“Ten-year-olds are the most frightening people on the planet. I think we all remember being ten, where making eye contact during recess meant you were going to have a Pokemon battle, and the winner got to keep the loser’s lunch money.

“But as an adult, seeing the kids who are off on their Pokemon journeys, swaggering along, ready to fight anybody and everybody they meet, up to and including God, it really hits you. These children will fight you, and when they win, your best bet is to just throw twenty dollars on the ground and flee in the other direction.

Froy Gutierrez works as Nikolai. why, you ask? i'll tell you why ppl have been going off on Janis Ancens as Lanstov. he doesnt work bc he looks too mature. he has Nikolai's face structure, but he doesnt have the playfulness of his features, also Janis is a model and Froy is an actor. Nikolai's actor needs to be young. he needs to be a little puppy eyed pretty boy. bc thats literally what his kingdom thinks of him. the ppl of his kingdom last saw him when he was only a boy, so they all remember him as the little puppy-eyed pretty prince (sobachka), bc they didnt see him grow up, bc he went away to ketterdam and then his whole privateer business. thats one of the main reasons why he isnt taken seriously. and Froy has that face. Nikolai uses this to his advantage when he wants to. that's his whole appeal, his whole thing. Nikolai Lanstov is the little pretty prince until he tells you of the time he cut off a man's fingers and fed them to his dog. he's sweet and charming till he's dangerous and menacing. he's constantly putting on a show. it's essential that Nikolai looks young. he should look too young to be in charge of anything, let alone a whole country or a whole ship business. he should look too pretty and young to be able to do anything on his own until he threatens to accuse the king of ravka of rape (rightfully so) and takes matters into his own hands. he's smart, clever, charming and a loudmouth. everything he has, he uses to his advantage. thats what makes him a very enjoyable character. anyways i rest my case, thank you
