no excuses writing meme, askbox version
(Nicked from iambickilometer):
drop one of these bad boys in my askbox and i will post, without editing
FIRST — the first two sentences of my current project
LAST — the most recently written two sentences of my current project
NEXT — the next line. meaning i will finish the sentence I’m on and write a new one, which you’ll get.
[insert prompt here] — you post a prompt, and i’ll write three sentences based on that prompt, set in the same time/setting as my current project
THE END — i’ll make up an ending, or post the ending if i’ve written it
BEFORE THE BEGINNING — three sentences (or more) about something that happened before the plot of my current project
POV — something that’s already happened, retold from another character’s perspective

At the close of each night, I’m reminded just how lonely I am.
The anxiety is a steady beat of a drum, rising in volume until I feel like I’m going to rip through my skin and become bare, nakedly exposed as if I’m first being born, brought into this world yet to become corrupted by my very humanity.
I was supposed to be born the day of the big earthquake in ‘89 but I came just shy of 2 weeks earlier. Ever since the beginning I’ve been dodging death, even when sometimes I don’t want to, sometimes I want the waters to rise above my head and drown my screams out, but someone or something, a stroke of luck (I’ve yet to decide whether it’s good or bad) saves me.
Like every other kid, I had plans and dreams of what I wanted to be when I grow up and where I want to live and about marriage and kids. Now I stare out my bedroom window at my parent’s house, looking at the deer eating apples, wondering where it all went wrong, where I went wrong. Even the deer run the other way.
I’m trying to be more open and honest because I’m told it’s not healthy to bottle everything inside, letting it fester and squirm until it’s too late.
I’m still lonely but at least I have these words.

Haunting Memories
My mind is a ghost-town.
Memories that should have been forgotten
Linger at the bar,
Spilling beer and trading laughs.
The sound echos throughout my head;
It keeps me up at night.

I think the problem is that people fret over the permanence instead of the beauty of love, and that is where you lose both, all at once. So do not fret, forget about your infinities. Forget about marriage and two kids. Love is not then, love is not later, love is now. Hold on to it before it passes you by. Embrace it like the stars in the sky, poetry in his words and fire in his pretty brown eyes. Embrace is before it floats away and all you’re left with is the bittersweet feeling of not enjoying something when you had it.

How to Find your Purpose
1. Take time to ponder the questions “What really matters in life; what do I want to have achieved when I look back over my life?”
2. Make time for solitude and silence. Filling every minute makes it hard to listen to our intuition, or that inner guiding voice.
3. Seek out people who inspire you – and then learn from them. There are many people who live inspiring lives. We can learn from their experience, and what they have to share.
4. Consciously monitor your progress. It is easy to slip back into unproductive habits. Hence, we need to be committed to sticking to our plan.
5. Accept that struggles and setbacks will be part of your experience. There will be times when you are tempted to give up and stop trying … but choosing to keep going will lead you to your dreams.

Perfectly respectable Victorian women wrote to each other in terms such as these: ‘I hope for you so much, and feel so eager for you… that the expectation once more to see your face again, makes me feel hot and feverish.’ They recorded the ‘furnace blast’ of their ‘passionate attachments’ to each other… They carved their initials into trees, set flowers in front of one another’s portraits, danced together, kissed, held hands, and endured intense jealousies over rivals or small slights… Today if a woman died and her son or husband found such diaries or letters in her effects, he would probably destroy them in rage or humiliation. In the nineteenth century, these sentiments were so respectable that surviving relatives often published them in elegies…. [In the 1920s] people’s interpretation of physical contact became extraordinarily ‘privatized and sexualized,’ so that all types of touching, kissing, and holding were seen as sexual foreplay rather than accepted as ordinary means of communication that carried different meanings in different contexts… It is not that homosexuality was acceptable before; but now a wider range of behavior opened a person up to being branded as a homosexual… The romantic friendships that had existed among many unmarried men in the nineteenth century were no longer compatible with heterosexual identity.

This is actually pretty interesting! During ads, your brain usually tries to form new words it's presented with your mouth, and that's how they tend to make an impression that may lead to the product leaving an impression. If your mouth is full of popcorn, you can't form the word as well and therefore less of an impression is made.
You don’t buy popcorn for the movie. You buy it to get through the commercials

My mother tells me that when I meet someone I like, I have to ask them three questions: 1. what are you afraid of? 2. do you like dogs? 3. what do you do when it rains? Of those three, she says the first one is the most important. ‘They gotta be scared of something, baby. Everybody is. If they aren’t afraid of anything, then they don’t believe in anything, either.’ I asked you what you were afraid of. ‘spiders, mostly. being alone. little children, like, the ones who just learned how to push a kid over on the playground. oh and space. holy s**t, space.’ I asked you if you liked dogs. ‘I have three.’ I asked you what you do when it rains. 'sleep, mostly. sometimes I sit at the window and watch the rain droplets race. I make a shelter out of plastic in my backyard for all the stray animals; leave them food and a place to sleep.’ he smiled like he knew. like his mom told him the same thing. 'how about you?’ me? I’m scared of everything. of the hole in the o-zone layer, of the lady next door who never smiles at her dog, and especially of all the secrets the government must be breaking it’s back trying to keep from us. I love dogs so much, you have no idea. I sleep when it rains. I want to tell everyone I love them. I want to find every stray animal and bring them home. I want to wake up in your hair and make you shitty coffee and kiss your neck and draw silly stick figures of us. I never want to ask anyone else these questions ever again.

When they ask me how much I love you, I will tell them about the nights we cracked the skies, the way your lips were soft clouds and I kissed them even when they were full of rain. I will tell them how our heavy breaths were thunder, how it was too beautiful to walk away from your rainstorm smile, the way thunder drips from your mouth. You tell me I’m sunset, say I’m everywhere and some skies are just worth the fall and you hold me like you’re drowning in colours When they ask, I will tell them about the lightning storms, every spark, every time you filled up my collarbones with lighter fluid, every time you touched me with flames. I dare to say that somewhere the stars are watching and they’re cheering me on The light pouring through the trees means they like who i’m dancing with.

When friendship dies away, I think the best thing you can do is to think of that person as someone who accompanied you for a part of your life. They helped you, they were here at a certain time and added something to your life. They were not meant to stay for longer than that but celebrate the short moment and let them go. They were on your road to help you at one moment of your life. You will find other friends who will follow you and walk at your side forever. Some friendships die away but that doesn’t mean they didn’t hugely touched you or have an impact on your life.
Cherish that.
