Everything Everywhere All at Once really said that parents would love to be able to blame all the things they don't understand about their children on some sort of tangible enemy that they could fight and defeat but that enemy doesn't exist and all they're fighting are their children's different forms of self-expression which causes them to hurt their children in the process and their children to lash out and hurt them. And despite all that, despite how much it hurts both parties, both still love each other and want to be understood by each other.
That for a parent to be there for their child, they have to be willing to understand them and not fight them.
More than 60% of the global population that are classified as the Phase 5 famine/catastrophe level of food insecurity and starvation are in the Gaza Strip right now, and that percentage is projected to increase to 95% by Februrary
Agnes barely shows up but her story stuck out to me the most. This woman was set up to be sacrificed and used for all eternity by a man and was striped from her identity until Noemi (who is personally being watched and messed with by the men+gloom) comes and sets her free. The connection these two have is so interesting to me! yum !!!
yes none of these guys have had a wink of sleep!!! they are deathly tired!! and they need their parental figures to tell them it’ll be okay and kiss them on the forehead!!! (WHAT thank you sosomuch <3<3<3 😭💖💖)
Brees family + found family
the dad and mom scenes really got me feeling all types of ways, I love stories about complicated relationships with parents (mothers especially) and Brees journey with her grief and the memory of her mother got me in the heart
Near the end of this past school year I read a book called Mexican Gothic and I fell in love with the story and it’s characters Noemí and Francis. It filled me with inspiration and I knew I wanted to make some art of what I imaged the characters to look like :] I definitely recommend picking up this book if you have the time!
