happen it would've happened already. Not to mention he couldn't even land a decent friend. Trying so hard to fit in was getting exhausting. He needed to just buckle down and get a job and swear off women for the rest of his life if he wanted to get anywhere. Ultimate incel grindset arc 😑😑
That's when he landed his job at Aperture. It was nearly impossible to get fired from and had more than enough hours. He started dressing like himself, stopped shaving, stopped trying so hard to find anyone to bring into his life. Though deep down, he still has a deep, carnal desire to be liked and known by someone.

Just read your new post and, as someone who's also deep in a Portal brainrot (with both my own AU and others' AUs), I can definitely relate to that!
But in all seriousness, as I've said before, your Portal AU is brilliant and easily one of my top favourites (bonus points for featuring one of my favourite interpretations of Rick/Adventure Core).
In short, I'm definitely hyped for more stuff soon... :D
AWH THANK YOU SO MUCH !! :]] AUs are just always way more fun to me than making totally original stories 😢 I think especially because world building is hard for me, so i prefer to work in one thats already set up for me so I can focus on just the characters.

HELLO !!! I've been very focused on SpongeBob rn cus that fixation came super out of left field 😭 BUT !! I realized that so much of my Factventure/Rickley story is only really in my head and I've never put it down anywhere so there's a lot of blanks to everyone on here 💀 SO! I'm planning on making a huge masterpost soon with a bunch of infodumping and pictures to go along with it explaining all of their backstories and relationships. I'll probably split each character up so its less confusing and long HAHA we'll see what happens though. I'm excited cus its been in my head for years now and it'll be nice to fully explain everything and clear some stuff up 👹👹
Honestly at this point too, they're half ocs half the canon characters 💀 i realize it's suppperrrr super far from canon, but I'm still choosing rn not to separate it bc even though a lot of it is pre-canon, i like where everything ends up during and after canon as well. Maybe one day I'll finally do it, but I just love everything with Aperture too much atm 💔💔

Seriously, can't artists make their OWN designs of characters without getting backlash? Everybody has there own portreal of non human characters, and they need to respect the designs. Tbh, I absolutely love your human designs on Spongebob characters!

The state of the internet is just so bad right now, its sadly so normal for people to hate when human designs aren't super hot and young and white ☹ the yassification of designs in general has been so awful, I feel like so many big creators don't even put thought into character design a lot of the time and more worry about what kind of design will do numbers on tiktok and attract simpers. so when people actually try to make them different and unique, people get mad 💀💀 hopefully it gets better soon cus its been super depressing to see.

In case you all are wondering how bad of a state tiktok is in right now. I've had to delete upwards of 400 comments of the same caliber on my human spongebob post. I cannot believe how mad people are over a FUCKING SPONGE being portrayed as black. And this happens every single fucking time a creator makes human designs. And all of the super yassified white designs get 1000000x more likes. Honestly Tumblr is the only place I feel fully comfortable posting anymore, its getting fucking insane.
