“I advise you to stop sharing your dreams with people who try to hold you back, even if they’re your parents. Because, if you’re the kind of person who senses there’s something out there for you beyond whatever it is you’re expected to do - if you want to be EXTRA-ordinary - you will not get there by hanging around a bunch of people who tell you you’re not extraordinary. Instead, you will probably become as ordinary as they expect you to be.”

"Life is a question of nerves, and fibres, and slowly built-up cells in which thought hides itself and passion has its dreams. You may fancy yourself safe and think yourself strong. But a chance tone of colour in a room or a morning sky, a particular perfume that you had once loved and that brings subtle memories with it, a line from a forgotten poem that you had come across again, a cadence from a piece of music that you had ceased to play... I tell you, that it is on things like these that our lives depend."
Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray

It's funny how my sadness transform from my worst feeling into my buddy. This is the only thing that sticks around me when no one else does. Sadness is my only companion when everyone is busy making their own excuses.

"It eventually gets better, without any sort of explanation; one day you just realize that you’re no longer upset. You’re no longer mad, hurt, or bothered by the things that took so much of your energy and thoughts. You will find yourself in a peaceful place and enjoy that feeling."

“So often we try to make other people feel better by minimizing their pain, by telling them that it will get better (which it will) or that there are worse things in the world (which there are). But that’s not what I actually needed. What I actually needed was for someone to tell me that it hurt because it mattered. I have found this very useful to think about over the years, and I find that it is a lot easier and more bearable to be sad when you aren’t constantly berating yourself for being sad.”

I was a gifted child. Until I wasn't. I was the golden girl. Until I couldn't burn anymore.
My parents expected me to build wings of gold and fly further than anyone could ever try. I don't blame them, having a child to raise is like sculpting a clay pot, you can shape it the way you like, paint it the colour you fancy. To raise a child is to play God. To raise a child is to be God.
But to be a child is to fall, to make mistakes, to fail. The thing about being too bright at an early age means you burn out by the time you're 16 and suddenly the world around you becomes more gray and terribly, terribly lonely. The fire is never warm enough, nothing is ever enough. And one day you find yourself begging to a godless sky, begging for a new spark.
I was a gifted child once. I was the golden girl. And one day, I burned out.
-Ritika Jyala, excerpt from The world is a sphere of ice and our hands are made of fire

These days I find myself smiling without struggling to stop my tears from falling. I smile light heartedly and even a cliche love story warms my heart. There's no ghost looming over saying you shouldn't be happy or this smile will disappear soon. I've managed to conquer it for now. But what's the key to this,?
The key is when I breathe I feel my lungs working, I notice my heart beating and veins still carrying my blood , if my body is still alive why did I cease to? Why did I give up when my organs were still fighting? I found my answer in these questions. If I can decide to feel like a ghost in a living body I have potential to bring the ghost back to life too. So I did that and I will do that, over and over again until I finally feel alive .
