"More and more, she wonders why she waited so long to take Ben’s hand. More and more, she worried she'd waited too long." This one's for
@randombks's haunting and if i'm on fire, you'll be made of ashes, too.
In working on this, I spent a lot of time looking at mid-century pulp fiction covers by illustrators like Robert McGinnis: I wanted to capture the color and feeling of the nightclub Rey worked in, but also the tension that defines a lot of those covers. I hope I succeeded!
And I wanted to play with canon - Rey's white dress is both a nod to early '60s fashion (albeit a little too low cut, but she is a nightclub singer!) while also being a nod to canon. Similarly, Ben's in black and lingering in the darkness.
