It's so true! For so many people on here
do you ever think about how sometimes it just... takes one random message? and suddenly you find yourself with a best friend or in constant conversation with someone who lives on the other side of the world but is just as much of a freak as you are or maybe you find yourself in love with someone without a last name but with so much kindness and affection in their words and presence. crazy how life and love and friendship just happen

I think there's something that needs to be said about encouraging readers to leave feedback.
For me it's not about "tell me my writing is amazing and stroke my ego"
It's more about "please engage with me so that I can experience your joy secondhand and foster a connection with you"
I understand that not everyone wants this in their reading experience, some people are shy and a million other reasons why maybe someone wouldn't want to engage and that's perfectly fine!
But what I'm trying to steer away from is being a passive content creator with passive consumers. What I want to steer toward is fostering a community that is essential to fandom. I want to see your reactions because it makes me feel like I'm a part of something.
On encouraging reblogs —
I understand that not everyone is comfortable reblogging, especially explicit content. This is ok!
But just consider that the only reason you were able to enjoy a fic or fanart is because someone else shared it, and by not sharing it yourself you are potentially robbing someone else of the opportunity to enjoy it as much as you did.
As OPs our reach only goes so far and this website relies on reblogs in order for anything to truly get seen by a wider audience.
So that's really it! That's why I encourage these two things at the end of every story I post. Not because I'm trying to be demanding and "make people feel bad" if they don't do it.
I know most other social media sites encourage mindless content consumption and that's just the way of the world nowadays, but I am from a time when community was at the heart of fandom and I just don't want to lose that.

Obviously alt text is important and I think all it takes is a day when posts won't load images to stimulate why
yknow i never noticed the sheer rareness of images having ids or alt text on this website until i started adding alt text to my art (and trying to remember to add it to any images i post in general, especially text screenshots) and that makes me kinda sad

Bucky and Steve both hate the cold. Bucky because of the fall and cryo, Steve because of the ice.
Steve sleeps under several heated blankets, and thinks they're the greatest invention in the past 70 years, with the exception of the polio vaccine.
Everyone thinks that Bucky's coffee addiction is somehow related to the fact that he always looks exhausted, but it's really because the warm mug feels good in his hands, and the drink heats his chest.
Steve keeps the apartment unreasonably warm, and even though he constantly complains about the cost of utilities, he refuses to turn the heater down.
Bucky regularly sticks his hands under Steve's shirt, resting them on his stomach or back when he hugs him, because Steve's metabolism makes him run hot. Steve couldn't mind less.
Steve and Bucky regularly sleep in a sort of tangled heap on the couch or in bed, sharing body heat.
A good deal of Bucky's closet is jackets, partially to hide the metal arm when he doesn't feel like being stared at by strangers, and partially because they're life savers in the cold New York winter.
Steve avoids going outside for runs in the winter, and instead ends up in a local gym, which is significantly more inconvenient but a helluva lot warmer.
In the summer, Bucky will sit out on the fire escape and just let the sun soak into his skin. Steve joins him sometimes.
Steve is constantly looking for new ways to keep Bucky comfortable, whether that's by keeping the coffee maker full, slipping new sweaters into his closet, or adding a new blanket to the pile he uses as a sort of floor nest on bad nights.
Bucky inadvertently trained Alpine to sleep on his chest, because she's warm and keeps him warm. Steve's camera roll is full of pictures of the two of them like that.

2012 Avengers Tower: a fic rec list
I think we all sometimes yearn for the days when we thought Marvel would let the Avengers be friends who all lived together and fought supervillains in between movie nights.
Though these stories weren't all written or set in 2012 post-Avengers 1 era, but they all feature that team hanging out, having fun, and supporting each other through difficulties.
The list is in chronological order, with fic published from 2012 to 2024.
Amateur Theatrics by galaxysoup (@galaxystew-zombie) (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 26,586 words | Published April 01, 2012)
Summary: In which Thor’s primary problem-solving method (a mighty blow from Mjolnir) fails to have the desired effect on a magical artifact, and his secondary method (a mightier blow from Mjolnir) proves to be actively disastrous.
Big in Japan by gunboots (@gunboots) (Loki/Thor, Stucky | Teen And Up Audiences | 6,203 words | Published May 01, 2012)
Summary: Steve hesitantly reaches out and takes the object in Tony’s arms to survey it. 'It' being a pillow upon which was an almost frighteningly accurate illustration of Loki, their on-and-off again nemesis. "I don't--how did you even get this? Who would MAKE this?" Clearly Steve doesn't find the attention-to-detail on Loki's costume as hilarious as Tony does, which whatever. Like he said. Killjoy. A.K.A The one time Tony buys Thor the world's worst souvenir and it somehow worked out in the end anyway.
The rest are below the cut!
Soft Skills by Lady_Ganesh (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 4,154 words | Published May 31, 2012)
Summary: "So," Bruce said carefully. "You're saying that your tower became a big target for an alien army, so you're going to rebuild it as an even bigger target?" "Well, when you put it like that, it sounds stupid," Tony said. The team tries to bring Steve Rogers into the 21st Century. It mostly works. As my beta CaptainBlue said: Also I love how you did a fic about Avengers team building and still managed to make it 100% about Cap. You have a gift. This is why I love her. Any remaining mistakes are mine.
Without the Usual Cost of Labor by vain_glorious (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 6,387 words | Published June 15, 2012)
Summary: "Someone just reported to SHIELD that whatever was stolen produced “viable offspring,” and we’re hoping that doesn’t mean what we think it does,” Bruce says, evidently deciding to take over for Tony after only one masturbation joke. Also available as a podfic read by blackglass
The Great Avengers Body Swap by vain_glorious (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 3,712 words | Published July 23, 2012)
Summary: Loki and the Avengers spend a month in SHIELD's detention cells, because Loki cast a bodyswapping spell against them and got himself with it, too. Also available as a podfic read by blackglass
The Ice in Windless Cold by Isagel (@isagelc) (OT6 | Explicit | 11,883 words | Published August 19, 2012)
Summary: "I dream about the ice," Steve says. "About being in the ice." Also available as a podfic read by susan_voight
Private Bookmark? by storiesfortravellers (Gen | Mature | 2,638 words | Published August 24, 2012)
Summary: The Avengers discover that there are fans who write explicit RPF fic about them. Some of them are very confused. Some are proud. Some don't understand why everyone writes the pairings who aren't together but hardly anyone writes the couple who actually is together. Much silliness ensues. Also available as a podfic read by analise010, AshesandGhost, dapatty, fire_juggler, lorcalon (uniquepov), Opalsong, Weebs813
The Goat's Back by arsenicarcher (Arsenic) (Gen | Mature | 10,155 words | Published November 30, 2012)
Summary: An AU where Steve's essentially a failed experiment, corporal punishment is the predominant form of discipline and team leaders take the punishments for those under them.
Dear Clint Barton (circa age 7) by pollyrepeat (@pollyrepeat) (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 4,221 words | Published March 31, 2013)
Summary: The most annoying parts of being de-aged (and then re-aged) are your friends. Also available as a podfic read by RsCreighton (@rosecreighton)
What We Pretend To Be by ifitwasribald (Gen, Bruce Banner/Tony Stark | Explicit | 100,697 words | Published July 14, 2013)
Summary: Good becomes great, bad becomes worse. But people are a hell of a lot more complicated than good and bad. When half of the team is dosed with the super soldier serum, they all have to grapple with their own pasts and futures. But for better or for worse, they’re all in it together.
Speak So We Can Hear Your Heart Beat by Jaune_Chat (@jaune-chat) (Gen, Clint Barton/Natasha Romanov, Pepper Potts/Tony Stark, Jane Foster/Thor | Mature | 15,402 words | Published November 10, 2014)
Summary: The Avengers are rendered mute by Amora the Enchantress. As a search for a cure grows more and more dim every day, the Avengers have to deal with the reality of learning to communicate with each other in a whole different way. Uncertain if they'll be able to fight again, they enlist the help of their friends, and learn some surprising things about each other as they struggle to hold onto their identities as the World's Greatest Heroes.
The Health Benefits of Knitting by Niobium (@niobiumao3) (Gen | General Audiences | 1,179 words | Published January 15, 2015)
Summary: Clint isn't sure what's really relieving Natasha's stress—the knitting, or the part where she foists the horrible results off on other people. Also available as a podfic read by reena_jenkins (@reena-jenkins)
Clint Barton's Guide to Friends and Ceiling Vents by NoliteTimereEos (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 6,488 words | Published July 11, 2015)
Summary: In which Clint Barton meets a missing assassin in the vents and somehow becomes friends with him. Things don't go as bad as they could have. Also available as a podfic read by babbling_bedlamite
How to Train Your Superheroes by StuckySituation (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 3,150 words | Published March 05, 2019)
Summary: “But of course, no matter how much we practice on schedule, we will need to learn constant vigilance and manage to get our reaction times down to the minimum,” Steve continues and takes the last burger beef from the grill and puts it onto the table next to him. Natasha has a brief millisecond to frown and think “Constant vigilance?”, before Steve kicks the grill so hard that the coals rain on top of the flammable carpet feet away. “What the hell-!?” “STEVE!?” Steve is already sprinting towards the ledge. “First training session started! Wanda, Sam, Tony - someone CATCH ME!” Then he jumps off the Tower. Also available as a podfic read by vassalady (@vassalady)
Do You Remember Being Happy? ('Cause I Sure Don't) by GalaxyThreads (@galaxythreads) (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 11,022 words | Published April 25, 2020)
Summary: "Dragr," Thor called them. "Demons" Clint had said. "Thieves" is what Steve labels them as. AKA, the one where Steve is captured by creatures that feed off of happy memories, and the team is left to pick up the pieces. Post-Avengers.
5 Times Steve Dealt with His Team's Sleeping Habits... by The67ImpalaDragonChild (@dragonimpal67) (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 29,606 words | Published November 08, 2020)
Summary: ...and one time they dealt with his. Steve didn't think anything of it when he moved into the Avengers tower. He didn't think about how much the people he's living with would affect him. He's thinking about it NOW! Who knew a bunch of super heroes could be so weird about something as basic as the need to sleep?
on the mend by meidui (@meidui) (Gen | General Audiences | 1,438 words | Published February 03, 2024)
Summary: Steve rarely feels this awful after a fight, but then again, he hasn’t been on a solo mission in months.

Oh my gosh that sounds genuinely so interesting! I love the idea of Starscream bonding with the autobots (aspecially if they happen to uncover some of his trauma). Good luck on your writing venture!!
WAIT YOU LIKE TRANSFORMERS TOO?? im literally writing starscream fanon divergence based on a kidfic rn no wayyy
Yes I do!! Starscream was my first blorbo who I felt had under represented trauma lol
I'm not super active in Transformer fandom spaces, but my first fics were Transformer fics and I still read theme when the mood hits me. I have about 8 published transformer fics and I watched several different shows growing up. Most of my old Transformer fics are on the way back burner, but I do have one I'd like to finish called "I know why the caged bird sings".
I saw your profile the other day and saw you also like transformers! I love all the art you reblog. My sideblog is SilverLyrics and that's where I put all my other fandom stuff, including Transfomers :D
That wip of yours sounds so interesting! Is it Starscream as the 'kid'?

This is probably a shot in the dark, but could we (read I) get a list of all the fics you have? I'm particularly interested in ones that are "on the backburner" as you say. I wanna know what we're *not* getteing to hear about in WIP Wendsdays.
Actually I'd love that! I made a list a few weeks ago (it was hidden in a long reblog) but I realised it wasn't complete and this time I will be a bit more detailed about it.
First a meme I made for it:
Tumblr media
Active wips:
Selkie Steve: Steve is a secret selkie who loses his coat after the war but no one knows.
Dogs are the Best Judge of Character: Steve was turned into a dog on a mission and captured by Hydra. After he escapes he's found by war veteran Bucky.
Bingo Steve Time Travel: For Steve bingo: Steve visits his Ma after he returns the stones.
Backburner wips (aka hopefully will write them one day):
Hanahaki Steve Trauma: Hanahaki disease has been linked to trauma after the war, but no one thought to tell Steve that.
The Captain and The Soldier: Hydra captures Steve in the elevator and succeeds in their take over plan. Now Steve is an asset like Bucky and has no idea why the Avenger rebels are so shocked to see him.
Platonic Cinderella AU: Steve is Cinderella, Joseph Rogers the Wicked Father. Bucky is the Prince, they're both aroace.
Stark Men are Made of Iron and Rogers Don't Take Charity (Iron and Charity for short): Tony and Steve are both turned into children on a mission and captured by Hydra.
Dreaming (nightmares) of You: Tony gets hit with some broken magic that makes him start dreaming of Steve's childhood through Bucky's eyes. But the dreams will stop when Bucky dies. Right?
Alt Options: Steve and the Battle for Wakanda: Steve's pov in the Alternative Timeline series of the Battle in Wakanda.
Alt Options: The Alt-Alt Timeline: Alternative Timeline, Steve pov of the Battle in Wakanda, but this time the Avengers have the warning to 'go for the head' they got from some time travellers.
I know why the Caged Bird Sings: Prequel to The Singer where Sideswipe and Sunstreaker are Singer Starscream's guards and witness the corruption around him.
2nd Winter Soldier Steve idea: Steve is captured by Hydra and wiped. The Avengers + Bucky find him and have to deal with the aftermath of a man who remembers nothing but the walls of a compound.
Cursed Obedience: Bucky has the obedience curse from Ella Enchanted. Hydra finds this out.
Mirror Mirror: Tony slowly realising that Steve doesn't like alcohol, and that it has to do with Joseph Rogers.
Wing Fic: Wing universe, but Steve's wings were damaged in the ice and now are in chronic pain. Tony's wings were also damaged in Afghanistan and he helps.
The Sound of Silence: Steve goes mute after staying at The Retreat, and it's Natasha's job to figure out why.
Way BackBurner (aka right now not actively planning to write one day)
Never in a Million Years: Steve is presenting at Peter's school when he experiences an active shooter drill (just a drill) and learns more about school shootings
Jewish Bucky in army fic: Exploration of how Bucky kept Jewish practices while in the army (much research needed)
It's not your/my fault: Modern-day Steve with cerebral palsy dealing with ableism from Sarah about his incontinence.
Scott and Steve PTSD fic: Scott and Steve are captured and Scott has a PTSD episode because of the Raft. Steve and Scott talk about shared PTSD.
Blue Eyes: The 2012!Steve that got left unconscious by Endgame!Steve is brainwashed when Rumlow finds him with the returned scepter.
Rest: Steve catches a virus from Thor (gives much the same symptoms as Long Covid) and has to adapt to being sick even with the serum.
Steve first aid trauma fic: CPR was invented after Steve died. He learns it after the Loki attack and has to use it after Bucky almost drowns in the helicopter (during Civil War)
Infallible: Steve's pov and 3rd instalment of the "Captured" series. Steve thinks he can't show his triggers, but learns otherwise.
Quirks in the System: Part of winglock series, John's upbringing as a science experiment and war weapon.
Evolution of the Stars: Starscream backstory fic—how he cut off his trinemates to protect them as Megatron got more dangerous.
Discovery: Megatron suddenly realises the abusive dynamics between him and Starscream are hindering the Cause and has to try to change it.
Difficult Lessons: Sequel to "Learned Lessons". Thor pov learning more about Loki and what happened to him before the attack in 2012 (ie Thanos).
Alone: More Starscream backstory fic. Angst of him losing his trinemates
I think that's all of them! Feel free to ask me any questions about them. It will probably result in me feel like working on whatever one you're interested in 😆

this is my first time writing a hurt/comfort fic... as in, there is comfort in it and not just hurt. is there anything, small details or vague ideas, present in good comfort or aftermath fics you can recommend?
sorry i tend to send you asks whenever i need help with something, i know we dont talk much but i trust you a lot
-pwetzl/viney
Hmm, I enjoyed thinking about this since I haven't really put these concepts into words before!
Also I don't mind at all! I love getting asks and it's an honour you feel I can help you!
I think the key to good comfort after hurt is tying up loose ends! For example, say the hurt made Character A afraid of something, maybe the comfort is them facing that fear, or accepting they can't.
Say in the midst of the hurt Character A expresses they miss something or someone, maybe the comfort is them being able to do that thing or reconnect with that person somehow.
Say the hurt gave Character A scars, maybe the comfort is them showing the scars to someone they care about, or being able to walk around carefree with the scars showing.
Say during the hurt Character A has been very reluctant to be open and vulnerable, but the comfort is the fact they feel safe to do so.
Also another one of my favourite aspects of hurt/comfort is The Breakdown.
Character A can only deal with so much! The best part of the story is either during or post hurt when they are trying to cope and keep their trauma to themselves, but then something happens and it all comes spilling out to Character B, who then can know what's happening and help them.
Bonus points if Character B has been trying to get them to open up this whole time but it hasn't worked till now.
The also pairs well with The Reveal.
Where Character A has been dealing with hurt for a long time and no one knows until something happens (maybe they get drunk or drugged and reveal it somehow, something besides a total breakdown) and suddenly everybody knows and have to deal with it (which may or may not be something Character A is open to).
Sometimes the comfort doesn't have to be extensive. It can be a simple rescue with the knowledge that Character B is going to be around in the future as Character A heals, even if you don't show that part.
Anyway, I hope that helped! That's all I can think of for now but if anyone else has any suggestions feels free to chime in.
