I completely agree. The mainline games don't have this level of expression and could really take notes from it. And I really do think these games could've been great with some extra tweaks to the game play, the writing, and few instances of animation.🤔

A bit of a hot take??? I really hope future Sonic games start looking at Sonic Boom for character animation references. And no, I don't mean the show.
I think we're at a point when we can look past all the bugs and glitches this game had at release (if you'd had the opportunity to play it recently you'd see that, while there's still bugs, they barely affect the gameplay anymore, which is a HUGE step from when it was first released), and look at the art in it. While there's a lot I love about Sonic Boom aesthetically, I want to focus on the characters animation, especially in cutscenes.
I'm not exaggerating when I say I think this game has better facial animation than any other Sonic game, and while Sonic Frontiers was a step in the right direction, I don't think it compares to Sonic Boom and I do mean that in all honesty.
Here I put together just a FEW examples of how expressive the characters are in this game:
LOOK AT HOW EXPRESSIVE THEY ALL ARE! HOW NATURALLY THEIR BODIES MOVE WITH THEIR ACTIONS! HOW THEY INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING AT ALL! HOW WE CAN SEE THEIR THOUGHT PROCESS HAPPENING IN THEIR HEAD!! THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO SEE IN FUTURE SONIC GAMES!!!
This is truly the best I've seen of these characters in games!!! And I really hope we can move in this direction from here!! I just love how much personality they have in this game, not only in their dialogue, but also represented by their body language. Like I said, Sonic Frontiers was a good step towards this, but I would really like if we stopped focusing on just the bugs this game has, and paid attention to some of the great decisions the developers made! There's so much to be rescued from this almost completely ignored game, and I would love to go back to this style of animation in the future.
Also I love the vibes of this universe and the character designs because they all look so different from each other and there's more diversity in the body types and all but that's not the point of this post NSKZNSNXNSMX

So I'm in the process of writing some Voltron one-shots and need some opinions. The concept is that the paladins are all alien/human hybrids but I'm debating on what to do with Keira in terms of the story. Also, it's a female Keith au too.
I already have the rest of the paladins mostly planned out but Keira's giving me trouble.

'06 is a game that was put out much too early. From the glitches certain story beats, a lot needed ironing out. But it also got a lot right. Shadow being a primary example for the reasons above. The writers for him understood his character. And here's hoping we see this version of his character in future games, 'Cause I'm tired of the all broody and angry "edgy the hedgy".
Playing Sonic 06, and there's no indication Shadow is actually a GUN agent, he's just helping out because an agent, being Rouge, has gone missing. Shadow has nothing better to do, so does.
Shadow isn't heartless either. More misconceptions than you can throw at a bus.
Saves Rouge:
Shows fear at this sight of Mephiles:
Tries to reboot Omega:
Shadow's at the front ready to take Iblis Phase 2. "But why isn't Sonic?" Two reasons. One, why should he? And second, one power house at the front and back.
Saves Sonic's life:
Realises Silver has been tricked and decides to show the kid what truly happened 10 years ago:
Checks to see if the Duke is alive:
Appreciates that Rouge will always be by his side:
I haven't got the footage yet, but he's touched by Sonic's death.
A classic case of misunderstood characterisation. Shadow is so vulnerable and (for me) relatable. But he portrays this cold facade to ward any friends or foes away. This character is locked in his mind. Like Sonic is. But where these two differ from each other is Sonic portrays a positive visage, Shadow hides away from the crowd. There's so much potential for Shadow... and it's lost with incompetent writers.

Completely agree. I saw the movie in theaters for my birthday but the more I thought about it afterward, the more it didn't make sense. If the dragon's went to the Hidden World, the cannibalistic dragons would wipe out the other dragons over the course of however long it takes. Plus there are dragons actively helping others such as the Defenders of the Wing and Wing Maidens. Speaking of which, where were Berks allies? That's what I want to know. The Outcasts, the Berserkers, and the two mentioned earlier; WHERE ARE THEY. If they had at least mentioned them I wouldn't be so mad but they didn't. Another change they did to the detriment of the movie.
Speaking of detriment;
The base theme for the series is two warring factions coming together and becoming stronger because of it. But with how the third movie went, it only proved the villain right!
And do not get me started on the character writing and designs. Characters seemed to act familiarly enough on the surface, but those that know and love the characters had no doubt already noticed the changes in the few minutes they were on screen; Snot flirting with Valka (gross), Tuff making fun of Hiccup (which wasn't funny at all), Ruff acting more like a stereotypical blonde (she typically the more sensible one between the two. Most of the time), Fish and Eret didn't do much in the movie aside from Eret telling Hiccup about Grimmel. And Toothless, he acted more like a slobering dog (and I love dogs, don't get me wrong) than an intelligent creature with cat-esque traits. And the designs. Why did they take away their imperfections? Hiccup doesn't have his gape teeth, some of the scars he had, heck he doesn't even have noticeable freckles anymore.
As for the Light Fury. If I remember right, out of the 1 hour and 44 minute movie, she only had around 15 minutes of screen time... what was the point. I'd really like to see a full rewrite of the movie that gives this series a proper ending, because the movie and Nine Realms certainly didn't.
Sorry for the rant but I really needed it out of my system.😅
I’m going to say it.
I don’t think How to Train Your Dragon 3 was good.
Not when you compare it to literally either of the other movies. Certainly not as a conclusion.
I mean, the first movie was about a boy who manages to understand a hostile dragon species and bring peace to two warring factions, which is a parallel for his relationship with his father. The second film was about how sometimes, peace has to be fought for, and Hiccup’s whole identity was in contrast with that—because while his mother ran from conflict and his father leapt at it too eagerly, he had always been the one to stop the fighting. Then he has to learn that the things we love are worth protecting.
And after he learns that humans and dragons can learn to understand each other and coexist—after he learns that it isn’t enough to run and hide or fight out of fear, but instead you must protect the things you care about—
After those two natural, powerful progressions are clearly worked for in the first two movies—
How to Train Your Dragon 3 comes along and says “‘No actually, sometimes all it takes is one madman whom you defeated with no loss of life to convince you that the things you care about should just crawl into a very pretty hiding hole, because you don’t feel like spending the rest of your life fighting for them.”

always happy about the fact that in 2012, mikey often asked donnie questions if he didn't understand something and donnie always answered no matter what
this can be seen in a bunch of episodes but my favorite example of it it's the one in half shell heroes where mikey is extremely excited to be in the museums and is the one actively asking donnie questions about the exhibits they saw and also actively listening to donnie's explanation (before raph got silly lmao). he was very excited to learn!!!
And while it's true that mikey would lose interest quite fast if the explanation got too lengthy with too many technical terms, it doesn't change the fact that he does retain the info donnie is always rambling on about different things!!! (even if mikey himself doesn't notice he's doing it lol) and also i find it very sweet that no matter if donnie himself got annoyed, donnie would always answer the questions. no matter what. he would always try to explain if he didn't understand something
This is prob because mikey is the one brother who is often seeking out donnie to pass time around him Meaning that donnie might have used mikey as his rubber ducky whenever mikey hangs out with him while he's working (explained him a lot of his experiments and theories while trying to solve them himself and in this way mikey also learnt in the process WHILE spending time with his brother! win win!)
it also helps donnie because accompanies him while not letting him get lonely in his lab 24/7, sometimes explaining things to someone makes it better to understand it yourself AND it's shown in the comics that donnie is quite used to his brothers just Living as background noise and literally cannot function without it lmao
They are literally the two smart kids in the family even if none of them notice it and it's all because mikey looks up to his brother and is like an sponge with donnie around. donnie is actively teaching mikey and mikey is learning! even if they have no idea they are doing it

Various pieces of information from the Rise Q&A back in July
1. When asked how the Turtles got their names in Rise it was said that back when Splinter was Lou Jitsu he travelled the world & developed a love for the Italian Renaissance & it’s art
This might have possibly been hinted at in the show as during the episode Al Be Back, Splinter was shown singing opera when trying to convince his sons to let him join their band.
2. Big Mama’s Assistant was stated to be one of the Turtle’s missing siblings & there were plans to name her after a female artist with Frida Kahlo possibly being the artist Big Mama’s Assistant would have been named after
The Turtles were supposed to figure out that Big Mama’s Assistant was related to them after various encounters with Big Mama, her personality is said to be ‘so disciplined & serious to the point where it is funny’.
3. The Turtles had always had the potential for mystic powers & the mystic weapons that they took from Draxum acted as a catalyst & conduit to activating them
The Turtles are said to have had their mystic abilities inherently but needed something to help unlock them.
4. When asked about Mayhem it was admitted that Mayhem’s teleport ability was tricky to use due to easily being able to get the Turtles out of any serious situation
However it was stated that it could of been fun to see Mayhem go on seperate adventures similar to Perry the platypus in Phineas & Ferb.
5. When asked about the Raph & Casey friendship which can be seen in other iterations in TMNT it was said that though Raph & Casey didn’t get the chance to interact that much in the show they would actually make ‘the perfect pair’ if they had gotten to spend time together.
6. It was stated that after the Krang were sealed away the Turtles crashed & needed recovery time
7. After the events of the movie the public become slightly more aware of the existence of the Turtles
It was said that there would be a divide between people who feared & people who supported mutants & that the Turtles would have to work to maintain their reputation as heroes
8. When asked about if the Turtles had favourites when it came to their brother it was stated that Mikey was most likely Raph’s favourite & that Leo had a soft spot for Donnie & that Leo, Mikey & Donnie all look up to Raph

9. When asked about Future Mikey & why he looked so much older in the future it was stated that the more powerful you Ninpo & Mystic energy are the more potential the powers have to drain whoever is using them
10. When asked about the heights of the future Turtles it was stated that due to his powers draining him Mikey had shrunk slightly but the Future version of Raph had been over 6ft 6 & the Future Version of Donnie had been slightly taller that Future Leo.
11. Casey Junior is said to have lost Cassandra when he was rather young & only has brief memories of her & that he was mostly raised by the Future version of Leo.
12. When asked about Splinter’s mystic abilities it was stated that he could do anything any of the Turtles could do if he tried
We’ve have briefly seen this when Splinter used Leo’s odachi to make portals but it also possibly means that Splinter could have also possibly replicated some of Raph, Donnie & Mikey’s abilities as well.
13. If there had been a cross over episode with Rise the 2012 Turtles were the Turtles most likely to be used due to many of the people who worked on Rise having also worked on the 2012 cartoon as well
Mikey’s powers are said to open up the possibility for cross overs with other universes
14. When asked about the Rat King it was stated he could have possibly been an extremely powerful Yokai
15. It was stated that Leo & Donnie both got their confidence from Splinter while Raph inherited his courage & sense of duty
It was also stated that Mikey can tell that Splinter misses his old family & works to keep the family together

So I have a question for Rise fanfic writers. I've been reading some fanfics lately and when it comes to blood, it's described as "pink"... Is this because of the censorship in the movie? Like if it have been red, the rating of the movie would've been higher and they didn't want that. I don't want to dunk on details but seeing the term "pink" used to describe their blood just irks me.

THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR TMNT MUTANT MAYHEM!!
I should've made this post earlier but I just watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem last night and OMG! The animation was stellar! The writing and voice acting was on point! The fight choreography was amazing! Seth Rogen and his team did a fantastic job bring this new iteration to life and apparently we'll be getting more! Word is that there will be 2 seasons of a cartoon that continue their adventures and it will bridge those with the sequel movie.
A few things though:
There is a scene where April pukes due to nerves and I kinda wish that scene was shorter. It was just gross but I understand why it had to happen.
I like the idea of Leo having a crush on April. It was cute how flustered he got. I really wish this was how the Donnie and April dynamic was when it was focused on in 2k12, but anyway.
And the fact that their little mutant family grows by the end is really sweet and adorable! Maybe we'll see more mutants in the upcoming series.
