I visit a hotel in Malacca for 3 days. The owner and I met all the employees and inspected the his two hotels and his airbnb. I heard from the employees that the owner rarely visits his hotel, and usually only communicates with manager through WhatsApp. Mainly only discuss with the manager also they have WhatsApp group with all the employees. Communicates with employees can be said to be zero. Under the authority of the manager, all employees are furious and dare not speak. The manager's personnel relationship is not ideal. Or I can say this, the manager is a very hardworking person but selfish and has a high desire for power. Many things, the manager is always alone. But what can't be done in anticipation is that the effect is not as good as expected. As a result, hotel and airbnb often have complaints and revenue reduced until lose profit. My own opinion, why the owner does not take the time to understand to the views of each employee and then integrate all the opinions to improve. At the same time, when necessary, the power of the manager must be decentralized to allow competent people to share all the work. In order to achieve the best results. When the management and the oporation can't find a balance between employees and management. Unite all employees. Then, your management will face many problems and will lose a lot of talent. Employees care about their future and salary. Owner cares about profits. Or it can be said that both parties want their own interests! If a smart owner will give each employee the benefits they need by understanding their employees, so that every employee will admire and do their utmost to the company. Recently, I have always heard a lot of negative news.  When I met with my colleagues, I also heard some negative topics from time to time. I do not deny that the current situation in Malaysia is indeed not ideal. The international community is also facing the impact of the new coronavirus. Tourism is almost stagnant. Admittedly, the hotel's occupancy rate was about 70%. . . After deducting basic operating expenses, for rent or bank loans. . . There is a little profit... Now it may not even reach the 30% occupancy rate. Many owners hold negative thoughts and even plan to close. But thinking deeply, is there really no way to change it? Are you sure to lose money? Is there any chance to increase the occupancy rate? My answer is yes, definitely! We must change the business model, and may not be as profitable as before.
