no one tells you how much of life takes practice. not just writing, painting, running, singing, etc, but practicing how to make friends. how to make the right ones. getting practiced at how to be a good friend, a good sibling, a good person. practice identifying when people haven’t earned that. learning to recognize your right to rage and, eventually, how to offer mercy. so much of life is muscle memory, and i’ve begun to realize there are so many more parts of ourselves to flex and stretch and strengthen than those we’re taught in anatomy lessons

I’ve tucked my sorrows,
in the pockets of my heart,
folded, neatly
like a tattered velvet handkerchief.

When One is Afraid of People
حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الوَكِيْلُ
Ḥasbunallāhu wa niʿmal Wakīl.
Allah is enough for us and He is the Best Protector.
Ibn ʿAbbās (radiy Allāhū ‘anhumā) narrated: "[the above] was said by Ibrāhīm (‘alayhis-salām) when he was thrown into the fire; and it was said by Muhammad ﷺ when they (i.e. the hypocrites) said, “A great army is gathering against you, therefore, fear them,” but it only increased their faith and they said: “Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer (of affairs, for us).” (3.173) (Bukhārī 4563)

Have the Prophet ﷺ Hold Your Hand and Admit You to Paradise
رَضِيْتُ بِاللّٰهِ رَبًّا ، وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِيْنًا ، وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ نَّبِيًّا
Raḍītu bi-llāhi Rabbā, wa bi-l-islāmi dīnā, wa bi Muḥammadin-Nabiyyā.
I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islām as my religion and with Muḥammad ﷺ as my Prophet.
Thawbān (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah has promised that anyone who says [the above] three times every morning and evening will be pleased on the Day of Judgement.” (Aḥmad 18927)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever says [the above] in the morning, I guarantee that I will take hold of his hand until I enter him into Paradise.” (Ṭabarānī: al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr 838)
Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Abū Sa’īd, whoever is pleased with Allah as his Lord, Islam as his religion and Muḥammad as his Prophet will be guaranteed entry into Paradise." He (Abū Saʿīd) was amazed and said: "O Messenger of Allah, repeat it for me." He (the Messenger of Allah ﷺ) did that and then said: "There is another act which elevates the position of a man in Paradise one hundred grades (higher); and the distance between one grade and the other is like the distance between the sky and the earth." He (Abū Saʿīd) said: "What is that act, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "Striving in the path of Allah! Striving in the path of Allah!" (Muslim 1884)

Turn your fears into dua. Turn your anxieties into dua. Meaning, I’m scared of something, I’m terrified that XYZ is gonna happen. Everyone has fears, right? Now how do we typically deal with fear? What we typically do with fear is we feed it. How do we feed fear? By just thinking about it. And then all these scenarios come, right? Instead of feeding fear, turn it into a dua. That thing you’re afraid of, turn it into a dua. Make dua about it. Simple as that. Immediately stop it. Stop the thought and turn and focus that feeling of fear and anxiety into making dua. Ask Allah for protection and then after you’ve done that, put your trust in Allah (SWT)—I’ve given it to Allah.

Sometimes it's heart breaking to be a slow person in this fast world with many fast individuals who seem to be able to get grip of things more easily. It's as if we can't work together because I end up being left behind, forgotten.
