To be fair, they're all very young; it makes sense to be scared of facing off against like, the whole government. On the other hand! Talent de Lune was indeed created to do exactly that.

I still don’t get what’s wrong with eating monsters! I’D eat them if they were pretty much animals but weirder!
Yes! It's definitely a very clear metaphor for "exotic"/"gross"/"weird" foods that people tend to reject when they come from other cultures, so I'm enjoying it a lot. (Of course, there's also the difference between politely declining something that intimidates you VS calling it gross.) I feel like I don't see that metaphor often, now that I think about it. I'm gonna have to read more lol

Talent De Lune dungeon meshi AU?
I'm an anime-only (for now... >:]) so things will probably change as I watch/read further, but yeah! TDL dunmeshi AU!
(I don't have much worldbuilding/lore knowledge so I'm just referencing this old DnD AU I used to have for fantasy species and party role. For now!)
Sam is like if Laios was Marcille lol. She wants to save her bff Cameron who got eaten by a dragon but she is NOT happy about the eating monsters thing. In DnD terms she's a human fighter, and I think her weapon is just Punching.
Cameron is dragon lunch! RIP. In DnD terms he's a half-elf cleric but I'm pretty sure that's gonna change. I don't even know if dunmeshi has clerics lol I'll have to see
Max is an elf sorcerer, which will definitely change I bet. I think he's the one who wants to try eating monsters the most but he wouldn't be so blatant about it... Maybe Ben would be in the party? I think he's the most like Laios in personality but he wouldn't be hyperfixated on monsters. He'd still want to try the food though! Good sport!
