Is all the painted stars a standalone? Like I know it’s a sequel but can I read it without reading the first?
Hello!
So the story and everything that happens is standalone, and while it's a prequel the events of the first one aren't like, Hugely Relevant 😅
I tried my damndest to make sure you *can* read it as a standalone, but it's hard to judge myself as I'm so entrenched in it. The reviews I've seen have been mostly weighted towards "You can read this without reading the first one", so I think I managed it! (One person said that they wanted a Raff/Penn book then only realised when they were finished that it already exists 😅)
This does make me wonder if i should make a "Last Week On Hartswood" masterpost somewhere for people who want to read Stars but not Hartswood, though......
okay SO. Just FYI i have an insider contact and i asked him about this new google drive nsfw scare.
backing up is never a bad idea.
99% of people will be unaffected, and this is NOT a crackdown on having nsfw content on gdrive
"What I think has happened is that drive has made several updates to its spam/abuse filtering and one of the focuses is trying to catch spammers who share explicit things in docs with random emails. Which is good in theory, but has the potential to hit false positives."
his recommendation is to keep NSFW words out of your doc titles and instead of sharing the "open link", share directly with you beta's email addresses.
It is also more likely to flag up explicit images, though that is less likely to be a fic problem.

Something I really love is seeing stuff in reviews where they say they'd like to see X or Y from me in the future and I'm sat here going "ehehehehe WAY AHEAD OF YOU"
