I don't know about anyone else. But I always think botw/totk is on the "the hero fails" timeline and the amount of pressure Link must feel knowing in the past one of the legendary heroes died and that it is a possibility for him as well.

I'm on my Zelink stuff again

But what if Link's mother and father died while he was still fairly young? And he disappears for a while (which is how he learned to live in the wild) and suddenly shows up at the castle with the Master Sword one day.

And then imagine it starts off he doesn't want to lose Zelda because he feels he has to protect her, like he couldn't protect his parents.

But then it quickly turns into he can't lose her because he doesn't want to lose anyone again,but especially not her? And this is why he'll fight to the death for her and go to the ends of the world to find her and challenge fate.

Hhgghb give me Link might not show it but he's full of emotions over the possibility of losing Zelda

Remember when I wrote this post on plot bunnies?

I found the notes where I had started writing dialog. Use if you want because, again, I'm never going to write it.

This is for the 3rd plotbunny I believe.

Link: "Fairytales don't exist, only a world where we're all just pawns to those in power."

King Rhoam: "You bring this blasphemy to me?"

Zelda: "Should I not? Shouldn't I trust my father to have my best interest in mind? Link has been nothing but loyal to his duty and this country. Should he be punished for only being human?"

Rhoam: Tell me, what are your feelings towards my daughter?

Link: "She is a member of the royal family, one I have sworn my fidelity to, Your Majesty."

Rhoam: "A safe choice of words, my boy, but I'm not looking for false words."

Link: "I would have laid down my life for her easily, even before she found her inner power."

Rhoam: "And now?"

Link: "When the time comes for her to take over the crown I will continue to fight for Hyrule. Not just for my loyalty to this land and its people, but because Hyrule will prosper greatly under her leadership."

Rhoam: "You believe in my daughter so strongly?"

Link: "Undeniably, Your Majesty."

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom spoilers. Zelink edition of things that made me lose my mind so far under the cut

1. Link put the master sword back after BotW and (I forget 100%) took Zelda with him. Then they went together to retrieve it. Maybe a good one shot story about how the 3 times he obtained the master sword were different. At 12 he had a lot of pressure on him, enough to make him lose all emotion. In BotW he's alone and struggles to obtain it. In TotK he easily takes it and he has Zelda with him.

2. Link brought Zelda back to Hateno to live! She could have possibly stayed with Impa or someone else, but he brought her to his house!!!!. But, like, the idea he just brought her to Hateno.... and probably didn't even hesitate. Then he's always by her side. He did not want to leave her, ever.

3. It's definitely been 3-5 years (based off Mattison in game). So unless Link is completely feral and lives in the wild, he definitely shares the house with Zelda. And that means they share the bed because there's no other sign of a sleep area.

4. I think 1 or 2 NPCs (maybe more) said Zelda is a good cook. She totally learned to cook (and cook well at that) because Link likes to eat. You can't tell me that wasn't her motivation.

Zelink plot bunnies I'm never going to write....

AU-ish: Link has an identical twin. Said twin holds the master sword and people love him (always have). However, twin dies one day and so Link takes up the sword in his place because the sword only lets Link hold it. Everyone doesn't really take to Link and are actually kind of mean to him because they dont believe he'll be able to save them.... plot twist, either twin pulled the sword because the sword can't tell them apart since they're identical or twin stole the sword from Link who really pulled it because twin wanted the attention. Link is supposed to be the real hero that holds the sword.

They're older of course, probably years later... but Zelda finds out she's pregnant and doesn't want it because she doesn't want to carry on the bloodline and subject a future child to fight the enemy. Link spends the time trying to convince her fate would have intervened anyway and to just enjoy the now (or something along those lines).

Maybe AOC plotline: After defeating the calamity Link is sent to Hebra as his post for a couple years. One year he's called back to the castle and to bring the sword with because there's going to be some celebration (defeat of the calamity or whatever). Zelda sees him in the training yard, they haven't been in touch since Link left, but no one's really seen much of Zelda since either as the King has become really cruel..... long story short, they sneak to see each other. The sword is left in the throne room on display for the celebration. But in reality it was to separate Link from it as the King is possessed by Ganon (or whatever evil) since he really died that day when the calamity showed up in AOC (or is just possessed, whatever you want). He's just been biding his time and tearing the 2 that could defeat him down.

I hope they make a manga out of the BotW series because that'd be awesome!

Shhhh it's Thursday here but we're going to pretend it's still Wednesday since I had to work until almost 8pm last night 🥲

Or where Ganon knows Zelda’s inner feelings and tries to mess with her mind.......

Or just have Link with a baby because Link+kids=possibly the cutest thing in these games (did I mention it's adorable how he plays hide n seek or tag with Cottla in game?)
