imagine hugging xiao for the first time.
he's all but frozen in place, unsure how to act as your arms gently encircle him. he can't deny that it feels... nice, and he's loathe to pry your arms away from him.
so for a moment he's stiff, back straighter than his polearm and face more stoic than his mask. you look up at him, your head tipped adorably to the side as you ask him if something's wrong.
he blinks down at you, trying to look cross with you as he moves (reluctantly) to pull away from you.
but you only pull him closer, and his grumbles die on his tongue.
"can't i hug you, just this once?" your voice is soft; a plea for him to stay that he hears, despite it never appearing in your words.
something in his heart melts, and it feels as though his heart can beat again.
his hand rests gently on your head, his arm slowly circling around you.
and, with a gentleness he thought himself incapable of, he whispers to you:
"...fine. you may."
