I agree. I think this is a very great thread so I would like to add my two cents to it:

I think the way I would describe it is that Lucy matured over the years. Yes, she was sassy and annoyingly outgoing in the beginning but like I said, it was the beginning, when she was seeking acceptance from other people and she wanted a place to belong. It was like a child seeking attention everywhere.

One very short eg that has gone unnoticed by many people was around ep 60, when the sorcerer's weekly guy came for an interview and she literally dressed up as a bunny girl to impress him. She wanted to become a model so bad, she was literally begging him for attention.

But 200 episodes later when the same guy approached her and asked her to model for the magazine, she declined and instead asked for a job as a writer, even if it paid less. Yes!!! This is the same Lucy who has now outgrown her need for attention all the damn time.

She doesn't need or want to be a model anymore because maybe deep inside she never wanted to be one in the first place, but rather seeking attention and popularity. It was like, there was a hole in her heart.... That loneliness....she felt in her childhood....when she had all those dinners alone....and that hole, it was filled by Fairytail....those members who loved her and accepted her for who she is.

Remember when she got awarded at the end, the whole guild showed up!?

Her journey is never about being badass like Erza, in reality it was never her true nature. Her real nature was the one she showed in Tartaros, the one she showed in 'Night of the Starry Sky' arc, where she was willing to sacrifice everything to save her friends.

Her journey was never about becoming strong, but rather about accepting herself for who she is and becoming a better version of herself and yes, she has grown to become a more mature lady and a strong wizard as years went by.

Hey so I just wanna talk about how fucking stupid Mashima's writting with Lucy is. No this isn't Lucy hate. It's an actual statement about Mashima's shitty fucking characterization and writting.

That being said let's get started.

We all know Lucy kicked a Wizard Saints fucking ass by kicking him in the balls. We also know Lucy becomes strong has shit and badass.

But that's not my issue here. My issue is that Mashima writes her weird. Now let me explain this, Lucy is shown to have a temper. She's literally known for it.

We've seen her lose her shit a lot in the beginning. However after seeing Lucy help out Natsu during his fight with Gajeel, even telling the man off for crying out loud & getting the shit beaten out of her but still somehow having hope? And then Her Star Dresses which I'll get into later on.

It makes this bullshit version of her, very horrible when she was such a good character to begin with.

Scenes like this don't make much sense to me. Lucy in the fight with Flare, gets beaten. Later on Laxus, even obliterating her Guild says: This is for Lucy. Now I don't have an issue with the whole: Getting back at those who hurt your friend. I just don't understand why it's Lucy who has to be beaten twice. Lucy who's progressed so far. Lucy who basically told Gajeel to fuck off. Lucy who took down a Saint by kicking him in the balls.

It just doesn't make any sort of sense to me. This is supposedly the same girl that summoned all of her spirits at once, told her father off in the most savage way and fucking told the Celestial Spirit King he was wrong right to his face. Now getting into the Star Dresses scene I mentioned earlier. That scene was great. However it's also the FIRST fucking scene we have since the beginning that shows Lucy.

What I mean by that is: This is the one time we have gotten Lucy herself, in character, being a badass per usual. Unfortunately she still has the shitty characterization Mashima gave her. But that moment? Seeing Lucy the girl who told the world to fuck off more than once? That was fucking amazing because I do not like this Marry Sue bullshit Mashima pulled with her.

Give me back the Lucy from the beginning who lost her fucking shit and wasn't ever afraid to speak her damn mind. Give me back the Lucy who was never once afraid to punch the shit out of anyone. Give me back Lucy who fucking told a whole King to fuck off with his opinion because she didn't agree with him.

I don't know who this submissive girl is but I don't fucking like her. Slightly off topic but do you all remember that scene where Lucy tries to fight Natsu? And he blows fire under her skirt? Yeah no. Out of character because Lucy would of beat his ass for it. Hell she's hit him for less.

Anyways that's just my fucking rant (& opinion). Super pissy because we could of had main character Lucy instead of Natsu Throws A Bitch Fit Every Two Seconds And Wins.

Call me delusional but I'm still hoping for a final team up, if we ever get a post-war kind of scenario or at least a TUM chapter dedicated to Ochako and Jirou...

Well? A girl can dream....

OchaJirou vs TsuChako? Missed Opportunity!!

I've always felt like if Horikoshi wasn't so dead set on making Tsu Ochako's bestie, Jirou could have just played the role better. These two feel so natural and cool.

Plus, the way Jirou is always looking at Ochako and Ochako loves Jiro's music and stuff, it feels so real. Plus, they both have those cute short hair...

In fact, working with Tsu could have been a challenge for her, because Tsu is always so dead set on following all the rules all the time while Ochako has a more carefree kind of nature. Tsu can also occasionally be brash about something.

Like they could have easily made Tsuyu a very serious and rational person, who follows rules above everything else.

She's also the bigger sister in her family (canon) , so naturally she didn't like Ochako at first but then Summer camp happens, Toga attacks and Tsuyu sends Ochako to get help but as we know from cannon, Ochako comes back, saves Tsu and gets hurt in the process.

This could easily have been the cause of conflict between them, because they both were valid.

Even if the rules said to use their quirks for defence, Ochako coming back saved Tsuyu's life. But if Ochako wasn't able to apprehend Toga in her first attempt, she would have hurt Ochako more and it could have put both of their lives in danger.

They biker about this like BakuShouto and still they somehow team up to save others but it doesn't go so well because Kacchan gets kidnapped.

And that again, becomes a conflict for TsuChako because Ochako wanted to go save Bakugo while Tsu refused to cooperate. This could have been a great character development for both of them working together now to save Toga.

We know all girls in class 1a are pretty close.

They often have girls night and occasionally tease each other about their crushes and stuff but not everyone needs to be all nice and sweet all the time. A little bickering here and there and more competition could have added more depth to their arcs.

So what I wanted was Tsu to be more of a rival to Ochako, in terms of both power and ideals. And in the end, Ochako's growth remains the same but her actions inspire Tsu to break out of her tunnel vision and help everyone in need.

But as we all know, none of that happens in the cannon.

Instead, both Tsu and Ochako are good girls who get along easily, follow all the rules, yada yada and we end up with Tsu being Ochako's sidekick for some reason instead of her best friend.

And Jirou? Why doesn't she even have a single team up with Jirou? Their powers are so complementary!! Ochako could lift stuff and Jirou could fire it with her earphone jack!! In fact, Jirou could even make stuff (like debris) for Ochako to engage in combat (with her support item)

I'm still pissed that we got so little of OchaJiro moments in the manga...

It was such a missed opportunity!!

MHA POPULARITY POLL RESULTS

1. Bakugo: Looks like even he is bored of the #01 spot.

2. Deku: Last time Bakugo's votes were double to that of Todoroki and Deku. At least they put up a decent competition this time.

3. Shouto: At this point, it has become a tradition for the top 3 spots.

4. Dabi: Now that is a pleasant surprise! He was in 11th spot last time, so it's well deserved.

5. Hawks: Another great and deserving character.

6. Endeavour: Guess Todoroki plotline drama is really the heart of MHA. 4/10 characters in the top 10 are directly related to it!

7. Kirishima: wtf did you even do? Like seriously. I love kirishima and all but that spot should have been someone else's!!! Like All Might, or Toga or Shigaraki!!! Speaking of which, wtf is Shigaraki???

8. Iida: At least he had his moment with Shouto. More deserving than Kirishima.

9. Ochako: Should have been higher. Waaaaaaayyyy higher!!! And same for Toga? Where is she? She's not in the top 10?? HOW!!!???? DID PEOPLE NOT LIKE THE TRAGIC YURI??

10. Shoji: Guess the heteromorph arc really did wonders.

My takeaway:

I think a lot of characters should have been higher, like AM, Shigaraki, Toga but well....so anyways, I'm gonna update this list with other characters and the number of votes very soon, so look forward to it!

7th Time Loop Volume 6: A Story About When It's Sweeter to Sleep Together

This is a canon short story written by Touko Amekawa as a Bookwalker bonus for Volume 6 of 7th Time Loop!

Based on how they have been adding bonuses sometimes, it might be added when Volume 6 gets translated by Seven Seas someday, but for now, I've translated it in English!

A Story About When It's Sweeter to Sleep Together

Around a day has passed since the fire onboard the ship, and it was now bedtime. After taking a bath and helping with disinfecting Arnold's bedroom, Rishe planned to sleep with him again today. Arnold had this blank look on his face and seemingly planned to say something, but in the end he just went with Rishe's wishes.

Once again, Rishe would become his body pillow.

(Although...)

"What's the matter...?"

Sitting on the middle of the bed, Rishe's face showed a mysterious expression.

Arnold, who also sat on the middle of the bed, sensed her being troubled and asked her that question.

Raising her face, Rishe stared intently at Arnold, who just finished taking a bath just like Rishe.

Arnold, who usually wore tight collars to hide his scars, apparently wore comfortable clothes for bedtime. His neck, chest and collarbone could be seen from his shirt. Hugging one of the many pillows around them, Rishe then tugged on Arnold's sleeve and asked.

"Your Highness, you always use soaps with less scents, right?"

"It's less of a nuisance, you see."

Arnold made it clear he hated excessive fragrances.

Rishe raised the back of her hand to the tip of her nose and sniffed.

"Hmm."

"Rishe."

He stopped asking further questions and instead called her name, while Rishe timidly replied.

"Actually, um. Master Joel pointed it out to me this morning."

"Pointed what out?"

"..."

She looked so embarrassed, she looked down while continuing.

"He told me I have the same scent as yours, Prince Arnold..."

"..."

Arnold could probably guess how red Rishe's face was with embarrassment right now.

Thinking about it made her more embarrassed, so Rishe tried to excuse herself while clutching her nightgown hem.

"So, tonight, after my bath, I reduced the amount of lotion I put on my body, but the scent still overpowered yours, so..."

"..."

"So before I sleep here with you, I'll just wipe myself. I'll remove that scent away as much as possible, so feel free to sleep first, Your Highness... BWAAAAAAAAAH?!"

Rishe screamed as Arnold's arms reached out to her. He placed a large hand on her back, bringing her closer. Arnold then nuzzled Rishe's nape closely.

"Mmm..."

His black hair tickled Rishe's skin.

Arnold went still in that position while muttering to himself.

"...You smell sweet."

"I-is that so? I apologize, I can wipe off that scent away..."

"But."

Arnold finally pulled away, speaking composedly as if nothing happened.

"I think of it as nothing but your scent."

Before she could ponder the meaning of his words, Rishe's eyes went spinning.

"It's not uncomfortable. You don't need to do anything unnecessary like wiping anything, go to bed soon."

"B-but."

"Here. I'll snuff out the lamp soon."

Being prompted like that, Rishe hurried under the covers.

Arnold didn't seem to mind and didn't say anything as Rishe laid down next to him.

(The meaning of those words... there shouldn't be any deeper meaning on those words...)

Her body now turning warmer wasn't due to her just finishing her bath moments ago. Realizing this, Rishe turned her back away from Arnold.

(As the body temperature rises, the sweet scent on the skin from the lotion turns stronger...!)

"....?"

Of course, tonight, she planned to still be a body pillow to him, but things needed to cool down a bit.

When she asked him to not snuff out the lamp yet, Arnold respected her wish and put off from snuffing it out for some moments.

Age 3, Toga had her hair put up in messy buns, and dressed in cute, frilly clothing.

Her outfit looks to be a two-piece - shirt and skirt - complete with a little bow-tie and additionally frilly socks.

I don't think 3-year-olds can coordinate and dress into an outfit such as this without adult help; and to get her hair buns, there definitely needed to be an adult to style her hair.

So this was Toga, age 3, having been fussed over by her parents, who took time and attention to dress her in pretty outfits and brush her hair for her.

All this changed after she demonstrated the tendencies of her quirk, after her parents found her drinking the dead bird's blood:

In the first pic, she looks only slightly older than when she was in that frilly outfit - age 4 or 5, perhaps. She's several years older in the second pic - 8 years old, I'd say?

Her hair is being down is the most obvious change - her parents didn't take the time to style her hair anymore. They no longer help her put it in a hairstyle that would take an even few minutes of time and effort.

But her clothing has also changed - her dresses are much more plain, and look to be simple things that can be easily slipped over the head.

Much like how Toga's old house showed that her parents stopped marking her height at around age 3, the way Toga is dressed as a child also possibly shows that after Toga manifested her quirk, her parents might have just since gave her minimum attention. Might have avoided touching her as much as possible.

Toga will continue to keep her hair down for years afterwards until age 15 (last year of middle school). By then, she'll be old enough to do her own hair, but she continued to keep her hair down and straight. It's associated with 'normal' for her, the 'normal' that she's told to follow. It's part of the mask she wore, it's how she suppressed herself.

Once she ran away, though, once she's free from her house, and the 'normalcy' she was performing, Toga has her hair out in messy buns again:

And even in her imagine spot after her heart is saved by Ochako, she pictures herself with the same hair style.

The Dark Horse of fall 2024: 7th time loop, ep 3 review

This anime is definitely the one to keep an eye on this season! Only 3 episodes have been released and it continues to surprise me with the quality content it is offering.

I cannot describe how pleasantly surprised I am seeing the entire dance sequence animated. You can really see the time and effort they put into it. Just like the sword scene in episode 1, they went over and beyond with this one.

Every moment is beautifully drawn. From Rishe's clever hand moments to Arnold's subtle facial expressions....

It actually looked like a dance battle for dominance that Arnold won. It also reminds me of that Frieren's scene where Fern and Stark dance.

Anime Original Scenes from LN

I also loved the fact that they're animating LN scenes. Like, the wine scene when Rishe was conspired to drink a spicy wine was actually a part of LN and cut from the manga.

It shows some background characters and gives more context to why Rishe was standing alone in the balcony, after the ball dance. Arnold X Rishe scenes were also great. The cinematography, the voice acting, almost everything was pretty spot on.

Rishe choosing her maids was also nicely done. Imagine the horror.... the person you've been treating as a rookie maid is now the crown Princess who'll decide your faith. Good for her that Rishe is a decent person and she got a teaching job instead.

Looking forward to the next episode for now!

This is WEEK 2 and it's already in #04 spot!!!

To think it jumped 5 places!!! It's just week 2 and it is already competing with the likes of Solo leveling, Dangers in my heart and Sign of Affection, that already have a very solid fanbase. With 'Dangers in my Heart' having an entire season of fan-following and solo leveling being one of the most hyped anime of the year!!

Plus, in Anime Corner it was #02!!!

Just behind DIMH and beating Solo leveling, it jumped 8 freaking spots!!! Also beating Apothecary Diaries and Frieren!!!

Just 2 more episodes back to back like these and it will be #01 in no time.
