Ramadan lanterns, called fanoos in Arabic, have been a very unique symbol of the holy month for hundreds of years. We are celebrating them as part of our Ramadan crafts 30 day challenge. These Ramadan lanterns are linked with children and are made from various materials, like paper, but this one is made of yarn.

The girls have been getting some chocolate in their Magnet Ramadan Calendar and I asked them to save the wrappers. In today's 30 day Ramadan crafts challenge, we are using those wrappers to make a fanoos, the Arabic word for Ramadan lantern. Historically, they are known as symbols of hope.
